I know this was asked by Warrior... before. Short version: Install first disc and don't install second disc.
I think this was also mentioned by Bungie on their August 14 weekly update on bungie.net
Does anyone know what Bungie's long and detailed explanation is? Even though I probably won't understand it that much, I would like to read their own words in this matter. Please and thank you.

Halo 3 copies the map from the Disc to the HDD so it can be accessed faster in later games. It takes longer if the HDD is being read from and written to at the same time.

Your Forge is saved as a Save Game File, just like a saved video clip.

the Forge / Video saved file is used in conjunction with the map file - so you don't need to worry about it - so long as safeguard your saved Forge file

If you beat the campaign with friends (co-op), will you still get the achievement for beating the game as if you were playing solo? Thanks in advance.

Yes - But bear this in mind:

The achievement is for playing through the whole game on a set level

What that means is, if you play solo on Heroic and get half-way, then play co-op on Legendary for the other half - you get the Heroic and Normal Achievements, but not Legendary

Re: Halo 3: ODST FAQ
Sorry, Real Halo Rookie here!

I've played Halo 3 : ODST through on Easy (I know, I'm a wooss) but now I want to play it through on Normal. The only option I have on the main screen is to Resume Solo Game which sends me back through the last level. (I let the credits roll through to the very end!!)

How do i start a new game at Normal level please, It's really bugging me now!!!

Re: Halo 3: ODST FAQ
Select Campaign, goto the first level, and you'll find an option for Easy. Just change it to whatever level you want.

Here - You would also enable or disable Skulls that change the way the game is played

Re: Halo 3: ODST FAQ
I have played almost every level of the campaign in Legendary co-op, but on other people's saves (they started the game) and some of it not in order. We played through the first two levels and most of the third, and we quit for the night, and then the next night I joined in a different Legendary Campaign co-op game where they were a level and a half beyond what I had played in campaign before, and we played through two levels. I did get the achievements for the two levels I fully played through with them. The half a level I played with them I did not get the achievement for, but I now have access to that level in my menu.

Last night I had a friend go back with me to one of the levels I missed, and complete it with me on Legendary co-op, and I did get that level's achievement for completing it.

So the question is this: if I now complete all the levels in Legendary co-op, will I get the achievements for completing the campaign? Or do those achievements only unlock if I have played through the game in order?

[and I am not sure this is relevant to answering the question, but I do not have a campaign save file on my machine, yet I do have access to all the levels I have completed with my friends]

I ask this question because I think I'd rather start over a new campaign now than play all the levels I have remaining and then have to go do it again.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I have to just complete the Highway level to finish each of them. At this point, I will "find out the hard way" whether I get the achievements for the campaign or not.

I will post what happens when I do finish the Highway level.

Well I thought you could check to see if you were mistaken that you might've missed an area, then you could go back and do the area you missed in your previous gameplay.

But oh well that's what I get for trying to help

Glad I was of no help and wasted a minute of my life on a thankless twit

Agent, no need to overreact. He did thank you but mentioned he was looking for other advice. Don't let something small get you upset! Smile [:)]

Anyways, I wonder if they ever plan to add more firefight maps, could be cool to see some of the Halo 3 multiplayer levels show up as Firefight maps.

Exactly. If you read my post and all the details I listed, you'd see my question could not be answered with the information you suggested. There was no need to post like that or call me any names. I did thank you for trying to help, but your suggestion in no way answered the question.

I didn't get a chance to play last night, my friends were all offline by the time I got onto LIVE. Sometime this weekend I expect to find some friends online to complete the Highway level and then I will post afterwards what the result was, so in case other people have the same question, they will be able to find the answer.

Thanks, Deadly Cyclone - hit me up if you want to play some Firefight, or campaign if you need a partner to play through it again with.

I have, and I have been wondering around the city for hours and Dare has never called me. I think I might have seen somewhere if you do a mission out of order while going through a campaign, then does it mess everything up? I did one mission in the campaign, then it "skipped" one, went to the next mission. Then, it later went back and did the mission I "skipped".

I never got the call, but I still figured it out. I had to go back to the recon helmet clue, and do the Tayari Plaza mission again. As soon as I was done with that, there was a beacon on the map that said "underground access" which is what you are supposed to go to. It wasn't there before. I never got the Super Sleuth clue achievement, because the game glitched up or whatever, but I'm going to go back and do the campaign on Easy again anyway, so I'll just end up getting it then.

Re: Halo 3: ODST FAQ

I couldn't get a Legendary Co-Op game going this weekend, so I played Coastal highway on Solo on Normal Difficulty and got the achievement for the Normal Campaign.

So if you do play it out of order, you will get the achievement.

And I got the Super Sleuth achievement, because we found that last clue when I was playing with my friends, but I don't have the achievement for the 3rd clue. When I play through the campaign on Easy solo, I will probably get it, I am thinking.

If you go to Bungie.net you could've seen that you missed an area as I checked your profile at the time you posted, but I didn't wanna say stupid you missed one of the areas. So I just said if you check your profile at Bungie.net.

If you had checked as of the time I posted you didn't complete one of areas in the campaign as noted by your profile, but I didn't wanna peer as a nosey know it all so I just said check your profile and maybe in between the time you checked my post and the time you checked your profile you had done it so it would appear as what I offered was of no help.

When I read your post and put your profile at Bungie.net and compared it to my completed game you had one less area done than mine, I forgot the name of the mission now, since it was awhile ago.

But if you checked you would've seen what you missed.

Oh well ..............its all water under the bridge at this point

good luck with ODST
