ok,, u gotta let us know how old are you,, how much u would like to spend, and what u plan on doing eg street or vert??
my advice is if your street skating and want to learn like kickflips etc,, get a smaller sized deck,, personally i find it alot easier to do tricks on them, u have more freedom etc,,you should go to a skateshop and have a look at all the decks,, dont let graphics determin ur purchase, as they mean nothing, and if ur gonna practise slides etc, they get smudged after a few sessions anyways,,, so try to get something light, element makes light decks,,so check them out,, also get some decent trucks,, i wouldnt really bother gettin brand wheels or bearings as u are just starting out, get no name brands,, it wont make much difference cause ur not goin to go fast anyways,,,
so thats my advice,, hope it helps you mate and good luck.
you just have to ask people who skate, ask school mates or just go to skateparks and see whats up,,,and personal preference as well,,,
edit,,, also as stated above,, skate shoes are very important,,, as if ur wearing normal shoes they will rip after doing a few kickflips etc,,,, get shoes which are tight fitting,, with lots of padding around the olle area and kickflip area,,, as stated above, osiris, es, emerica all make good shoes,,,
and also practise on some flat surface,, first try to just get comfortable on the deck moving around at a decent speed,, tick tac around and stuff,,, before u practise any flip tricks etc,,
