Afternoon, all!  Man, it's been a crazy day here at work and I'm just now getting goof-off time to get on the forums (been in since 11:30am).  I'm gonna try to get my copy of Halo 3 tonight, unless I pull up to Gamestop and there are too many waiting.  So I might be on tonight since I don't have to be in until 11:45 tomorrow.

beezy-Wow, 3 1/2 carats?  I told my wife not to expect another diamond from me until at least our 10-year anniversary!  That's cool though.  I hope she is able to enjoy the evening you have put together for her b-day.

ethan-I suspect that our unidentified addition to the Halo list isn't a gamerdad at all.  I could be wrong (wouldn't be the first time) but he was spamming the forums yesterday talking about his dormmates in college scoring two copies of H3 and playing all weekend long.  Maybe he'll pop back in to prove me wrong.

All new dads-Welcome to the party!  Feel free to add me to your FL if I don't beat you to it.  I look forward to some great gaming with all of you!

I had to cut and paste this from another thread.  A guy with 37K gamerscore was justifying why he had played over 230 games and hadn't completed any but these extremely easy games.  Enjoy!  I keep his name anonymous to avoid harassment.Smile [:)]

I personally enjoyed King Kong, Open Season, and Surf's Up. Enjoyed them more than I did Gears of War (which I don't think I've even completed Act III of GoW yet).

Also the following night or maybe even the same night I will be holding a "GET TO KNOW HALO 3 EVENT". Where anyone who would like to learn from experienced FPS/Halo players can join in and learn the maps and guns. Also as I do in all MP games I will develop strategies and tactics to outsmart and outplay your competition. These will be sent via PM because we don't want everyone out there to know our strategies Smile [:)]. Just send me a FR, message or we can make a list if you want to join in and learn how to be a better FPS/Halo player.

I don't think we will need 2 rooms.  We often have something happen where a couple of us can't make it.  If we get to big we can split.

I will be playing with my hubby and his kids all weekend so I probably won't be able to play until the following weekend.  Sad [:(]    I think I'm up on my Halo game play.  We spent the weekend playing Halo 1 and 2 to get me up to spead on the story.  I played here and there, but not streight through either of the games.  Hubby is staying up for the midnight release so we will be playing tomorrow afterwork with the kids.  Big Smile [:D]

I played a bit of campaign, and when I thought I was ready for bed, Beezy pulled me into a MP match of his friends and 1 of mine.  There is so much more available than we saw in the beta.  I'll leave the review for Beezy, but I will tell you that for me, it is living up to the hype.

I hope to have an article up on the gamerdads site before too long about my experience in line last night.

Re: Gamerparents 2.0
my quick review: if you liked the other halo games this one is twice as good I mainly bought it to do the campaign mode and to play co-op with the kids the online game is very similar with a few new modes and weapons etc. the one i liked the best so far was a zombie match where 1 guy is a zombie and has to turn everyone else into a zombie. Well worth the money and the standing in line for 1 hr ( talked to a few of the first people who got there and they were waiting since 2:30 in the afternoon  they got their game 15 mins before me :)  i plan on playing online a little but my heart is still with battlefield2

I hate to sound like an old fogey here but isn't Halo3 rated M?  I really don't think there's much point to the rating systems anymore as I saw a ton of kids in the pictures for these launch events at Best Buy.  I even remember the Best Buy flyers mentioning how they are checking IDs.  Seems kind of pointless.  So I'm sure we'll run into the same mob of teenagers screaming into the mics again.

Yeah, regardless, they will find a way to get it anyway as there are many parents who don't care what their kids play (or trust that their kids are smart enough to determine real from fake and right from wrong).

Actually, it looks to me that this is one area that Bungie really made a huge improvement.  Ranked matches are muted.  I beleive the quote from Bungie was that "the scoreboard does all the talking."

The rating system is a rant I am too tired to get into today, but to say the least, I completely agree with you.

After playing it some, is there an obscene amount of blood and language or mostly alien blue blood?  I was wanting to play some coop with my 9 yo and we've historically been pretty strict with games he can play.  Also, can you play 4 player coop split-screen?

The only human blood that I have seen to this point was when my Brute chopper bumped into a full Warthog.  There was a bit, but no gore.  It may still be a pass for him.  The language is ok (so far).  I've seen nothing on 4 player split screen.
