Well, you can use the standard MPEG-2 it encodes it at. That however takes up a lot of space and a lot of Video Editing Software does not support it. If you just want to record the video and not mess with it than just upload that file without conversion.

Re: A Beginner's Guide to the Capture Card.
I need a capture device for a mac - want to use iMovie - and the reviews of the Dazzle for the Mac are horrible - basically 9 out of 10 people say don't buy the Dazzle... So can anyone recommend a GOOD capture device for the Mac? I don't want to spend a TON of money, but would also like to capture in HD... Thanks!

You are asking a lot with that statement. To capture in HD is usually an expensive project. The capture cards start at $250 and you need a good desktop mac, not a macbook or imac. Not to mention a lot of fast storage, preferably internal. What do you plan to do with your game recordings?

I have a TV Tuner that I use for a capture card. However, I primarily use it to watch TV on my computer. :)

Total capture card noob here... so am I understanding correctly that in order to use a Dazzle you have to switch to standard TV, you can't play in HD while capturing video??? Thanks.

That is correct. To capture in hd, you would need an hd capture device, the dazzle is SD only.

There is like an 8 second video to audio lag, and sometimes theres the same thing but backwards. I've finished capturing my test run and this is what I find. How do I fix this? (NOTE: I haven't used the any video converter yet.)

Are you recording with the software or another program?

You don't need to burn anything to a disk, unless you want to. WMM is what I use editing videos and creating them.

Re: A Beginner's Guide to the Capture Card.
Not sure if this has been posted before, or even if it is in the right place, but anyway...
Basically, I have had my dazzle platinum for a few months now and have managed to use it successfully on the PS3 with CoD4. Now, however, I need to change my display to play CoD4 on xbox 360 to 60hz. Changing a few options on my dazzle, I get the same quality of picture I got on my PS3 and can record, but on the TV the display is quite fuzzy. It is playable, but irritating. Having checked in my TV manual, my TV does support 60hz. Here is a link for the best description I could find on it: http://www.bargainspy.co.uk/node/105393. Anything I can do to improve my picture quality? Or should I just put up with it.
ThanxSmile [:)]

Re: A Beginner's Guide to the Capture Card.
I'm going to go ahead and apologize if this has already been asked before, but I read through the first couple of pages and didn't see anything about it. I would have gone ahead and checked the rest of this thread, but unfortunately I have run out of time. Now here is what I would like to know. Will I be able to play in HD, while recording in SD with the Dazzle? I'm not that invested in the idea to buy an expensive HD capture card, and I don't want to have to switch to SD just to record a match or two. With my current setup, I have my Xbox 360 running on my computer monitor through component (red, blue, and green). If the Dazzle won't support this, does anyone know the best setup for this idea.

Re: A Beginner's Guide to the Capture Card.
Dazzle does NOT support HD, but you can get better quality vs. composite cables by using s-video cable instead of the regular composite video cable (the s-video is used with the normal composite audio cables, of course). You can find a nice set of s-video cables (w/ the left and right audio cables attached) 6 feet long at Wal-mart for around $15, and  s-video cables that have one end that can plug in to your 360 (w/ the left and right audio cables attached) at Best Buy for between $20 and $30.

I'm not exactly sure if you answered my question. I don't care about recording in HD, I just want to play in HD while recording in SD.
