First of all, I'm not going to waste my time PMing everybody in this thread.  Honestly I don't care that much about Goldeneye.  I enjoyed it, but never got into the multi-player.

Yeah, but you didn't give the url or the name of the project.  Plus, I doubt many people knew about it.

This issue was settled last year.  The game could have come to reality but Nintendo still has partial ownership in the publishing rights and they have voiced that they do not think they should allow a game that they published to be allowed on a competitors system.

If nintendo and microsoft can not come up with an agreement on goldeneye, why dont they get the rights from activision and make a new one from scratch? Give it a RARE touch.

Not sure if anyone thought of this but what if rare got the rights to remake The World Is Not Enough?  They could include everything goldeneye had in terms of weapons maps etc.  Sure the game isn't nearly as good as goldeneye, and we wouldn't have the great single player, but I think it could fill the void until nintendo pulls their heads out of their a_s_ses. They could also release remade maps packs from  agent under fire, and nightfire. What does everyone else think?

Why not remake the greatest fps classic and put on the xbox live market place?

I will ABSOLUTELY sign on to this.  I was all excited because I saw results for "Goldeneye 007 Xbox" etc when I typed it into Google and I thought they were doing it, but then I saw they cancelled it.  Ugh.

There have been so many terrible incarnations of the 007 franchise on SO many different platforms...I say either do a new one and include Goldeneye (the n64 version) as a bonus, or offer a fully-revamped and online-ready version of the original Goldeneye 007 for all current platforms. 

We need this game.  Period.

Instead of fighting against each other, they'd just both be sticking it to Sony and it'd be a work around to offering a title they own a stake in on a competitor's console.

Would you want an SD, waggle version, or a HD version, with XBL, and a controller designed around FPS games? Generally if you love FPS games you have a 360 in your console collection.

They've done successful FPS games on Wii, and aren't "waggle" based. They're not perfect, but then neither is using a 360 controller compared to a mouse and keyboard.

But it's personal preference. It's not about what you or I or anyone would prefer, as long as it's getting purchased on one or the other.

Granted the demographic on 360 is probably more in line with who would be buying Goldeneye, but if it allowed for Nintendo to make revenue off of their own version in addition to revenue sharing from the 360 version, it gets around the issue of Nintendo releasing a product on a competitor's console since it then becomes essentially a 1st party/3rd party hybrid multi-platform release.

Thats exactly the problem. From what has been reported in the gaming press, neither Microsoft nor Nintendo could come to a agreement they were both happy with financially.

Unfortunately both companies are obviously greedy, and care more about how they share the profit, than giving their customers what they want.

It's true that's why, but all I've heard was related to money over it being released only on XBLA. I never heard anything about it being released on Wii.

Doesn't really solve the problem, just hypothetically it at least balances it out more. After all, if I was Nintendo I wouldn't want to give people any reason to purchase a 360 over a Wii, and having Goldeneye be an XBLA exclusive could do that.

By releasing it on both, all it would do is bring someone over from possibly purchasing a PS3, which is beneficial to both Nintendo and Microsoft.

On gamespot uk, there is a rumor going around that a goldeneye remake for the wii in the works for 2010.  They're calling it "looking not bogus"  If true this could be great news as microsoft would have to give their consent for a wii release.  We all know that rare's remake is already finished and could be launched on 360 next year as well. Lets hope.
