I would have auron cause he's a badass..and second Kimari(I loved his silent badass style). But I only beat X but I played 7 a little of 8 and a little of 9. Almost beat x2..Paynes a badass. So I'm a noob when it comes to Final Fantasy.

ne way...i'd still give my vote 2 ways....Cecil from IV (bad quantum singularity drk turns bad quantum singularity pld) and Auron from X (+2 coolness). and for best baddie, i think Kefka from VI has Sephrioth beat by a small margin....bc he actually succeeded in destroying the world. he was a psychotic monster. i liked him.

Out of all the Final Fantasy games I've played, and out of all the characters I've seen, Sephiroth is by far my favorite. Whether you agree or think my answer is exciting enough for you, is absolutely irrelevant. And no, you don't "get it." Cloud was not the coolest lead character I've seen. Aeris was not the best female character. But Sephiroth was, and is, by far my  favorite.

fair enough EW. ultimately it all boils down to personal opinion and taste. i just wanted to explain a little more in-depth my previous post.....i had an awesome argument all typed out and FireFox crashed, as usual...so here's the adjusted version (what i can remember i wrote.):

Sephiroth was bad quantum singularity. He was ruthless, he killed sweet sweet Aerith, and he was a hell of a nemesis if you continued to read my post, u'd see i said IMO he was #2 baddie all time. That's pretty sweet company, given i've played every FF save for the newest Crystal Chronicles and any Choco Dungeon game.

I dont take anything away from your opinion, we all have em, it's what we r all here for, but the reason i said what i did about the main characters from FFVII is because i feel that FFVII became so mainstream and so iconic that it seems to lose a little of it's luster to me. it feels almost tainted some times, with it's tie in in several places (KH was sweet...but Ehergize? really?). When we look back at FFVII, i think we are all guilty of  "putting the pusy on the pedestal". was it a ground breaking/amazing game? yes. am i dying for it to come out in the US for psn so i can play it w/o hacking my psp? YES! but is it the greatest in the series? eh, thats another thread argument all together.

i was only commenting on XplosivePinata's post that it wasn't an answer out of the ordinary hence boring (actually neither are mine, really. lol) If someone said their fav character was Steiner (ix) or Palom n Porom (iv) or The Red Mage (original) or Ramza (tactics) or Red XIII (vii) or some other really obscure character that no one else had mentioned, then i'd say...wow, that's an interesting pick. why they hell do you love them so much above all others?

p.s.  EW i love the FF passion. and at least this isn't a PS3 vs 360 or FF-Fanboy vs the world argument that is popping up everywhere in this forum.

Not seeing much love for Zell on here. man i loved him he was probably one of the funniest FF chars theres been. other than him id say Cecil since he was pretty cool, and of course Cloud. For the bad guys id say Sephiroth, Yunalesca for the fight, she wasnt a huge char but the fight was really fun and some of the storyline involving her. And of course how could i leave of biggs and wedge? whatever side they were on in whichever game they were both pretty cool.

Having bein a fan of the ff series for a very long time now and having played all of them i come to the decision of having sephiroth as my favourite char. And i know most "die hard" fans of the ff series would say ff6 is the best ff game and kefka is the best char but that is a load of crap. Its actually what i expect from every hardcore ff fan. They have no individuality. I never liked kefka he only went evil cause he couldnt handle a little power and gradually went insane. Which is why i chose sephiroth as he had a genuine reason for going evil. I mean i did like the story in ff6 but i prefered ff7.

vincent-okay, badass a bit emo but i've come to expect that from square's main characters.

auron(sp?) -FFX- is badass.

tidus-was annoying.

vaan-what was the point of that 2d character. hated him.

tifa-likeable.

lulu she's a no nonsense queen, i liked her non-cliche female traits. my fav female character
