Re: Ideas for Elder Scrolls V3
Well, I for one get annoyed that if you kill someone in a remote place, all the guards around Cyrodiil know. I mean, I don't mind killing somone in a house and having a chance that you might heard or found out or somthing, but even then, it should only be the guards in the town, not the whole place. But if I kill somone in a forest or mountain and there are no witnesses, then why does the whole world know? It's nearly impossible to comit murder and get away with it now. I hope they change this.

I'm almost positive that murders have to be witnessed in order to get a bounty.  I think it even has to be witnessed in order to gain infamy, but I'm less sure about that.

Dude. My cousin was just over playing the game two days ago. We killed all three of those evil guys with the squid statue up in the mountains far northwest of Bruma. We walked into Bruma just fine after that. We even attacked two Imperial guards that were attacking each other with bows for some reason. I told him not to kill them because I'd never seen two Imperial archers attacking each other like that. One killed the other and then went nuts chasing a deer around. We followed him until he shot it with an arrow and then we killed him too. Took his armour and then walked right into Bruma which was literally 100 meters from where we killed this guard and shot the other one. Someone must have seen you make the kill. If you can kill all the witnesses and make sure no one is within earshot of their screaming, you're good to go.

I came accross two imperial bowmen trying to kill each other just the other day myself. There were a couple of dead dear nearby so I can only guess that one bowman had accidently hit the other thus starting the fight.

You only quoted the portion of my post that you wanted to quote. Requote me and try again. Btw, if you kill someone in the woods and a certain town's guards goes after you for it, unfortunately, someone saw you make the kill. Just the other day I brought a guard out into the woods because someone was after me and I didn't want to level anything else up. So I needed to get a guard to attack and kill him. So I did. Then I saved it and killed the guard. I ran into the town like this and had no problems with any of the guards. You have bad luck, my friend. In real life, if you commit a crime bad enough, they put out an APB on your quantum singularity. Believe me, it's fairly realistic. In those days, stealing was as bad as killing is now. Killing was the devil.

In this game if there are witnesses you can hear them yelling. If they end up dead and you're the only one around when a guard shows up, or the only one in the area and they find you later, they're obviously going to put it on you. It's quite realistic.

The only thing I have a problem with is if you're in the shadows high up on a roof sniping with a bow and they can somehow pin-point where you were shooting from immediately. Then when you dip into an alley and run out of the town unnoticed they can still find you. That aspect bothers me. Everything else is fine.

yeah i only quoted that part because that was the only part that i wanted to make a point on.... "Btw, if you kill someone in the woods and a certain town's guards goes after you for it, unfortunately, someone saw you make the kill." and plz corect me if my logic is misguided but if i shoot a ranger in the woods with my bow while in stealth mode and i kill him with one shot and my aimer, which is see thru while in stealth mode until i am detected, remains see thru untill i enter a town then doesnt that mean i was undetected from before my arrow flew until a town guard runs up on me at the city gates and busts me??? and to be undetected means that no one knew  i was there right?? and yes i know killing is considerd a high crime in the game but for the guards to run up and bust me then there should have been some chance that i was seen... this is only plausible in a town and if i slip up and the person doesnt die on the first strike and screams... if that hapend then i wouldnt be surprised if a guard ran in, or met me on the street outside the house, and busted me... but for me to remain undetected and get busted for seemingly no reason after i have been wandering the town streets aimlessly for the last 3 game hours does not make any since in the least... and no i am not dumb enough to stick around the body after i kill them so the guard can run up and put 2 and 2 together.... for enstance i killed a town begger on a empty part of town... i was in stealth mode and at no point was i detected.... i walked on the other side of town and was about to go into a shop and hear comes mr phycic guard!!!!!! WTF!!!!

No seriously, a guard probably found the body and then blamed it on you. Did he die in one hit?

yes i killed the guy in one shot...."a guard probably found the body and then blamed it on you".... seriously that defies all realism.... i know it is a game but its rediculis.... why would a guard single me out... with no witnesses, no leads, and no clues to point at me??? did oblivion spawn a CSI unit when i wasnt paying atention and they used pherensic sciences and found a microscopic wool string that matches the fibers on my characters shirt on the vic??? the game is set in a midevil era!!!!  guards back then didnt give a rats a$$ about a begger found dead in an ally way... or any other comoner... for all they knew it might have been the plague and they would have stayed far away from that carcas... now if it was their lord, aristocrat, fellow guard or some one in the mid society range then yeah they might get flustord... or if they whitnissed it themselves or if they were emediatly informed about it then they would act to keep the town panic down.... and if u are caught killing someone i think there should be a chance that they might not even give u a chance to pay it off... if murder is such a high crime to them then why let a lil coin make it all good and better... this would make for a good fight and run senario.... run for the woods and hide for a while... watch for rangers and maybe bounty hunters.... and sneak in at night and destroy wanted posters and then u can roam the streets again

