For people having problems with their 360 detecting their PC.

My problem was that my pc found my 360 just fine, but the 360 wouldnt find my pc. This solved it for me. I posted this in another thread, and some people found this to work. Firstly make sure your 360 is on:

1) Double Click "My computer", Select Tools -> Folder Options.

2) In the Folder Options windows, select the "View" tab.

3) Select "Show hidden Files and folders", and UNcheck "Hide protected operating system files".

4) Hit Apply, Hit Ok.

5) Double-Click on your C drive. If you see a folder called DRM then goto step 7.

6) Double-Click the "Documents and Settings" folder, double-click the "All Users" folder.

7) Double-Click the "DRM" folder, Click Edit -> Select All. Then Delete.

8) Select Tools -> Folder Options.

9) In the Folder Options windows, select the "View" tab.

10) Select "Do not Show hidden Files and folders", and check "Hide protected operating system files".

11) Goto your 360, Select Music or Pictures, Select Computer, Select Yes, and hopefully your pc will now be found. If not, then your problem lies somewhere else. Sorry.

hmmm... Goto Start -> Run , Type in "regedit" without quotes. Expand "HKEY Local Machines" -> Expand "Microsoft" -> Expand "DRM". Double Click on the file in the right side of the window called "DataPath". In the new window called "Edit Binary Value" it should list the datapath to your drm folder along the rightside, itll look kind of scrambled.

I found it and deleted everything. Probably about 10 files but the "Cache" folder won't delete and the "drmstore.hds" file won't delete.

Shoot I keep forgetting to mention things I did, heres my revised walkthrough:

1) Make sure your 360 is on.

3) Find the service called "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Serivce", Right-Click on it and select Stop. Close the Window.

4) Double Click "My computer", Select Tools -> Folder Options.

5) In the Folder Options windows, select the "View" tab.

6) Select "Show hidden Files and folders", and UNcheck "Hide protected operating system files".

7) Hit Apply, Hit Ok.

8) Double-Click on your C drive. If you see a folder called DRM then goto step 7.

9) Double-Click the "Documents and Settings" folder, double-click the "All Users" folder.

*If you still cant find your DRM folder, Goto Start -> Run , Type in "regedit" without quotes. *

14) Goto Start -> Run: Type in "services.msc" without quotes.

15) Find the service called "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Serivce", Right-Click on it and select Start.

16) Go into Windows Media Player 11, and make sure your 360 is detected and "Allowed" to share.

17) Goto your 360, Select Music or Pictures, Select Computer, Select Yes, and hopefully your pc will now be found. If not, then your problem lies somewhere else. Sorry.

All I know is, it stands for "Digital Rights Management". I guess its for managing video/audio files that are copy protected.

Make sure you disable your sharing before you try to delete those files.

The italics part is only for people who cant find the DRM folder after steps 8 and 9. The italics part will tell you where the DRM folder is located.

In the "edit binary value" window, do you see a directory path? its scrambled up ... mine reads like this:

.C.:.\.D.

o.c.u.m.

e.n.t.s.

.a.n.d.

.S.e.t.

t.i.n.g.

s.\.A.l.

l. .U.s.

e.r.s.\.

D.R.M.

Which essentially reads out to: C:\Documents And Settings\All Users\DRM

So once you get that directory path , GO to that directory and continue on with step 11.

You should NOT be deleting anything in your registry. Once your done with find the directory path to your DRM folder, close regedit!

Re: For people having problems with their 360 detecting their PC.

hmmm, did you re-enable the service? Try manually creating the "DRM" Folder, although I dont think it would make a difference, I believe once you start WMP11 itll regenerate that folder. But do it anyway.

So this is what I would do:

1) Run WMP11, check to see if your DRM folder regenerated, if not just manually create the folder.

2) Make sure WMP11 cann see your 360 and is "Allowed" to share media.

3) Continue on with step 11.

and no problem, anytime.

Re: For people having problems with their 360 detecting their PC.

You know ive been having this problem for the longest time, for a good 5-6 months now. Yesterday I had my dayoff and just decided im gonna crack this thing without formatting my computer, heh. And to tell you the truth it was pretty simple to figure out. I went into my event viewer and noticed that every time the windows media share service started there was a problem with it starting up, the event viewer said something about "it could not start due to DRM corruption issues" or something along those lines. so I started searching the web on how to fix "A corrupted DRM", I found a site which explained howto "reset" the DRM by basically deleting everything inside its folder. So once I did this and reenabled the windows media service I got a new message in my eventviewer saying "Windows media sharing has started, you are now sharing media throughout your network" .... Low and behold after I did that everything works like butter.

I must say, im LOVING this video streaming. Im so glad I was able to find a solution on time.

All you need do is find "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Serivce", Right-Click on it and select Stop, then Start.

The DRM stuff seems to be superfluous if this does the trick..

Personally i'd suggest just removing windows media 11.

Its not worth it really, not until they fix the obvious bug where it doesn't work with media connect and xbox's can't detect the pc.

So if you are still having problems. Remove WMP 11 and go back to 10. You can find a guide in goggle for reolling back. Once done reinstall media connect the thing from www.xbox.com/pcsetup

Wii60. 360 needs its own Zelda =(

Microsoft, please add more xbox games to the backwards compatibility list!

You don't need to download media connect if you have wmp 11. I tried everything and in the end this is what I did-

1. download media player 11

2. got to the library options and select media sharing, if your 360 isn't listed turn off all firewalls then check again, it should be listed then. It will have a yellow exclamation mark next to it. Select the 360 icon and then select the "allow" button.

3. I had to disable my firewall to see it (norton), check if the link works ie. try and stream some muisc / video from your pc to your 360. If it works (and it should do) you can now turn your firewall back on and you should not have any other problems.

Like I said I was about to give up on it entirely, but I tried this and it works seamlessly with music, picutres and video. Just looking for a dvd to wmv convertor now. Any suggestions?

May the Schwartz be with you!

Thanks LeafDynamo, deleting everything inside the DRM folder did the trick!

You can use tools like "uPNP Tester" to check that uPNP is working correctly with WMP11. If it works "uPNP Tester" will show a device named "Microsoft Windows Media Player Sharing".
