Re: RETURN, REPAIR, and SHIPPING DISCUSSION (Thread 2)
This console belongs in the trash. I just bought my 3rd console after two years of boycotting Xbox for being garbage, although I love the games (long story short my first two systems had many problems. As soon as I would get one problem fixed, within a month i'd be sending it back out for another, more expensive fix.). I'd heard a lot about Microsoft making them more reliable due to the well known issues with the original hardware, so I go buy my 3rd... And what do you know? The damn thing freezes 4 times in the space of 20 minutes.. or however long it takes to get to the part in Fable II where you beat up the little kid who is hitting girls. So, I figure oh hey maybe it's just Fable II not the Xbox... I put in GTA 4... Same story, it's freezing like a 1999 Gateway computer. Barely get through the first mission before the first crash and many more follow. Overall i'd say it froze up ~8 times in one hour, I spent more time staring at my screen clenching my controller thinking, "Is this really happening?" than I actually did playing.

Just curious has anyone used an outside repair service like 360 Pros? Just wondering if another repair center would actually fix the problem instead of putting a bandaid on it?

Sounds like they might but they also may just as well do a bandaid repair.

This is SPAAARKSTEALTH (insert kick down well here)

They have been repairing for some time now so I figured I could track down someone who has used the service. I'm sure we all wish there was a permanent fix to the problem. I know MS can make a solid product my original xbox is a testament to that I've had it since launch and never had so much as a game freeze.

Quick question for the people that have received a repair console.  I just got mines back today from MS and Manufacture date is gone, now it says service date on the console.  Did this happen to anybody else that got their console back?

The first console I received back from "repair" actually did not say that, it was a replacement not the same one I sent to them. That was in 2007. My second one should arrive today or tomorrow so I'll post about that one when I get it. I see on-line that the serial number has changed so like with my original I'm getting a refurb.

Cool that's what I thought, thanks for the clarification.  I am happy I got my old console back and not a refurbished one.

Well I never thought id hear myself praising MS.But my Xbox got ring of death and within 7 days total I have a brand new box back and up and running. The whole proses done over xbox.com and using ups as their carrier it went without a hitch, So yes I shouldn't have had to do it as its their, fault in the first place but i have to say the whole proses of repair/exchange was first class.

So far my repaired Pro is doing good.  I did notice some things between my New Arcade console and the Pro.  I noticed the Jasper Arcade console produces more heat then the Falcon Pro model.  Also the Disc Drives in the Pro is better then the Arcade model.  I have a disc thats kind scrathed up but in the Pro it plays normal but in the Arcade I get the "can't read disc error" fairly often while playing.

I got my console back yesterday and it says Service Date on the back. This sucks because you can no longer tell how old the replacements are compared to the console you send back. I guess Microsoft doesn't want people to know they are still replacing broken consoles with older units :)

Wow, super fast 'repair' time right here.

I got the email saying 'Console Received' on June 11, 2009 10:46:50 AM

I got the email saying 'Repair Completed' on June 11, 2009 1:45:58 PM

So pretty obvious I'll just be getting an old refurb...

That seems to be the story with alot of people lately. I guess if nothing else at least they're speeding up the process. Hope mine moves that quickly.

Re: RETURN, REPAIR, and SHIPPING DISCUSSION (Thread 2)
What a gdamn fiasco. So I was on my second repair after it died again after less than one year from the first. They sat on it for two weeks 5/21 - 6/7. To do what exactly is beyond me. Recieved it today 6/11 and guess what? It's still friggin RROD. So I suffered through the horrible automated phone service to have someone that can barely speak a lick of english tell me to enter another repair through the online repair service. Wait, it gets better...

So I cannot enter a new request for repair because the registered console doesn't show up in the list. It's still stuck in the check repair status portion of the site despite all steps being "completed", even the one for repair which is laughable since its still busted. So I have to call yet again and get yet another person that struggles with the english language to set me up for repair number three.

Got to love the garbage hardware MS puts out. I had to also send in my original xbox for the DDoD failure as well. At this point I'm done with MS and their crappy hardware and crappy customer service.

