Not sure what to make of this.  He could be a beta tester or just damn lucky.  Either way here is a link to someone who apparently has the game already.  5 days early.  As soon as Best Buy opens up, I'm calling them to see.

I'm headed to WalMart today so I'll look for it then. DOAX wasn't a huge seller here - no midnight mass or anything. As a matter of fact, we didn't even get it here until about 6 months or more after it came out, and they were put in a stack at the bottom of the shelf way in the back - which is exactly where I like to dig for stuff because you can find the good stuff back there LOL

My guess is they just hid it there hoping no one would ask about it.

EB and GS both say they wont get their copies until tuesday/wednesday.papertiger is most likely a beta tester or someone with connections,either way i think its bogus that some people get the full game 3 or 4 days before anyone else.

next 2 things EA will charge us for.
1.pay 100mp before being allowed to start game.
2. Advance a level?pay 200mp.

For those in Northern Illinois.  Best Buy, Circuit City, EBGames, Wal-Mart, etc....do not have this game.  Most stores had no idea what I was even talking about.  I doubt Wal-Mart will even get it.  The Super Wal-Mart here never had the first DOAXBV so I doubt they will get this one.

Guess I'll just have to wait until Wednesday, or is Tuesday?  Perhaps Monday?  Or possibly the 20th!  Only time will tell.

its impossible for any person to get the game early because your local eb games/gamestop doesnt have it? it is possible. i got saint's row about 3 days before its release, and im not a beta tester or anything.

besides, beta testers usually show up way before release, not 3 or 4 days before the game releases.

I am in Chicago and picked up the game today at Best Buy.  They had about five copies of it on the shelf.  They also had Viva Piniata.  I just finished my first vacation (played as Helena).  As someone used to DOAX1, right now I find the controlls in volleyball frustrating with the changes they made.

You have it?!?!?!  Whereabouts in Chicago are you?  In the city or burbs?  Damn...I knew I should have driven farther east.

Regarding the game;  Volleyball controls are frustrating?  How so?  Does it require more accuracy?  What about the graphics?  Hows the hair look?  Too many questions.....

If you could share your experience (just put a spoiler alert), I'm sure we would all appreciate it.

I am in the city.  See the other post I just made about the controls.  The graphics look good, and I haven't seen any examples yet of the terrible hair from the various teaster trailers.  But I haven't really seen many grauve sequences yet, either...  They have reused a lot of the swimsuits names from DOAX1, except that they are totally different suits now (in some cases, updated versions, but in others, nothing remotely like the DOAX1 version).

Helena got a silver volleyball from Zack during the first vacation, but I did not get a swimsuit from Zack in the first vacation.  I was able to give a couple suits away to Lisa (she again is your starting partner) and Kasumi (since it happened the shop had a lot of pink stuff my first vacation).  I did not receive any swimsuits as gifts, though.

The contents of all the shops now change every timeslot, not once a day like it did in DOAX1.  This makes gifting perishables from the hotel room more difficult, as you can't wait until evening to purchase something you see in the morning.  There are some shop items and trends from the original, but there is also a lot of new stuff as well.  So it's gonna be a while before we get a new list of what everyone's love/like/neutral/dislike/hated lists are.  Oh, Zack's is available from the get-go now -- no more waiting for day 4.

A 1st place victory in the wave race is 70k plus up to another 20k if you have a "perfect" run (never go outside the bouies).  I have not been able to get any bonus money yet for tricks, not sure what the criteria is for that.  When you have no partner, the wave race will be the way to make money in this game (as opposed to pool hopping in DOAX1).

Thanks for the info.  I'll be heading out first thing in the morning.  I'll try the western burbs again but I just might venture into the big dark scary city of Chi-town.

Oh, and one other observation.  While they got rid of the trashcans, you will still end up wasting the money on items/suits that are refused.  When you give them something they don't like (I guessed wrong on a Zack shop item for Kasumi, turned out to be a dislike item I'm guessing from her response phrase), they give it back you -- unwrapped.  Since there is no way to re-wrap an item, you will basically be throwing it away yourself as it will likely be a redundant item on the gifter (e.g., first time fail an item you might not have it, but all subsequent failures it will now be redundant for the gifter and you'll trash it yourself).

They will also still return items unopened via the hotel under similar rules to DOAX1, but those are ??? presents now so you don't know if its really a returned item or they gave you something else.  And thus, those returned presents are risky to give away.

Ok, this is incorrect.  In Zack's Shop, if you hit right on the left stick you get a selection of gift wrap papers and it allows you to re-wrap gifts.  Also, the other shops have multiple 'tabs' as well; this is why I didn't see the upgraded waveracers before, for example.

Just curious...how's the manual?  Does it give any information or just the basics.  Manuals tend to be less and less helpful and since you 'discovered' the options, I was wondering how helpful the manual was.

Good to know about the wrapping of items. 

I'm tempted to make the hour trek into the city right now!!!

Might be a good idea to post when you find a copy.  I've found that calling the stores is futile.  Either they don't have a clue what you are talking about or don't have the time / desire to check.

So far we know it's available in CA and somewhere in Chicago.

The manual is about the same as the first one, information wise.  It gives basics, but is missing out on stuff.  Like it doesn't tell you how to feint the ball past a block, for example (hit the receive button instead of the attack button).

And now that I've tried giving an expensive suit and failed, re-wrapping seems to cost half the cost of the original suit.  So failures are still going to be a big money and time sink...

I have a question I hope you can answer... do you know if the game is native 1080p or not?  Around TGS people said that MS announced that DOAX2, Blue Dragon and some other titles would "support 1080p."  The thing that made people think it was native was that every game "supports" 1080p on the 360 now.  Anyways, if you could shed some light on it I'd appreciate it :D  Thanks!

I've got a question for you CAW CAW,

Since you know about the first game, is there an AGE option in the settings menu? In other words... the option to reduce the "bounce"? If so, could you test if it does indeed reduce the "bounce"? :) Thanks~

There is an age option, defaults to 17.  I haven't tested to see what affect it has on the bounce, though.

Thanks for the info! :) Should you try it out for bit at age 1 and notice a reduction, please let me know. The bounce is a bit of an annoyance for me after the new "adjustments"; if the age does nothing... I'll get over it ^_-

There are other jeyskis available for purchase that have different stats as a way to 'upgrade' your jeyski.

The game has options for English and Japanesse voices.  (It also lists all the voice actors for both in the credits.)  The English voice acting is, well, absolutely hideous...
