I've been getting this question alot on Live.  Basically stay in the middle as much as possible, and try to kill everything before they set up into formation.  Treat every stage like a bonus stage.

Also take advantage of the bonus stages since there is a distinct pattern to all of them

Crazy score Kumachine. I thought I'd be able to give you a run for the money when you were #1, but now some guy has like 2.5 million. My 930,000 isn't even good enough for the top 5 anymore (fell from 4 to 7 in just one day)

One of my problems on the high end is knowing what challenge stage I'm up to on the second and third times through the levels. Once I get to about 45-50, I never get perfects anymore.

I solved the problem of forgetting the next bonus stages some years ago by making a level chart which I stuck to the wall next to my machine so I could keep track of my progression.

But usually this just got me out of concentration and rythm of the regular stages (which obviously is more important)
so I stopped using it. But it did help me to get the stages in my memory. I rarely forget which one is coming up nowadays.
