I saw LA Galaxy play Chicago Fire the other morning. And it's not a bad standard of football to be fair. Certain players were given too much time on the ball though, and were allowed to run at the opposition.
Personally I've come to realise that as an audience the US fans want to see really high scoring matches in their sports and really close matches. But that can't be said about football, a 0 - 0 draw can be better to watch than a 6 - 0 game.
Most people like to see a passing game, rather than a direct long ball approach or where players are just driving the ball goalwards at every oportunity!
I think the general public in the US were expecting too much of David Beckham, because he ain't going to score many goals. He'll put a good cross into the box, and if the striker is in a good position there is every chance they could score, but he is a Kobe Bryant who's going to get 30pts a game.
Then sooner the US public accept that, then the more likely they are to accept football as a sport. (I realise that there are Americans who do enjoy football, and I'm sure you agree, but surely you can tell there is gap in quality between the North American leagues, and those in Europe).