Re: RETURN, REPAIR, and SHIPPING DISCUSSION (Thread 2)

Anyone having issues with submitting their RRoD's online right now?  I've tried for the last 30 minutes and have been unable.  My problem is once I get to the page to submit my request I hit the log in button, type my login which I'm using right now (I am not using a program to remember the password, I'm typing it in, so I know I have the correct password).  Then the browser page after about 15 seconds comes back with a Page Load Error, Connection Interrupted.  I also tried it with Internet Explorer 8 and got the same error. Angry [:@]   Then I borrowed my roommates laptop and got the same error on it with FireFox.

Anyways, I'll try again later tonight or tomorrow and hope it's working for me by then.  I'm really trying to avoid their support phone staff.  This is my 3rd box to RRoD on me (2.5 yrs into warrenty of original), the first time phone support wasn't too bad it only took about 40 minutes total to get it taken care of and I was able to have a lot of questions I had answered.  The second time I did phone support I got an outsourced branch and was only able to respond with yes or no answers (anything else was lost in translation I guess) as the guy read through a support tree that I had already done online.

Anyways, I'll try back later..........  trying... not... to... get... even.... more.... frustrated...Ick! [+o(]

I bought an Xbox 360 Premium with HDMI and Falcon, then it randomly got E74. So, I sent it in for repairs. Will I get back my same console or will they give me a different one?

It depends on the condition of the console, if it's fixable you will receive the same console if not you will get a refurbished one.  I recently just sent my console in for repair of E74 and received my same console.  So I think you may get the same one.

Wow. I just got my console back UNREPAIRED because an inspection of my console has revealed damage excluded from that covered by the Xbox limited warranty has occurred. Wasted 2 weeks waiting for this crap when I could have just gotten a replacement or refund from the person I bought it from.

I'm still extremely mad and disappointed by the warranty deal on the Xbox 360. My refurbished console should have it's own three year warranty after I get it back from repair. It makes literally zero sense to have the warranty of the repaired console to be linked to the original date of purchase of the broken console.

Because of this I'm done with Xbox and Microsoft. I've been a loyal customer of both Xbox consoles, and then I get screwed over. Love how they take care of the customer.

I thought the warranty issue wasn't true until so many people started talking about how they were screwed my MS.  MS seems to be tired of so many broken consoles coming in, so the best way to stop it is by giving people refurbished consoles (like me, you, and many others) and restructure the warranty -- to make us pay thereafter.  I just realized my contract ends in August after I got my refurbished console last month. If mine messes up again, I will make sure I speak to the higher-ups at MS to resolve the problem. It's customer service is not as terribel as others, but it is semi-terribe.  So for anyone that has issues, speak with the higher-ups when calling MS.  But I agree, this new 3-month warranty thing is outrageous and criminal.

And how exactly would one do that. I would love to complain to someone who can actually do something. The 90 day warranty for a refurbished console is quite possibly the biggest rip-off of all-time. Especially considering how many xbox's fail.

It's been over a month and a half since my Xbox was sent in...but I'm still puzzled.  I was told that my Xbox was coming back in two weeks...but a friend of mine said his came back in a month's time.  Why did it take a shorter time for him when it took more time for me? And by the way, we had the same hardware failure.

You need to call the main MS number in Washington State:  Direct dial: (425) 635-7180

When I saw that MS changed my serial number and was sending me a refurbished console, I called the main number and spoke with a higher-up, I think he his title was resolution manager or resolution rep.  I told him I DID NOT want a refurbished console but a new console and he said, "MS doesn't send out new consoles."

I spent nealy 30 minutes stating my case and he still would not give in to my request.  However, I did get better service from calling the main number, instead of the regular number, where you talk to a person who can not even speak English correctly (making it hard to understand what he or she is saying).  From now on, every should call the MAIN NUMBER and state their case.

I know that the first post mentions DHL, but does MS use any other shipping methods (UPS, FedEx, etc) to send repaired consoles back? I know it may seem like a stupid question, but it sort of matters for the situation I'm in.
