I have had my xbox 360 for a month and was playing Gears Of War then switched to NCAA College Hoops 2k7 and it sounded like the disc skipped and read UNPLAYABLE DISC! Put in Gears Of War, Saints Row and a DVD and all read the same (unplayable disc)! Called Xbox they siad that it was under warrenty and it will take 3-4 weeks to repair but they said the good news I DONT HAVE TO PAY FOR SHIPPING that is bull!!!!!!! I shouldnt have to wait 3-4 weeks for a $400 system. Either Microsoft needs to give out loaner Xboxes or GET MORE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess they didn't figure out the DVD drive problems. I have a 33-day old 360 elite just crapped out, exactly as described above. Playing Oblivion, disk drive makes a noise and now, nothing!! So much for being "elite"

Exactly 37 days after I purchased my 360 I now get the unreadable disc error on every game I try.  I was smart enough to buy the 2 year replacement plan at Best Buy.....  That doesn't do anything for all the saved games I'm gonna lose though!

 

Nobody probly even looks here ne mor but i have owned 3 xbox 360,s in the 1 1/2 years it's been out all 3 have died on me the same way with this stupid put disk in xbox 360 message. Microsoft can kiss my A$$ I could see one maybe 2 but 3 in  1  1/2 years cmon somethings not right here. The first one I had completely destroyed my brand nw TH game. The second one forced me buy Oblivion 3 times. Now my warranty has run out and I can't even take it back to get a new one again I have to turn my machine on 20 to 30 times just to play pretty much any disk this is ridiculous Microsoft are nuthin but money grubbing ***. I wion't be buying another 400 dollar paper weight thnx SUCK MY @%&% BILL GATES

dude your not gonna lose your saved games, i replaced mine once already at Best Buy and all you tell em is that you wanna keep the HD, so they take the Hd off the new one and pop yours on, when u get home log onto live and update it and everything works fine, the only thing that sucks is that the live arcade games and backgrounds and stuff will only dislay while your new console is connected to live, cause content is tied to the system you download it on

yup happened to me.  i dont think its EA though- ive had problems with oblivion and dead rising.  its most likely xbox 360 and microsoft

ive had my xbox for a year without any problem till now!

ok, just today i was playing Tenchu Z,which in fact i can't stop playing to save my life... but when i went to check out my car and go to auto zone, i came back put tenchu in and everything seemed ok until i got into an online game and it was all F***ed graphics, i could see other ppl but the map was all data graphics like dark purples and black everywhere. So as a normal person would i turned the system completly off, and waited a couple of minutes and turned it back on, when i uploaded the game.....EEERRRGGGRRGGGGGG.....(I know this isn't my mint condition, spoiled, 360 F***ing up just after almost 7 months of owning the damn thing!) I just got it at the end of Dec 06, never been dropped, never been nudged or shifted, its this really (pissing me off) annoying grinding sound coming from the CD tray and i know its the damn CD drive because the CD and the tray are making contact with each other which sounds like an old car trying to start in cold weather...

Actually some of these problems arn't related to EA games just a screwed Laser eye or a F***ed up CD drive like mine.....

I've got the same error (Disc is Unreadable). The sad thing is that i just bought my Xbox360 (yesterday) and started playing a completely new game (Lost Planet) and after 50 minutes of play this freakin error message popped up! I've got only 1 question: W T F ? Lol, this is hilarious! I bought a COMPLETELY NEW box and a COMPLETELY NEW game, and playing the FIRST TIME this message f***s my game up?

Mine is so bad that it will not play 1 game or dvd it really makes me mad because i jus sent in my xbox a month ago and i dont want to pay for it again!!!

Yeah man, ive already replaced one through best buy no problems with keeping the harddrive, now ive had my new system two months and nothing will load!!! Makes me so mad i havent had a system more than two months without a problem, now starting on my third xbox 360 hope this one lasts longer

I have just written to Microsoft about this...

I'm now on my third console and every single one of them has had disc reading errors on all games I have played so far. The most occurred on Oblivion and it's happened at least 3 times on Gears of War, The Darkness, Guitar Hero II and Hitman.

Because of this I don't blame the game publishers I blame Microsoft out and out. The latest thing to happen to me is a p!ss take and I'm considering writing to every press office I can think of. A multi Billion pound company like Microsoft should not get away with providing it's customers with unfit goods.

My third console was only swapped a month ago (through my extended warranty and not by Microsoft), and last night after browsing the marketplace I decided to play my latest game 'The Darkness'.

Picture this if you can - the disk is in the drive right, and I go to play, bare in mind I'm sitting over a meter away on my sofa and using a wireless controller, when all of a sudden I hear this horrific crunching noise coming from the disk drive... Immediately I soil myself and jump to eject my 2 week old game only to find Microsoft’s console had torn the sh!te outta my disc!! I mean there's rings all around the disk and its completely ruined!!! The only way this could have happened is if the lens has hit the disc while it was spinning. Why on earth would the console be built like that??

So after convincing myself I can't be the only person this has happened to I assumed Microsoft would have some disc replacement warranty. The game has obviously been wrecked because of Microsoft’s console, there is no other explanation - Disk's don't scratch themselves.

