Someone mind giving breakdowns of their times, roughly?  Where do you really HAVE to be after third chapter, etc.  I think I can get through 3 chapters in about 31-32 minutes, but I'm not sure that leaves me enough time.
as long as you get enough studs you get the gold brick

Yep - you can get 100,000 studs (which I did) or play in under an hour.  Getting the studs is way easier when you take into account how long it may take to exit the Death Star without freezing and I had over 100,000 before the end of Chapter 4, I think.

I've had it lock up on me three times so far.  I have almost given up on the game.  I want the 100% achievement, but its almost to the point that it isn't worth it anymore.  I am going to try and clear my cache and see if that helps out.  I'd love for them to fix it, but I doubt that will ever happen.

I finally got the last brick.  I gave up for a while and cleared my cache a week ago.  I am not sure if that helped or not, but it didn't freeze after doing it.  I think I played the game too much and it was its way of telling me to play something else.

I agree Love Bandit, The superstory froze on me crossing the river with Han. I was going as fast as possible to try and beat the time! After reading all these posts your suggesting of loading times makes sense. So I tried again and collected studs and did the whole thing as if I was playing to get true jedi instead of running through everything. I used R2D2 and went up-river first and then carried on as normal collecting studs as I went and finished in 1h14 with 250000 studs.

Hooray now I just need to get undefeateds to finish!!

ok the first time thru super story i got thru the stream no freeze but inside the building the shield wont drop even tho i have tripped the 4 colored switches. then i get the freeze ups, then get past it using the advice in this thread, and now the shield wont drop again after hitting all colored switches. i did have the shield problem in regular story also but replayed and passed it. didnt have the freeze up. also in the space port mission in episode IV in free play id get a freeze up if i used bobba fett and threw alot of TD's around. anyways id appreciate it if someone can help me with the problem with the shield

Just dropping the four colors doesn't lower the shield. It raises two more switches on the control panel in front of the shield.

FINALY!!!! got it this time when i crossed the stream, i used co-op we were r2 and 3po (vibrate off) also vibrate off on the death star and flew out slow (didnt move joystick) getting blown up alot but we made it. i dont see these  'undefeateds' ? we built the last tower outside the cantina it rains alot of studs (we maxed it out at 4 billion) or are the undefeateds where u play each level again and not die?

GOOD NEWS!!!!  I just got through it!  Here is what I did...

FeralKitty got me thinking, so I tried to get the game to freeze in regular story mode.  I played just that chapter again, and no freeze.  However, I kind of got trapped in the river with R2.   Hmmm....

So...  I tried the superstory one more time trying to recreate my "mistake."  I took control of R2 when I got to the river, went into it BUT DID NOT CROSS IT.  Instead, I went a little to the left, and let everyone else cross the river before me.  Then, I crossed the river last.  No freeze.  Woohoo!

Fast forward to DeathStar II, and I am getting that sinking feeling again...  Only in this level did I turn off vibration.  Luckily, I had no issue and got the brick.

Tad - if you can find it within you to try again, I would try this method at the river.  Now, it could be due to the fact that I played story mode twice, or that I did this river thing with R2.  I would give it a go on the regular level first to avoid any more frustration.  I sure wish you the best of luck, and look forward to your victorious post!  :)

Thanks FeralKitty for the info/idea about regular story.

If anyone else is having trouble with the game freezing and the solution above works for you, then please post here and let us know.

Thank god for forums!

I've just had 2 very frustrating goes and now I'll give this a try.  I'll try to remember to post my results.

OK... I didn't read through this thread entirely and that is probably why I got two more frustrating freezes crossing the river.

BUT!!!  I did manage it.  I think the killer point for me was that my lego bricks tally was UNDER the 100,000 goal.  Normally by then I've already got that amount but this time I held off and made sure I was just under.

Anyhow, good thread and I hope it helps others!

I recently changed my Xbox 360 and gave it another go but it's frozen on me twice now at the river crossing. It really looks like i'll never be able to complete this game without somesort of patch and as Lucasarts are denying that there's any kind of problem then it's not going to be likely. I don't know if it's possible for any helpful gamers who have managed to complete the Superstory are out there who can sign onto our gamertags and finish it for us? Probably not but anythings worth a try.

Hmmm. It's got me thinking. What if my lsw game save and profile were sent to someone on a memory unit to complete the game for me. Would that really work? Again it's just a thought so that i can finish a game that i have put far too many hours in to complete!

I'm still convinced that if you clear the cache using another game and holding the Y button while it starts, that you will not encounter the problem.  I think a lot of people are like me and played the game non-stop until we beat it.  I barely played any other games until I got the 100% achievement on this game.  I feel that the cache gets full from being written to and read off of that it freezes in those spots.  Why those spots, who knows.  It could have to do with the programming and disk reading at those spots.  This could explain why Lucasarts has not encountered the problem and we have.  As soon as I loaded GRAW and cleared the cache, I was able to go through the whole Super VI superstory without any problems.  Before, I did every trick on this thread and I still couldn't get through it.  If you've almost given up, stick another game into the disc drive and clear the cache then try it again.

