Re: The call for Shenmue
I love this series and have since the Dreamcast release. I own several consoles and a plethora of games and yet I keep coming back to the Shenmue saga. It was most definitely before its time... many pioneers are. This game is historically epic and is in need of due justice to all the fans gathered here in this thread as well as many others like this one on the information highway. In regards to the essential budget requirements, games in fact do cost more now adays to produce from start to finish. However, most of the conceptual work for the third installment more than likely was already completed years ago, though dormant, the "blue prints" do exist! This should be taken into consideration by anybody (preferrably Microsoft) with the ability to resurrect it.

It wouldn't be difficult to get this game finished and released; only minimal effort more than likely would be all that would be needed. We (the fans) just need an ally, aka someone in the corporate world with enough consideration, influence, and prowess to be able to make it happen. We believe the revenue will generate and cover any extra costs incurred... I am sure many are aware of the potential; but are unwilling to forego the red tape and take a risk by truly listening to what the fans have to say.... still, we wait.

It's awesome to see and read all the good things so many people have said about the short lived Shenmue series and I hope that a 3rd will see the light of day, just one last game to finish out the story and it would be so sick on the current generation of consoles!!! I thought Shenmue 1 was unbelievable for it's time. I'm still impressed with how good the game looks on the dreamcast! I'm sad that the Dreamcast was so short lived and sega dropped out of the hardware manufacturing, but it did help pave the way for the xbox and 360!

'' YES'' Shenmue was pretty cool! Do you think they would bring it to the 360? ''I would most definetly consider it!'' It did have a pretty good storyline to it. Only this time around I would like to see more of the sega classics when in arcade! You agree

Shenmue for the dreamcast was one of my most anticipated games of all time when I read about it before it was released. I remember reading that it was suppose to be a 6 chapter saga and unfortunately Sega bailed on the dreamcast and Shenmue is now in shambles with a sequel left WIDE OPEN for at least a 3rd!!!

I correct myself, I read there are 16 chapters, the 1st game being the 1st chapter, the 2nd chapter supposedly takes place on the boat he takes to hong kong(unreleased) and the 3rd chapter starts when he arrives in Hong Kong and the game ends after chapter five, WIDE OPEN, WE NEED MORE SHENMUE!!!

I had to literally search every videogame shop for 2 years just to find a copy of Shenmue 2. Good luck finding a copy, I hear they are very hard to find.