Anyways to my astonishment I find Microsoft only have a replacement policy for games they have published!! Words cannot express how f*****g cheated I feel... I now have a game I paid £39.99 that is completely ruined with now way to get my money back and a console I daren't put another game into through fear of this happening again!!!

I'm taking this all the way, if Microsoft think I'm gonna lay low on this one they gotta another thing coming. I would like very much for anyone with similar issues to post a reply on this page as I will be contacting watchdog and all manner of press if Microsoft don't fix this issue. It's about time they got hung out to dry for their poor build quality of these machines. I mean three machines in two years and one screwed game!! That aint just bad luck.

I am having to send my 360 in for repairs for  what they say is an optical error (scratched my NHL 07 up 2 disks, 1 cracked).

Games wouldn't load up and I would get the white screen saying "put this game in a 360 console."

 

Customer service guy told me to plug my 360 into the wall and not in surge protector or power bar. No luck, then he told me to TURN MY AUTO DOWNLOADS FOR LIVE ARCADE ON.

Games suddenly started working then. My horribly scratched NHL, 3 ring scratched Guitar hero 3 and my Mirrorlike Tiger 07 would start up immeditely while PGR3, TOMB RAIDER LEGEND (both mirrorlike will not). OXM discs will not start up either.

Funny thing is none of these problems occured before the update that gave us the option of autodownloading all arcade trials and free games. HMMMMMMMMMMM! why did the guy know to tell me to do that?

So even tho my hockey works(my main game) I am sending my 360 in. 1 month before the new release!!!!! I am going to have to rent a 360 for 1 week so I can play my pre-ordered hockey. Better waiting a week later than sending it in 1 month after release lol.

So try setting your 360 like this,

Auto login (your gamertag)

Set arcade downloads to Auto on

after doing this power down your 360 and try loading your game up and if it doesn't work try again.

I'm having the same problems.

Got my 360 in January 2007.   In July gave me the 3 red lights ring of death.

Took it back to the store (Currys which is a UK store like Best Buy) who after an hour of arguing swapped it for another.

Had this for 2 weeks when it came up disc unreadable on DiRT.  Disc had some mild surface scratchs which weren't there before as I'd only just bought the game.  Kept trying and would get the same error it other places.  Tried Forza and same problem so took it back.

Got it replaced on Saturday this week, try the console Sunday and within 10 minutes of  Forza I get the unreadable error and a nice scratch round the disc!  Absolute joke this is!

I'm taking it back tomorrow for my 4th console as I have BioShock coming this week.  If this one fails I'll get it replaced, sell the lot and then happily purchase a PS3.  This console really is a peice of junk!

With the NCAA 07 Football, I had it happening after the first play of every game.  There was some faint scratches, but nothing that should stop it from playing. So after not playing it for several months, and knowing I won't get any trade-in value, I decided to clean the disk with the Skip DR disk cleaner that we own.  Since then It's only happened once and I've had no other problems with the game.  Now other games,  like King Kong, after playing it for about a month, will not load at all.  The scene turns black and thats it.  Good thing it's borrowed.

i have had the 'unreadable' error on all 4 games i've owned so far.  but i just got it on NHL 08 tonight and now i cant even get my franchise to load at all...just freezes up without giving me an error message at all.  of yes, and now theres a brand new series of scratches on it.  i know the console had to have done it because i hasnt been removed from the drawer since i bought the game and i checked it for marks when i put it in.  this is an outrage!  now i know this 360 is only 2 months old but come on, isn't there some reassurance out there for spending $450 on something?  i've invested too much cash into this machine in the 2 months i've had it to sell it and upgrade to another system.  i already have a wii and i love it, never had a single glitch with any game.  but i wanna use my xbox to take advantage of my HD.  they best not give me the run around when i go to get this issue resolved or god help me, they'll have me on their hands.

All of my games get a disk is unreadable message!!! It's only a year old but it has always done this and I just thought it was normal. Ive had the console verticle and horizontal and nothing seems to work. It seems to scratch my disks because there are round and bad ones all across the disk! PLEASE HELP!!! Also I cant send it back because my warranty is up.

This is happening to me i have a circular mark around my whole guitar hero 2 disc . The wierd thing is that it plays perfectly fine but when i try to go to the store in the game it says disc unreadable and i can't get to the store i mean what is the point of having the game if i can't unlock all items.

XBOX360 should have been called $hitbox360 35 days its was doing the same crap couple times and now it can not read a single disc !! JUNK !!! i knew i should have gone for PS3 Hey numnutz get a SONY drive they WORK .Get rit of your cheap after markets 15$ dvd rom drives. My PS2 is still Kicking !! The cd's click in instead of a cheap throw in rom, I dont even undestand how you guys use them standing up , i would not even change it . all JUNK !!!

It does it to me quite often.  Some games are worse than others but not every game does it.  Mass Effect does it about every 5 minutes but games like COD4 and Assassin's Creed didn't do it at all.  It's quite annoying.

I could care less if it is happening to people, I wanna know what steps you guys are taking to fix the problem