Got through first time. No problems on Endor ... didn't really follow any recommendations like keeping everyone on the screen or crossing left. Just ran across with Han. Blew up a couple plants on the way. Basically played normally. On the final Death Star run I did turn off vibration just to be safe (really didn't want to have to start over), but no problems there either.

I had finished everything but the Bonus Missions in Episode VI. Started with Super Story. I had most characters except ghosts and most extras minus Invincibility, 4x, 6x, 8x, 10x, Rockets. Would have had 96 blocks. I beat the 100,000 stud mark, but missed the time mark by ~5:00 minutes.

I have had numerous other lockup/crashes while playing other levels ... such as on top of Jawa transporter in Jungland Wastelands and in the Cantina while trying to replay Mos Eisely to collect studs. What a buggy game.

Other than that, it's the only game that's been in my 360 the past week. I beat Episode V Bonus Missions directly before going on to VI.

A, B, X, and Y all clear the cache from what I read.  It's worth doing every once in a while especially when you play the same game non-stop.  Microsoft should put something in the software to clear it everytime the system starts.  I think people would have a lot less issues when playing games if they did that.

I appreciate all the help here but honestly i have tried every suggestion i can find on all the forums and have attempted to cross the river part no less than 12 times now and my console has frozen every single time no matter if i clear the cache, turn the music/vibration off or use a certain character to cross at a certain speed. I have even tried it on my brothers console. I reckon i can now do the first 3 chapters with my eyes closed! My console packed up after downloading the latest update last week and while it's been sent to Microsoft for repair i went out and bought a Core Xbox 360 and as my first game on it i tried Lego Star Wars again but still it would not work! It really has given me a lot of grief but i still hope that i can get past it somehow.

I've played this bloody superstory so many times I'm getting 53min and 100k+ studs now. Then endor thing seems to be don't kill the plants and walk through the river. I haven't made it past the death star II yet with rumble off, but next time I'll shut everything down, and not worry about my time. Friggin' 99.2% complete is mocking me...

After my fourth and would have been final attempt, I finally got the brick.  On Endor, I had R2-D2 enter the river, go left untlil stormtroopers spot you and starting firing at your group.  Good to go.  Death Star II  had rumble and music turned off, died every ten seconds and made it.  Thanks to all for great advice.  Now just collecting studs to get the 100%.
Why are you all stuck on stupid?

OMG i actually got through it! I can't believe that i managed to get across the river section after all this time! What i did on this occasion was to pick Han once he opened the gate and then not shoot the stormtroopers that fell from the platform above just before the river crossing but to let them follow me closely across while firing at me while i ran across the river. I then reached the rest of the stormtroopers that are waiting on the other side and i knew i had done it and could then fire back at them. I don't know if that's deffo the trick for everyone still struggling but certainly worth a go. After 15 attempts i am so pleased i never have to see Chapters 1 to 3 cut scenes again!

Finally!!!  With your help, I got through it after MANY frustrating tries.  Suggest participants of this forum go to Amazon and write a review alerting others to this problem.  I did.  Such a shame for a wonderful game to be released before the bugs are fixed, and then to not provide a patch after learning of the problem.

Fantastic, I'm really chuffed for you.  I'm certainly not doing it 15 times though!  After reading your post I tried again but no joy froze again crossing the stream.  To confirm I had:

-played different games over the last few days

-cleared cache at start up

-vibration was off

-music was off

-bloom set at zero

-didn't shoot the troopers, let them follow me (han solo) got halfway across the stream then total system freeze!

I have tried the r2d2 method, the c3p0 method, tried blowing everything up, tried blowing nothing up but same result everytime.  I guess I'll just have to sell the POS!

Thanks mate. I'm sorry to hear that you're still struggling to get past the river crossing as i know who bloomin' frustrating it can really be. Believe me, i didn't want to try it 15 times either but i just kept giving it a go every now and again when someone else posted something new on the forums to try. From what i can remember i did not change any settings so the vibration and sound were on and i didn't adjust the bloom filtering so i'm not 100% sure that it makes any difference to you getting across. What i definitely did do was remembering to hold the A button to (hopefully) clear the cache when Chapter 4 was loading so that could have been a factor. Also i didn't hang about on this occasion as previously i would clear everything out of the way and then tread carefully up to the stream only for it to freeze soon after. I just selected Han the moment i dropped down from opening the gate, let the Stormtroopers drop near me and then went to the lowest part of the dip before the stream and went straight up which put me slightly to the left on the otherside of the riverbank while the Stormtroopers followed me. I also didn't fire back until i met more Stormtroopers on the other side.

I hope that this helps so don't give up but deffo keep trying as it will work one time i'm sure. It would be nice to know that there's a patch on the way but i don't even think Lucas Arts are admitting that there's a problem at this time.
