Fix for online lag/stuttering

Kaedryl 11-29-2005, 1:55 AM

Copy and pasted from gamefaqs.com:

This is per ezkial rage and UScr00ge, and I just tested it -- just adding this topic for those visiting to try and get it fixed:

You must stop any sharing between your Xbox and PC. So, on your Xbox:

1) Go to the system blade
2) Choose computers
3) Choose the highlighted option (Windows-based PC or Windows Media Center)
4) Disconnect the connection.

Your online races should now be good!

This worked for me too as it was terrible before the 'fix'.

Thanks for posting this.

I'll try this out, but it would be nice if they would fix it correctly with an update or something. This is very irritating and I don't like to have to do fixes like that.

pretty sad this is the only game that does this.

Is this situation only pertaining to routers and the wireless network cards for Xbox 360?

Thanks for that, it cured the problem for me too, I hope Namco/Microsoft will fix the problem (and not just leave it like they did with many Xbox1 bugs e.g. score tables on Outrun 2)

I should add my network is 100% wired no wireless in sight

wow, i traded this game in because the online gameplay was lag/studdering...but i always listen to music while i race, so the fix would eliminate my music listening.....so i'm not upset i traded it...it was a mediocre game anyways.

I realize this works.. but PLEASE STOP CALLING IT A FIX! Its not.. its a WORK-A-ROUND. This is a PITA problem considering everytime you disconnect your media pc from the XBox, you have to re-pair them back up and it creates a new security account each time on your Media PC.

Lets call it what it is.. A work-a-round for a stupid problem that shouldn't exist and MUST BE FIXED by the game maker/microsoft. Its stupid this can make it out with this kind of problem.

I dont get much lag online like everyone else. the only lag i see is when your racing online and someone comes into the room or leaves the room. it seems to kinda miss a few frames. but i do recommend this game to racers. lots of fun and lots to do.

i'll never buy an overpriced ipod with a irreplaceable battery. just because u2 says it's cool, doesn't make it cool. other companies have been making units that do the same thing as an ipod, but better. (iriver, creative etc)..

I agree this is a "Work Around" check out the response I got from Namco on this issue:

To: support
Subject: Re: Ridge Racer 6 won`t work on Xbox live

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Disconnecting from my PC does indeed cure the problem, but is a little
inconvenient. Will there be a software patch issued to correct this
issue in future?

Thank you

Matthew.

To which they replied:

Thank you for contacting Namco Hometek's Customer Support Department.

Sorry, we have no information on a patch for Ridge Racer 6. Unfortunately
console games can't be patched only PC titles.

Please feel free to contact us again in the future as the need arises.

Looks like we are stuffed then, add it to the list of known 360 bugs!

lol its all on preference i guess. and i guess you cant afford an ipod so you bash it. i've owned or tried the others and prefer the ipod period. theres a reason its number 1 mp3 player on the market. Yes you can get a replacment battery for your ipod. (just not as easy as the others). and just so you know alot of apples stuff is over priced but very nice/quailty stuff.

serpico007 12-19-2005, 12:32 AM
I agree with you Filter15.  It's all a matter of choice.  You pay more for higher quality products.  Mercedes or Honda, still gets you from point A to point B.  iPod or another MP3 player, still plays music either way.  We could have all bought a PS2 this Christmas and saved some cash, but we all decided on a 360!  Big Smile [:D]

uh, and ipod is an overpriced proprietary piece of garbage, yea, it works, but several others are cheaper and work better.  it's the technological idiots out there making ipod #1, yea, i have an ipod, lol, but i got it for free, i would never go buy one for myself, i know all to well how it's lacking, and anything proprietary like that is just total garbage.

beyond that, i think this is stupid, i use the streaming video alot with media center pc, and do have to repair them everytime i want to use it now is just stupid.  i can't believe namco is not gonna patch it, thats so rediculous, and i can't stream my music while i play this game online, i don't understand that.

Wow! Thanks for this guys. Got Ridge Racer today and was totally shocked how bad the framerate was durning online mode...glad this fixed the problem. Microsoft should inform more people about these problems.!

PRoPHeTiZeR 01-20-2006, 6:42 PM
this shouldn't be a problem, they should insist namco fix the problem.  it's just bad coding on the developers end.

Wow, you must be The Smartest Digital Music Guy on Planet Earth.  Must be hard to get your head through the door with all the gray matter you must have.

So what you're saying is that you're smarter than the people ('techological idiots' you called them) that bought 14 MILLION iPods over the 2005 Christmas holiday season?

I'm impressed.  I bow before your obvious greatness.  And while I'm down there, can I kiss your feet?

You have to wonder sometimes, how did this very very obvious fault get out on the disc? I mean, it's not like it's a well hidden problem, or you can't notice it. Was no testing done online??? There must have been some.

They probably did test it but as we all know, when deadlines exist, you ship it out anyway.  We all are beta users for every manufacturer and developer!  Nothing is 100% when we buy it! Stick out tongue [:P]

Woohoo! It works!

Honestly, I thought that Namco simply didn't know how to write net code. Thanks for proving me wrong. Once I disabled the connection to my PC the game ran smooth as butter online. Only tried a couple of races, but it was 8 players with a Japanese host, and none of the previous stutter. No perceptable lag either, I was impressed.

Now I have a reason to play Ridge Racer.

Cheers
