Has anyone on here recently had information go "missing" from their records at Microsoft?
I just found out about this refund policy, and it appears I am too late for the refund since it expired on 1 Nov. When I called them tonight, this "support" person was completely incompetent at finding information about me. I had to give him my name, address, etc. several times over.
Interestingly, when I gave him my old console serial number he said that it was registered under someone else's name (not surprising, since they refurb them) but that he also couldn't find any of my other support calls on record.
Finally, I was referred to a "resolution specialist" (whatever that is) and she told me that it was too late to apply for the refund. I asked why I wasn't contacted in the first place, and she told me that there were no records of me ever having a console with E-74 and that it seems my account record was "reset". Is this common?
I understand that most companies try to stockpile as much personal data as possible, and you would think that Microsoft of all companies would be somewhat responsible with customer data.
I'm not trying to start a conspiracy theory, but it just seems odd to me that they "conveniently" lost my info just as their policy expires. I am quite steamed that I missed this opportunity by exactly one week.
Anyone else have this happen to them? It would be interesting to see what percentage of those who paid for their E74 fix actually got a refund.
Yes, I have the same problem with their record keeping. They have no record of returns 1-8 even though I have all the serial numbers. They do have records of returns 9 and 10 though as they were only about a month ago.
But it seems that the only 'refunds' they were giving out were to people who had paid for service on E74 issues before the 'new' 3 year limit had expired.
