If you were able to complete the Episode VI superstory, then congratulations! You are apparently one of the lucky few who were able to overcome a nasty bug in the game. This is especially frustrating for many, because it prevents people from achieving 100% completion in the game.
***Any help is appreciated. So consider yourself a hero if you can help the unlucky masses. Thank you.***
Personally, I am having this issue as well as many others, so let's start an official thread concerning this. Here is what we know:
There are two places this has reported to occur:
1) Crossing the river in chapter 4 - Endor
2) Flying out of the deathstar after blowing the reactor in Chapter 6 - Deathstar II
Known *possible* solutions:
Endor: Cross the river with everyone on screen. Do not jump, cross at much as possible to the left, do not blow up the plants immediately in front of the river. (none of these are yet confirmed)
Deathstar II: It has been reported that turning off vibration while leaving the Deathstar. However, this seems to have no effect on the Endor problem.
If any of the above solutions worked for you, then please let us know.
Theories:
Bad game disk batches and some esoteric bug are the main theories, but the cause is really unknown. One thing to note is that this always seems to occur in the same two places. Exchanging your game disc for a new one has worked for some.
Questions for those that got through:
If you were able to complete the Episode VI superstory:
When, during your progress, did you go through the superstory? i.e. - was it the first or last bonus mission for each episode? did you have all the minikits? how many undefeated achievements? how many gold bricks, etc.?
Did you get through the first time?
If not, what did you do differently?
Thanks again for any help you can provide.
Lastly, let's not create a flame war against the game developers here. Believe me, I can personally understand the frustration, but this will not solve anything! Instead, please use this thread to help research the issue, and hopefully we'll come up with the exact solution for the problem at hand.
Note To Forum Moderator: A sticky on this subject would be really helpful. Thanks.
GOOD NEWS!!!! I just got through it! Here is what I did...
FeralKitty got me thinking, so I tried to get the game to freeze in regular story mode. I played just that chapter again, and no freeze. However, I kind of got trapped in the river with R2. Hmmm....
So... I tried the superstory one more time trying to recreate my "mistake." I took control of R2 when I got to the river, went into it BUT DID NOT CROSS IT. Instead, I went a little to the left, and let everyone else cross the river before me. Then, I crossed the river last. No freeze. Woohoo!
Fast forward to DeathStar II, and I am getting that sinking feeling again... Only in this level did I turn off vibration. Luckily, I had no issue and got the brick.
Tad - if you can find it within you to try again, I would try this method at the river. Now, it could be due to the fact that I played story mode twice, or that I did this river thing with R2. I would give it a go on the regular level first to avoid any more frustration. I sure wish you the best of luck, and look forward to your victorious post! :)
Thanks FeralKitty for the info/idea about regular story.
If anyone else is having trouble with the game freezing and the solution above works for you, then please post here and let us know.
Congrats Hermit! Just completed 1000/1000 here.

I cant get the glitch right...and there is no way I will be able to get it legit
I had Death Star freeze 3 times in regular story mode and it was when the reactor was exploding and at the same time I was getting the true jedi so I focused more on the studs and got true jedi BEFORE the core detinating and I got through it.

This worked great for me THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had the game freeze as well when trying to escape the death star at the end of ROTJ. Tried a couple of atempts with the vibration off only for it to continue to freeze at the same point. Finaly managed to complete the level by having the vibration on and delibratly allowing the flames to catch up and kill me (twice) right before where the game would freeze.
Don't know if this is just coincidental or what....anyway took about 5 attempts until I got passed it using method above.
I didn't have a single freeze throughout the entire game but I'm also playing on the 360 version, not the Xbox version that's on the BC list which isn't the same. Not sure if thats the problem but BC games do tend to freeze a lot.
I really don't think it's a problem with the game itself, rather a problem with your systems. It may be triggered at the same spot but it doesn't mean it's the game.
As for not getting through the level in time, I also had this problem no matter how quickly I went through the level. I was down to the last second on the last chapter and thought I was going to make it but ended up running over a minute and a half. I let the level complete since I was going to give up but I recieved the gold brick anyways. I did collect over 100,000 studs but the completion time was over an hour. I'm not sure if it was a glitch or the requirement for completing it in and hour or less to get the brick is inaccurate.

You should be able to just get 100,000+ total studs, and it will give you the brick. Ironically, I had tried this so many times before finding the Endor river workaround that I actually completed Episode VI on time.
First try on superstory mode - locked up exiting the death star. No change was made to my gamplay as I was unaware of the potential lock up
Second try, tried turning of rumble (for the whole of the story) and ended up getting the endor lock up. Did this after reading posts on the forum, so perhaps the endor lock up happens because the rumble had been turned off??
Third try, left rumble on up until I came to do the death star. Completed successfully this time. So perhaps rumble off causes the endor one, and rumble on causes the death star one??
This has happened to me now aswell, I was R2D2 at the time and I had destroyed the flowers just before.
Has anyone contacted Lucasarts support about this? I have emailed them and am waiting a reply which they say should be within 48 hours.

Not a coincidents at all, happened to me too. I even sent an email to LucasArts about it. No response yet. but I did finish that level too, just kept trying. :)
