He was being asked questions by the media wherever he went. That and I am giving him the benefit of doubt that he got bored enough to read these forums at least once a month.

In any case, I can assure you that not all threads moved to "Wish List and Feedback" were supposed to be there, unless you assume a working 360 to be part of a wishlist.

No mod can deny that all hardware failure threads were unnecessarily being hauled off into "no man's land". You just can't.

Also, I really doubt that there is a purpose to the majority of threads in here, if that's the way you look at a technical discussion about how the Internet works.

So you're saying only 2 threads were made?

I don't get your point...you're saying I am lying about those hardware threads in "Wish List and Feedback". You think I am lying about how my "My Forums" list used to get reduced by like 10 threads every morning?

Sure, you can call me a troll, but that would be just about as credible as saying that the 360 never had hardware issues.

i think what we have here is an inaccurate assumption that the Wishlist and Feedback forum is not visible by the public.  that forum is viewable.  moving a thread there does not make "hidden" etc.  if your issue is that it's not a highly populated forum such as the general Xbox 360 one, then i'm not sure what to say beyond the fact that maybe people want to talk about better things?

But yeah, way to completely own me there.

OK now we're getting somewhere.

there was a question mark behind what i posted i believe as if to identify i was asking a question not making a statement.

all this time you've been referring to threads being moved to the Wishlist forum as some kind of bad thing.  i figured perhaps your issue was a "i don't think it'll be seen" type of thing.

I don't know man....I wish I were a mod to effectively answer that question. I guess I really don't have anything more to add to what I have said up until now.

I always thought moving was a bad thing unless they were meant to be there in the first place, but I was obviously wrong.

The point I think he's trying to make is that sometimes threads are moved there so they can die.  The wishlist and feedback fourm has little to no traffic.   I can guarentee you without a doubt that if everyone who is a regular on the 360 board decided to use the wishlist forum as their main posting board, nothing controversial would be moved there.  Some topics are not moved their because they are supposed to be there, they are moved there to not be seen.

Anyway the locking or deleting threads doesn't bother me at all.  There are times that needs to be done.  What bothers me is Mod's not having the common courtesy to tell you what you did wrong.   Deacon I respect you because almost every single time you've locked a thread you are the last post in that thread explaining why the post was locked.   You did it to me once when I posted something that was already posted.    That is the proper way most message boards operate.

For some Reason MS operates in a completely different fashion.  What happens is a MOD locks a thread and you hear nothing.  You don't know what rule you violated and you don't know why your CUL was lowered.  That pisses people offf so what do they do?   They make another post complaining.  Which makes the fourms a mess with spam.

How hard is it for a MOD to make the last post in a thread and say this thread is locked because "It's off topic".  If a mod is to embarrased to give a reason to lock a thread, then they probably shouldn't of locked it.

What also damages this community is Mods/MVPs lack of respect for each other.   I have never seen a group of mod's on any board undercut each others authority as much as Xbox.com.   I can't tell you how many times I've been posting in a thread in which many  Mod's are posting in and participating in the discussion, only to have a different mod come in and lock the thread.

Who does that?   What kind of jerk would come in and undercut another mod like that?  Mod's should respect each others judgment.   If a Mod/MVP is posting in a thread and involved in a discussion, you don't just go and lock the thread.   Thats just bush league.

I think Deacon would be the first to admit that he doesn't make the last post in every single thread he locks.  With the magintude of threads that are locked, most of the time that is impossible.

I personally had actually had a member report me because they felt I was innapropriate in posting a reason why the thread was locked before locking it because they felt I was acting as if on a power trip by having the last word.

It's a no-win situation.  Some people appreciate it, others don't.  If it is a post that is off-topic I have no problem posting the reason it is being closed.  But if it is an angry flame filled posts.. announcing you are the one locking it is just opening it up to a ton of abusive PM's and constant harrasment.  Many times after that some people feel the need to post another post complaining that their post has been deleted and desire a flame-filled off topic discussion on the unfairness.  Beleive me... embarrasment has nothing to do with it :)

Usually if it is regular posters that I am familiar with (and believe me, I am familiar with a lot of the posters who may have no idea who I am) I usually always post a reson why.  But when you are sifting through hundreds of reported threads, sometimes urgency to remove offensive posts takes precendence over documenting the reason the thread was deleted.

Out of curiousity.. why are you stating Deacon does things one way and MS does things another?  When Deacon locks a thread he is acting as a MOD and follows the same rules. And as it has been stated many times, MOD's are not employees of MS. So in that sense, saying Deacon does things one way and a MOD does it a different way, isn't accurate.

About the CUL being lowered... it really isn't necessary to stare a reason why since the offender is usually very aware why it was since it is only done under certain circumstances.

Lock or delete?  How long is the thread?  Is it over 10 pages with the last 4 pages full of spam and obscenties?  Sometimes it is easier to delete a thread and send a message to the OP and ask them to repost their original post rather than read through pages of of the thread deleting the individual spam/flaming posts.

If locking... perhaps the original question had been answered already but some posters feel the need to keep responding with answer that have already been addressed, keeping the thread unecessarily active. I could see another MOD locking the thread at that time after receiving a report on it.

Unless you have a specific example in mind?

I've never known why, until very recently for me. My 6 got taken away because of some harsh words, but in the end I'm all the more content with a 5. Other than that, most of my CUL changes have been completely unexpected. In truth, I've tried so very hard to lower my CUL in the past few days, and its proven much more difficult than I anticipated.

If I could though, I'd have no CUL for myself at all. Its only another oddity people find a way to judge me by.

Most preferrably, I wouldn't have a name, an avatar, or a gamercard next to me when I post. My words and actions are enough to describe me.

Sorry I should have been more clear.  There are two "separate groups" of people who moderate this site.  There are Mods/MVP's (people like You and Deacon) and there are paid MS People "X".  When I say MS I was referring to the people with "X".   Most (not all) of the "X" people have history's of trying to cover up the truth, trying to delete/lock anything negative.   There only interest in viewing these boards is not to interact with the community, but rather to damage control anything negative.  Most of them are part of the MS PR team and they have no interest in letting us discuss anything controversial.

-No xbox arcade games have been price cut in 2 years.  Deleted.
-1up reports MS has so many repairs in UK that they are outsourcing to Croatia. Deleted.
-A guy has 11 360's break, he records his conversation with support as proof.  Deleted.

You see the pattern?  All these posts I made were with links to a credible gaming site.  It doesn't matter that all that stuff was true with a valid and working link.   What mattered was damage control.

I was punished for posting this stuff.  Why?  It's valid news from  credible gaming websites.   If MS is ashamed of these things then they should do something about it.  The problem is every single one of those problems I mentioned stems from M$'s Greed.   How do you defend that?  How do you give a good reason that not one price of a arcade game has been cut in almost 2 years?   They can't defend that and they can't say it's because they want to milk us for every nickel they can.  So what do they do?  They don't allow us to talk about it and punish people who do.

I mean come on, Pool a XBLA launch game is still 1200 points.   I read on IGN that the developers of pool want to cut the price to 800 points and MS won't allow them to because then people will expect other games to get price cuts.   Hey charging cut throat prices is good for MS, but not for us gamers.  I don't own MS stock and MS doesn't pay me to work for them.  All I know is that stinks for us.  When something stinks for gamers I shouldn't have to sit there and be silent or else I'm not a good MS soilder.