Yeah,. it's silly. I can understand they are trying to be realistic by having that it's hard to murder someone and get away with it, like in real life, it's just too hard. I have a charatcer who likes to murder people, but he will only do so if he can get away with it, and it's really hard.

I like the Warhammer universes, however I don't think they'd do well with TES

For the darker story/atmosphere... I dunno how I'd feel about it.  TES is all about freedom and balance between good and evil (Note: Not like Fable, The story just has a general neutrality to it).

Implementing a Good/Evil system would be really cool, but it has yet to make a major break through in terms of effecting actual gameplay.  Fable, the Bioware games, and Fallout 3 have it, but it doesn't do much to the actual story aside from selected cutscreens.

Personally, I don't think it will happen this console generation, but probably sometime in the next one, where games will be able to effectively use a Good/Evil system.

i really cant wait for a true good evil system.... i'm thinking maybe dragon age will get pretty close to it but that is still to be unseen... i would also like to be treated acording to my alignment... not in a shalow since as fable does  by people running from me and screamin but in an more indepth style... like if i am a suspected mass murderer people should avoid me... shop owners could posibly refuse to sell me there goods with the classic line "we dont serve ur kind here"... people could group together and try to atack me... sneak into my inn and kill me in my sleep... i think this could also add to a darker game invironment.... if ur good bad people will treat u like the plague knowing u could do them in... they could possibly also try to kill u if u become to renown and they fell ur a threat to them

I agree. Warhammer is a great world, but TES is more about high fantasy and so I can't see a dark setting fitting in with it.

That would be cool. but they'd have to implement it in moderation, i mean you dont want a good twenty people attacking you every night when u try to sleep, just being occasionally jumped in an alley. This would work well if he guards didnt react to every goddamn thing that happens to you. Also maybe you should be able to report crimes. This could be good in assassin/theives guild missions where a diversion is required.

of course it would have to be in moderation.... otherwise it would be as repetive as every bandit wearing full daedric trying to mug me.... i think their numbers could be determined by ur lvl and ur renown.... u could wake up in bed and have 2 people trying to kill u at an early lvl or at higher lvls wake up and the room be packed with people with swords and tourches staring u down... and it shouldnt happen often eather... like have a 2-7% chance of it happining if u sleep in a inn... also would be cool to have oposing factions involved in this... like if ur an imperial legion and have been hunting down the DBH u could wake up in ur house and have a assassin or 2 sneaking into ur room.... or if ur in the fighters guild u could be walking down a street and some black wood company thugs step out in front of u and atempt to break some of ur bones... stuff like that could be implimented at a low % chance rate or at key stages of questlines... or both

kinda.... i think there could be something like that outside the inn when u leave it Smile [:)].... a guy could step forward and be like " ok we know all the evil u have caused and we have noticed u've been sticking around here longer than we would like.... so here's ur choice u can leave now and we wont touch u or we can drag ur lifeless body through town and display at the gates for all of ur kind to see... the choice is urs".... u would then leave the town... or atack someone and face the mob.... i think random events like that would really set the game apart

Thats kinda like the bandit system now except with the good evil thing implemented. the bandits were crap. They were more of an annoyance than somthing to get excitied about so they'd have to improve the way they spring out at you - as u said more of them at a time- and the like.

Speaking of BG I love Viconia DeVir, I'm quite happy there's a mod that brings her into Oblivion.

Yeah, some actual followers in TES V would be nice I suppose.

Well, you already have some like once you become the leaders of the guilds.

Yeah, but those characters don't really have any personality (which is what I was getting at).

It's not like Baldur's Gate where if Minsc dies I become genuinely sad and reload a save just to try and save him, because he is a character that has a personality. Why would I care if "Fighter's Guild Member" dies? I know nothing about them and they have no personality to them. To the player, that character is just "Fighter's Guild Member #369" who helps them kill things, not a character they would actually like.
