I had to literally search every videogame shop for 2 years just to find a copy of Shenmue 2. Good luck finding a copy, I hear they are very hard to find.

You said it! I've had a standing order for YEARS with my local game shop to hold any copies of either Shenmue or Shenmue 2 (DC or Xbox version) for me. Not a single copy has surfaced.

Oh yeah? Try looking on amazon or ebay or something. I had to drive about an hour to get to the shop though. It was well worth it as the story in Hong Kong was really neat. I liked the mini games too. And the ending left too many questions unanwered though. But I am playing it as a second run through after beating it.

SEGA and Microsoft need to stop f-ing around and give us Shenmue II on Xbox Originals. It's an instant buy for thousands of us and it's fast cash. What is so hard about that? JUST RELEASE IT ALREADY!

Ya i saw that was now an xbox orginal as well and just kinda went "I didnt know that game was for xbox"

See, I dont really care considering im still a believer in backwards compatibility, and since I own Shenmue 2 and it is BC. It going to the orginals is low priority to me.

That being said, shenmue 1 going to the arcade... for sure I would buy it. To play now, id have to hook up my dreamcast.

Yeah, I actually made an effort and found Yu's email adress. I sent him 3 or 4 emails asking what had happened, and if there was even the slightlist chance of the game being made. No response. I waited about 3 months and still nothing. Didnt check anymore.

Hello! I'm happy to find this thread here. It's even nicer that there are still so many replies. I would definately buy Shenmue 2 if it came out for xbox originals. If Shenmue 1 was also there I would gladly buy both. I myself was curious if there are any plans to release it. It won't cost them much while they can get a huge, huge profit from it (even looking at this thread only). I emailed Sega and asked if they plan to do it. I'm hoping for their reply.

Probably pretty slim, cause I don't remember. Try checking the shenmue dojo fansite.

I was at a local used Game/CD/DVD store.  I didn't look at the original Xbox games, but I was looking at the old DC games and they had three copies of Shenmue sitting in the case.  They ranged in price from $7.00 to $12.00.  I still have my copy of Shenmue II at my folks house in the attic.  I don't know where you're located, but I've seen them at a couple of places around here.

Alright guys, the Mass Mailing to Sega of Japan is just finishing up.  I'm happy to report that over 7,000 toy capsules are making their way to Sega right now.  With all the packages I sent in the name of our campaign I included the address of this page, and pointed out the massive demand for the games.  Hopefully this will finally open Sega up to the idea of bringin Shenmue back.

Thank you very much to all those that have participated.

If you have not sent anything yet it's not to late.  I have a few more packs i will be sending this first week of January.  All the details can be found at the campaign site:

Do they have the first one on Xbox Live?

I'd LOVE to know all they hype about this game.
I've heard of it, but never played it. I only remember seeing the title in a Gameinformer I had.

My theory.... Sega used to be a great company. The titles for Dreamcast were top notch... Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Crazy taxi 1 and 2, Shenmue 1 and 2. Even the 2k titles were remarkable.

But then sega sold out... the minute sonic started appearing in games with mario... a little piece of me died inside. But i'm also bitter about the Dreamcast's death. Which is probably one reason in alot of people's eyes... the other thing i think it is, they are stuck two years behind everyone else.

A game comes out and it impresses some, but most see something that already has been over shadowed (Condemned 1 and 2). Or they put out a pathetic game (Sonic Unleashed)

The plus here, Dreamcast titles on the arcade aren't impossible and there are probably alot around the corner. I mean Rez and Ikaruga both came (they were orginally Dreamcast titles, then ported to the PS2 and GC)

Sega doesn't care about this thread, nor how many times we mail them asking. Which is why I gave up a long time ago... I own the orginal for my Dreamcast.... I still HAVE a Dreamcast and I own Shenmue 2 for the xbox.... this is good enough for me. If they come out as downloadable titles one day, or Shenmue 3 comes out.. I'll be happy however I won't hold my breath. Three words.... Sega Soccer Slam.

I think your right, yet one thing I'm pondering will this make us less inclined to buy Sega stuff anymore? Like what I mean is that if they're dumb enough to over look this awesome money making venture then maybe they're too dumb to have any future products trusted? I don't want to buy stuff from a dumb company, guess my gaming dollar goes to someone other than Sega...

Having owned and played both originals on Dreamcast, I have to admit that I'd only play them again if they were an enhanced port because the Dreamcast versions controls were appalling(as the Dreamcast pad only had 1 stick). You had to move Ryu as if he was car, left stick to change the direction he was facing and trigger to give him some gas(walk or run), which was as stupid as it sounds. It was still a great game if you could get past those problems, which at the time I could, but now....(yep I still want to play it....I need to know were the sailors hang out again...no h-o-m-o)

Honestly, I agree fully.... I was slightly disapointed when i tried to use both analog sticks to move and look around and to no avail.

you're 100% right.  I tried playing Shenmue II through back compat on the 360 and I couldn't believe how bad the controls were.

I think it pretty funny that xbox live have put Shenmue II as a full price game at £40.
Don't get me wrong though its a magnificent game but really when its six years old
and Ebay and Amazon provide the game for less than £20 aren't xbox live totally
shooting themselves in the foot?

The fact that Shenmue II as an xbox game runs on my xbox 360 is absolutely
wonderful.  The Dreamcast version of Shenmue II that I own only has english
subtitles and is in Japanese.  The masterpiece original on the Dreamcast is
full english voice acting and is marvellous and to have this ported to xbox
or running under a Dreamcast emulator on xbox360 would be perfect.

Shenmue was designed as a trilogy story and for the fact no other game
has measured up to Shenmue as well I demand with everyone else the
production of Shenmue III.
