Need 16:10 Resolution Support... 1440x900... 1680x1050...

I play my xbox360 on a computer monitor and all widescreen computer monitors are not 16:9 but 16:10. This includes resolutions such as; 1280x800, 1440x900 and 1680x1050. I use a VGA Cable to connect my 360 to the monitor and the VGA Cable is obviously intended for monitor use, which is absurd considering all the widescreen resolutions it supports are 16:9. So when I play I'm looking at a picture that is stretched vertically... Everyone looks skinny. Considering Microsoft recently updated the 360 to support 1080p I'm sure they could easily make 16:10 resolutions accessible.

I'm gonna post something similar everywhere on the Forums until it's done . Why the huge jump in resolution , while totally ignoring very common ones for most widescreen LCD's ? Not everyone went out and spent $ 800 on a Dell or BenQ .

Thats where you are wrong.  I definently get  a TRUE HD experience on my 20.1 widscreen monitor.  Your saying that there is no difference between a sd and hd on anything smaller then a 30inch is bullcrap!!!  I can afford a hd tv but why do that when I can sit at the comfort of my computer chair with surround sound.  By the way my monitor was 800 dollars.

The only reason they don't support 16:10 is because they don't give a f-k.

No, the reason they don't support it is because it's considered to be a non-standard ratio. I would love to see 1680x1050 added as that's my max resolution, but I know it's not a standard so I won't hold my breath.

Ive had this monitor for about a year now, and I just got into using the HD in the last month or so. I was noticing that while in 720p it stretches the picture and it goes off on the sides. I was wondering how you are setting the resolution? PLMK Thank You

yep, i just gt the vga cables, and i have a 1600x1050 native resolution lcd monitor. i was not impressed with the picture i was getting, i have to sit a good distance away so i dont see the jaggies my sdtv in s-video mode did not show jaggies, and even doing so, some of my games still look kind of bad. I think microsoft should make the 16:10 resolutions granted, I mean newer lcd monitors and such have these resolutions so why not. Im sure the games will look really good 2. they dont look bad, but the jaggies and the blur you get kills the experience of wut ur suppose to see. C'MON M$ DONT FORGET US....LISTEN!!..pls?

Maybe we should petition this!!

I'll put my two cents in as well.  My Gateway FPD2185W is 16:10 native 1680x1050.  From what I can tell this is a fairly standard widescreen monitor resolution so it would be great to see it supported on the 360.

1680x1050 would be cool. i think it looks fine in 1080i or 720p, but, if it could be better...i wouldn't complain.

yeah i started a thread like this months ago man i want more resolutions i got an

LG  20.1 Flatron L204WT  LCD monitor

and its freaking amazing and i wana use it to its fullest on a 1680 x 1050 reaolution. Ive see top of the line HD tv's running the games and they dont look this crisp i was to ticked with the new up dat i mean WTF why the *** would they put in a freakin resolution of 1920 x 1080 most people who run the 360 on a HD tv run it throught the proper cables not the vga cables that res is useless for nearly everyone

Hey Sick , can you get that Flatron to run either 1280x768 or 1360x768 ? My monitor , the very same as yours , can't seem to do either of these two resolutions . I have to leave it at 1280x1024 and I'm sure it could look better if I just a couple of more choices ... such as 1680x1050 . Give those two res. a try and let me know if either can work , i.e., the monitor reads them correctly .

The problem is there are soo many "standard" monitor resolutions. Microsoft has made a reasonable effort to pick some of the wider used standards, but i wonder just how much effort would be required to support every monitor resolution "standard" thats out there????

Probably none, it is all taken care off in the driver to the Graphics GPU chip. they can do it, they just don't want to.

Apple® - 20" Flat-Panel TFT-LCD Cinema Display

Gateway - 22" Widescreen Flat-Panel TFT-LCD HD Monitor

Hewlett-Packard - 22" Widescreen Flat-Panel TFT-LCD Monitor

Samsung - SyncMaster 22" Widescreen Flat-Panel TFT-LCD Monitor

Westinghouse - 22" Widescreen Flat-Panel TFT-LCD Monitor

Seems like a fairly standard widescreen monitor resolution to me.  That was just found by going to Best Buy and looking at their widescreen monitor page.  Apple, Gateway, HP, Samsung, and Westinghouse.  It's not like these are random monitors from some no-name brand.

You all are probably talking about the westinghouse lcm-19w4 widescreen monitor, correct? Ok, heres what you want to have this monitor set at. set your xbox360 to 1280x768 and then go back to the xbox dashboard where you can see the blades.  now press and hold the second button from the top on the monitor. the one labeled auto. this will auto calibrate the display and match everything up with this resolution. I asure you this is the best resolution. you may be tempted to select a higher resolution thinking it will be better but trust me its not. I also recomend setting this display up with the srgb color temp settings and putting the sharpness on 5. hope this helps.

Well, if you're using component you're not going to be able to use the "Full HD" 1920x1080p.  You have to use a VGA HD cable for 1080p, and very very few HDTVs support 1080p through component.  My Samsung also won't accept 1080p through component, only through HDMI. So, it's not just Sony TV's that don't have 1080p from component, I'm stuck too.

I just wish that there will be a solution for this soon!

Yes 1680x1050 resolution support please!

I believe the vga cable does support 1280x768 resolution which is a 16:10 aspect ratio. So there is no reason it can't support other 16:10 ar resolutions.
