Re: XBOX 360 video output problem
I played a game on MLB 2k9 and then went to sleep last night, no problem with anything.. earlier this afternoon i tried to play MLB 2k9 again and the screen was blank, i didnt get any of the color errors that everyone seemed to be getting. So, i called microsoft and they said to send it in, $99 to fix.. crap. i tried everything that every website said to do besides taking it apart. nothing. just upsets me. i was reading posts about it online and many people were having this problem back in 07... you would think they would be able to fix this.

Count it up as box number 2 for me. About an hour or so ago I got the 'error, contact Micros**t for repairs'. This happened on a completely different box about 6 months ago. If you are reading this and any other post on this forum Billy, gimme BACK my money for my TWO boxes, my $50 for my live membership, the NUMEROUS hundreds for the add ons and games and shove them up your A**! I'm sick and tired of being JERKED around. This is supposed to be a FUN passtime for me and my son, only to find out that the wii is better built. FOR SHAME. Here I come gaystation.....BAAAAH!

Re: XBOX 360 video output problem
Was playing UFC 2009 and the screen went to a greenish color.  Still played, but the color was really messed up.  I turned off the xbox and back on and no video.  Perfect audio, but no video.  Let it cool down and everything and still no video.  Tried different xbox on same connection and it worked perfectly.  I called MS and they said $99 to fix.  That is total bullshit.  This will be the third time for my xbox to be fixed, but I am not going to pay $99.  They need to fix this immidiately becuase they know it is a console flaw and related to overheating!!!

Re: XBOX 360 video output problem
So whats going on with this because the same thing happened to me in February a few weeks after my warranty was expired. Are they going to fix it because i called microsoft a few days after it happened and some guy told me it would be about a hundred bucks to fix it and i don't think that's right since i paid for the console already expecting something worth the price that i paid and now because of an error they made i should have to give them more money? If anyone understands why they should be able to put something faulty into the things they sell why they should be able to make profit off of that, please explain it to me.

Re: XBOX 360 video output problem
Yup you have one of Microsofts great wonders. The video has went out in your console. What it is there is two little "X" Shaped clamps GLUED together inside your xbox, this is the VIDEO... Well since they are metal they tend to Heat up.. Well heat and glue doesn't get along. It ends up melting the glue and breaking apart the "X"'s.. So you need to send it in. Same thing happened to me, but i was paying 100 to get it fixed so I got a new one lol..

Good advice! I tried an alternate twist. Preheat an oven to gas mark 6. Stick the 360 in for 2 minutes. Voila. Fixed! For an extra treat you can add a pinch of salt and a little coriander.

don't fake it, just say it's intermittent. they don't have time to check.

Re: XBOX 360 video output problem
-Goozleberries: did you confirm that your manufacture date and box amperage are the correct values for the 'new build' 360 you bought?  After all, most game stores would rather sell you a P o S so they can get rid of them, rather than the new Jasper builds!!!

And another one bites the dust...

Symptoms: Grainy video with high green saturation during end of L4D versus matches (~5 hours playtime), audio coming in loud and clear (TOSLink cable connected to HD AV plug)
Diagnosis: Hot Box?
Prognosis: Turn off 360 and let cool overnight
Follow-up: Xbox Video still grainy with high green saturation the next morning, upon booting up!
Turn off Xbox and check TV.  I have another 'video box' that uses the HDMI connection on my TV and displays HD video - this is working fine.

Trouble-shooting HD AV Component Cable and SD/HD selector

Switch to SD (reconnect SD video cable) = no video, audio fine
Switch Inputs on TV = no video, audio fine
Switch to HD (reconnect HD video cables) = no video, audio fine
Switch Inputs on TV = no video, audio fine
Power off 360, unplug power adapter, and remove hard drive.
Wait 30 seconds to plug power adapter back in.
Repeat all steps above = no video, audio fine
Reconnect Hard Drive and Buy New Cables
New Cables = no video, audio fine
Repeat all steps above = no video, audio fine

Thankfully I am within warranty....

Re: XBOX 360 video output problem
You might be disappointed about your 'out of warranty' payment for extended service - but notice how the refurbished warranty works now... (instead of an extension for 3 years...you get the long dark smelly shaft)

New Post-Service Warranty

If we repair your Xbox 360 within the original warranty period, you will receive either the balance of your original warranty, or 90 days, whichever is longer. In addition, we will pay for the shipping both ways.

In essence - you get 90 days or the remainder, for me that is 90 days until I will probably have to fork over $400 for a new Jasper console or start paying repairs on my console.  What happened to the - extended warranty support for failing/faulty consoles that MS unveiled in light of the huge number of RRoD.  I suppose they just kinda hoped you'd forget about it...

If we repair your Xbox 360 after the warranty period has expired, while you will be responsible for the repair costs, you will receive either the balance of your original warranty (if it has not yet expired for all conditions), or one year, whichever is longer.

In essence - you pay them for a repair, then suddenly you have a product that can be repaired/refurbished for free overthe next year if the defect fits the warranty list!  Which warranty conditions are unexpired during the posthumous warranty period?  Who knows?!

ROFLCOPTERS!  When I used the automated repair scheduler, it sent me to a link for my 'free' UPS shipping label.  The shipping label does not appear when I select the link, instead I get a 'broken-link' error for the image (y'know - the square with the red [x]).  This error is 100% repeatable on two different computers and two different browsers.
