Re: RE: Re: oldtaco & Stoffs Guide to the Grid System (Videos)

I'm doing well, Herr Stoffs! Just been playing Boom Boom Rocket and have FINALLY gotten #1 overall on the Combined Leaderboard for Standard Difficulty on Hard. Well, I say FINALLY, it's actually the 3rd time I've done it but this time, I had to pass FAST N BULBOUS to do it and he is an AWESOME BBR player so this time is particularly special!Big Smile [:D]

I've got to do the original set of songs now and that's gonna be WAY harder. More people have played them for longer so it'll be tough but I think I can do it now. There're only a couple of songs I doubt I'll get #1 in but the others I definitely think I can.

As for RL, I'm currently looking for work, been unemployed for a few months but I'm still keeping busy (not just on the 360, either.) I'm on this training course, which tbh is a complete waste of time atm. Haven't learnt/done anything new, could've stayed at home.Sad [:(]

Anyway, I'm glad to see you back. Sorry to everyone else for this wildly off topic post.

This grid system thingy is very good, isn't it?Stick out tongue [:P]

Congrats on the number 1 spot. You truly are a talent when it comes to retro style games....

I've heard the same about the training courses here in Sweden, they are all complete BS, not telling you anything new at all... I hope you will finish it soon though!

Well, Boom Boom Rocket is actually a rhythm game, I think probably the closest thing that comes to it is Dance Dance Revolution. You'll probably like BBR (and indeed DDR) if you like Guitar Hero as well (and I'm pretty sure you do!)Wink [;)]

I'll have to look at your site again, then.Smile [:)]

I would just like to poke my head in for a second and say congrats on the first place in BBR. I have played that game and it seems like Fast N Bulbous is Number 1 in every song. I can't even break the top ten. I think i made 1 top 20 so far but maybe I'll try again :p

Thanks!Big Smile [:D] I can tell you now that he's not #1 on everything anymore hehe!Stick out tongue [:P] We actually have 5 #1s each in Hard Standard Mode, I know he's got loads of other #1s on other difficulties and maybe a few in Endurance as well but I'm not too bothered about the lower difficulties anymore, they just seem so boring when you're able to perfectly hit near enough every note on Hard.

I might try Endurance once I've finished with Standard but Endurance is so stressful when you get to the higher laps and unlike the Standard songs, which are probably only taking me an average of like 1/2 an hour or so each to do well on, it would probably take a few days to do the same per song on Endurance. (It took me a good few days to get #3 on Hall of the Mountain Dude, though I think I'm 5th or something now).

I'm glad that I might've inspired you to play it again, it's such a great game, though some people hate it because it's "too simple" and not worth 800 MS Points because there're hardly any songs and the replay value is low. I think rhythm games have amongst the highest replay value around because of their "simplicity", you can easily drop in and out of them, play a small session or play for a few hours.

Anyway, I'm waffling on yet again. I shall shut up now!Stick out tongue [:P] Good luck and hopefully, I'll see you up there on the Leaderboards.Wink [;)]

Lol! At this rate, I'm gonna have to create a "Hexic Community goes Boom Boom Rocket" thread (like the old Geo Wars one) coz I'm playing it a lot and I know JDog has a little quest of his own going on (he's trying to be the new #1 in Endurance on Medium Difficulty) and then there's Clammy, who may make a return when he gets his 360 back.

Although I obviously would, I recommend you do get it soon, man. It's a really fun game!Big Smile [:D]

I have been #1 in a game before - Frogger a very long time ago now. There was a score limit, though so that took the edge off of it. I also have multiple top 10s, 50s and 100s.

There is sorta a score limit in this too but it's just how close you get to it as it is physically impossible to hit every single note perfectly. Even if you ARE hitting perfects every note, you might not ACTUALLY be hitting perfects at all. (You notice this if you hit perfects at the start of a song with single notes - if you get 20,000, you've hit it 100% perfectly, if you get like 19,513 or something, it may be classed as a perfect by the game but you missed out by a fraction.)

Man, I wish there was an "off topic" forum icon, I'd most certainly have it.Stick out tongue [:P]

Anyway, how goes your assault on the leaderboards?

Yeah but that is why the leaderboards are great because there aren't any cheaters and it is actually something that you can get 1st in but you would have to be insanely good like yourself. I on the other hand gave it a go couple times and haven't gotten anywhere basically. I have been playing Hexic if not Assassins Creed or something. Trying to get on top of the leaderboard and I am currently at 37 bil so I have a couple more mmcs before I finish that off. Shouldn't take that long though. The 2 mmcs that I completed to get that score where Jdogs 18bil mmcs and that would have only taking me like 2 days but I don't play it that much everyday. I probably get around to about 15 minutes or so each time when I am either board with Assassins Creed or some other game. I am going to try right now though after I finish typing this message.

I think we are going to have to make a new thread since you got me back into this game (Boom Boom Rocket) :p
I just cracked the top 10 of Rave New World on Medium after just 5 tries which is pretty sick for me lol. That also boosted me into 41st place in the Combined Leaderboard on Medium. I am all riled up and ready to do more damage :p Maybe I'll just p.m. you or something so we don't take over this thread.

Just thought I'd say that I got Arcade Mester back into BBR, then OG Deadcell came along and got me back into Hexic 2, now I read this and I want to return to BBR. My quest for #1 on Medium Endurance is going well, I am nearly in 2nd place, I am ATM in Third Obv. This is in the Rock Pack, only once I get to #1 on this will I return to Endurance with the normal songs, the only downside is no matter how fast you press the buttons it has to unclick each time prior to the next tap of that particular button, and on Endurance thats what gets me everytime. I am 8  Mill away from 2nd Pace. =) I'll keep you posted, pun intended.

OK guys, I went ahead and made a thread to document our Boom Boom Rocket exploits:

http://forums.xbox.com/18369598/ShowPost.aspx

Apologies to all those who posted in this thread and were getting annoyed at it being constantly bumped with off-topic banter about a game they may not even care about.

This thread may now return to its original purpose of teaching people how to use the grid system, the key to mastering the great game of Hexic HD!Big Smile [:D]

Here is the video making the pooh-bah using all the information above. I can't believe it took 56 minutes for this pooh-bah. I guess I didn't want to make a mistake and I haven't made a single pooh-bah in months. I completed the pooh-bah in level 2 with 15 combos remaining. It does get a little boring to watch so I recorded the video in fast foward to speed things up.

Yeah, if I remember correctly, that's the one I couldn't watch many months ago.

There're many Pooh-bah videos kicking around on Youtube. The best one to watch would have to be The OG Deadcell's Level 1 Poohbah, probably.Smile [:)]

Re: Making the Master's Grid Video
Sorry for taking so long to get this video up guys.Embarrassed [:$]

This guide is based on the 4x4 grid which is great for beginners to set up but the 4x4 grid has a lot of flaws making it difficult to maintain. The key to Hexic HD is the Master's Grid. It will make everything much more easier, even though it's a bit crowded with a lot star flowers, it has virtually no flaws and it will minimize accidental clusters but it can be a little challenging to set up. The Master's Grid is by far the better grid system so it's best to show a video on it. The video shows the Master's Grid being set up, it gives an idea on what needs to be done. It was close to 20 minutes long so to fit the video within the YouTube 10 minute limit I had to fast forward the recording at the end. I hope this video can be helpful. Big Smile [:D]
