Losing glory points.....How come?

Lately,  right after I load my game I lose glory points.  It hasn't always been like this,  just the past 2 weeks or so.  Today I lost "a good amount of glory points" and I didn't even crash my plane or get shot down,  all I did was load my gameConfused [8-)].  This happens if I'm connected to Live or not.  Anyone else have this problem?  I don't think there are any patches for Over G that could've downloaded and messed something up,  but I got the game the day it was released and it's been fine 'till now....I just don't know.

It does that for some reason....bug i guess....just make a copy of your save to another slot and you should be set

It's not a bug.  The game checks to see if you have recent flight time.  If you have not flown in 2 days, you will lose glory points.

Making a copy of your save doesn't protect anything.  Whichever profile you load, if it's been too long since you've been up in the air, you're going to take a hit.

The only way to prevent this is to load every profile you want to maintain, and get some flight time/experience, to stay in shape.

Hmm that does sound plausible. But I actually lose points whenever I relocate my xbox (as in unplug it and plug it back in about half an hour later Wink [;)] )

Ah,  I see now.  That's something I hadn't noticed,  thanks.  So it seems like a good way to keep yourself in shape - if you care at all about your ranking.

That blows!  I can see telling my wife," Sorry hun, I gotta at least get airborn or I will lose points". Angry [:@]Sure she will buy that.  I mean it makes since if they really want to take this sim to the next level but it is still just a game and you should not be penalized if you are unable to play for two days.  Sorry for the rant. lol

hey kitty that seems like its plausible but are you shure its 2 days? i mean i was gone for a week and when i came back none of my profiles lost any glorypoints (unless maybe they did and just never gave me the message)

Re: Losing glory points.....How come?

It has to do with your Ranking, and your average time played I believe.

When I was at Predator I was losing points if I took more than 12 hours away from the game.

I think the game actually measures it by your skill level.  It takes more flight time to maintain a higher skill level than it does to maintain a lower one.

This would explain why it lowers mine if I don't log in for half a day, yet it takes some people two days, and some people up to a week.

Re: Losing glory points.....How come?

The night before last me and a friend were flying in the arena, taking out Symbol Towers, I eventually got Best Guy and thought "it's 1am, I'll just save here and go into SP challenge mode tomorrow". I backed up my save 5 times on my HDD and 5 times on my MU and went to bed.

The next day I loaded and it said I'd lost more glory points than I can possibly imagine. Now I can imagine a $hitload of glory points so it must have been a lot!! Every backup save did exactly the same and I felt totally screwed. I got back to best guy, then predator and then got PR6 all in two hours but it's the principle, how in this day and age can suck a monumental programming glitch sneak through??

Doesn't change the fact I love this game but it grates.

One other thing, I've heard loads of people complain about how hard the 305th Sqdn F-15 is in Big Boss mode, mine was easy (24secs), maybe the game was giving me a break!

Ah, that makes sense, and would account for the varied time.  Good conclusion!

It's not a glitch, it's intentional realism of needing to log so many flight hours, if you will.  But I do agree it's a pain to have to redo it!
