R: No Audio at All post-NXE for HDMI connection to BenQ G2400W Monitor (via headphone jack)
Same here with a Ilyama B2403WS.

I'm very disapponted by all of this, and more over the lack of a fix after three days. No temp workaround worked for me: the hd removal did nothing and resetting video settings didn't help.

Customer support's gal made me pull every single strip of cable attached to the display or the console, but nothing changed so she filed a ticket and I'm waiting for followups.

Heck, I don't even know if she jotted down my email right.

Anyway, there's no f*****g way I'm giving up my B2403WS or tossing another batch of money to anyone to fix the issue. Since before NXE my cables and my display were fine, I already have everything I need to play with my 360.

This issue must be fixed at no cost. Absolutely.

And if this is going to make me miss the Double XP week of CoD:WaW, I will delete my live subscription and toss the xbox right out of the window, I promise.

skilldeadly> Lastly, please no one call the customer service.

It costs Microsoft next to nothing if you come to the forums and ask for help, but it costs them a fair amount of money if a lot of people actually call customer support with this problem. I expect their customer support department keeps a daily log of issues - if customer support management see audio issues creeping up in their top ten list, you can bet that they will be begging the dev team to prioritise audio. And then we might get a fix.

So, if you want Microsoft management to know you're having a problem, call the support line and file the problem with them. There's no incentive for Microsoft to prioritise this issue as long as it's not costing them money, and as long as users are waiting patiently for a fix.

Speaking of waiting patiently, I'm getting tired of it. It doesn't bother me hugely whether I have an Xbox or a PS3; the games I want to play mainly come out for both. I just bought the Xbox because it was cheaper (I can perhaps now see why!). Does Sony also have a history of setup-breaking updates, or would it be worth buying a PS3 on payday?

Ooh! Ooh! Excitement!

The fix of switching the Benq G2400W to D-sub, switching on the Xbox, waiting five minutes (actually ten in my case, because I was writing my previous post) and then switching the G2400W to HDMI actually worked! Many, many thanks to whoever found this workaround. No PlayStation for me just yet. ;-)

I live in germany and have the same problem here using a Fuijtsu Siemens Amillo Widescreen Monitor.
Everything worked fine via hdmi before updating toNXE. Unfortunatly none of the tricks posted here works.
By the way, the MS Hotline is a joke....they told me i should buy the orig. MS HDMI Cable...lol
I could not believe that ms was not aware of this problem before launching the update.
I think the problem was very well known

I have the same problem, but i have a solution, don't know if it has been posted yet.

Solution 1

1. Take HDD out of Xbox
2. Turn on Xbox
3. When at dashboard, put HDD back in and the Xbox will restart, there should be sound.

Solution 2

1. Take games out of Disk tray
2. Turn off Xbox
3. Turn on Xbox (If you have a wireless controller use the Guide Button to turn it on)
4. When Xbox is loading press and hold the Y button and the Right Trigger, this should restart the Xbox.  But using this method it alsos ets the xbox to it's default Display settings.

Note - These only work untill you turn off the Xbox then they must be done again.

I know it isn't the best fix, but it gets you sound untill MS find a fix.

I have a V7 monitor. It's kind of a no-name but it's a pretty nice display. But none of the "fixes" work for me. Resetting the Xbox settings, the HDD replacement, etc.

I would understand the wait time if this was a really goofy bug, but it's not. The audio worked perfectly fine before NXE.

Yes, we all have been reading thru the thread, and I assure you that none of these temporary fixes works for me. I'm paying the xbox live subscription and I paid even more for my collector super spider special edition of CoD:WaW and that's just what I got: PAYING.

I'm starting to be really distressed.

Sorry to say it, but this just screams "Microsoft".

Typical Microsoft.

But this is why you should only play your Xbox on a regular TV or a Plasma/LCD HD Tv. No problems at all.

By the way, people with HD TVs are also effected by this. I am using an HD TV and am having the same exact problem as the rest of these people.

Yeah that's correct, but its my opinion that in writing in the new code to allow the new resolution settings there has been a corrupted section that codes for the audio, only allowing you to hear anything via HDMI when you take out your HDD making it revert to default settings.

any word on a fix for this? The only jacks available on my tv to use is either an HDMI or the old composite style cables. So now im stuck using the AV cables and it looks terrible.

The first response to this (that person is confused about your question). Yes, HDMI is able to pass audio. The entire point of HDMI is that it is a High Definition Multimedia Interface that carries both AUDIO and VIDEO in high quality and in compact form from one device to another. It ranks the highest on the quality scale factor as compared to AV or Component.

The single cable is a large part of why its the next big thing and a good investment. Not only do you get the superior HD quality but you also get audio and video in one nice, neat cable. No ugly plug ins or multiple wires, just ONE cable and one small input.

Conclusion: You are wrong. It is able to pass audio. That is why its the greatest cable ever and why Xbox should have TESTED this F%$KING update before releasing it. (Other than the lack of audio, this update is good. Not as cool appearance as the old dashboard but whatever... Oi LACK OF AUDIO = NOT A MEDIA CENTER). What's next, selling cell phones without keypads, food without the food, *** why dont you make me buy a TV that has no display?

Same thing happened with me. I am connecting to a computer monitor (1900x1200) and using HDMI to HDMI. Before the update everything worked fine, but after the monitor displayed a DVI connection. I know DVI and HDMI use the same protocol but DVI doesn't support native audio...guess I'm not alone?

For some reason the NXE now registers HDMI as DVI, hence why we can all choose random resolutions as it thinks it's connected to a PC monitor (and even if it is, there are interfaces for other HDMI equipment that isolate to the standard HD resolutions.) This is a horrible bug.

Minimoose is god.

Same situation with the Ilyama B2403WS.
None of the workarounds work, and I am getting really frustrated with no official response, no nothing from the all mighty MS...

I hope the good folks at MS realize there must be a patch early next week... not only for this issue, but for the plethora of other NXE bugs people have come across. I hope that's why it's taking this long to address.... that they're working on a "one patch to cure them all" type-of-solution.
The overly hyped experience has really gotten off on a rotten start. How can you force something like this on your users? Why not give the option to revert back to a working system?

For f's sake, Billy boy.. where do you come up with the things you do?

This bug is very disappointing Sad [:(]

My Xbox360 Elite connected with a HDMI cable to a Iiyama ProLite B2403WS worked fine before the update. Now there is no sound. I hope there will be a solution and a bug fix soon.

Until then I have found a workaround for my combination:
I use the HDMI cable for the video and the Audio adapter to connect stereo audio to the 3,5" audio jack of my display.

The picture is perfect as it was before and the sound seems to be ok.

Perhaps this might help some of you Wink [;)]

Have a nice sunday evening ...

I have the same problem. It's an awful design, although my guess is that they want you to either use HDMI OR component/composite, because having both plugged in would confuse the system.
Microsoft does make audio only adapters that plug into the system above the HDMI that is shaped in a way that gives space for both wires. But you can only buy them in a package bundled with a MS HDMI cable for $50. And by the time you get it then this whole mess should be fixed. ...right?

Same problem. Worked perfectly fine with my B2403WS. Now it's just frustrating to not have any sound. And no sound, is no game for me.

No fix so far worked for me. I'm just going online everyday hoping there's a fix. 5 days and still nothing.

It shouldn't be that hard to fix it, since it worked before?!
