Ok look MS is making you pay $5 for a game that they did nothing to so mainly your paying for them to get off there lazy butts just to write in a code to say ehh this is going onto the marketplace. (I know it's harder then that) You shouldn't pay for a game where they sent a little team to update the graphics and make a new soundtrack. I'm pretty sure for a game this old that would not take that long. We need to tell MS that we are not statified with this piece of crap. Now if they added new features like for one I had a idea that well for a cool multiplayer thing you could replace the 3 enemy AI with actual humans over XBL or you could make a new mode where you are one of the enemies and you try to destroy the other car before he captures the other flags. Simple ideas that if they weren't that lazy they could probably do in a few days. I think they need to stop with the idea that if we just update the graphics everyone will come back and pay us, well if you did buy this game I can't help it that your either stupid or an Achievement ***. Oh and this isn't the only game like this there is also the case of Galaga which had Co-op in the original, but MS is making you pay $5 for a version that is actually worse and features have been removed then the original. Save your money or games that are worth it. Let's stop this crap from happening before we have loads of games like these all over the Market Place.

I too am an old school gamer with love for were the roots of this MEGA industry began .. games like DIG DUG , GALAGA , PACMAN are classic .. i like to visit my childhood years as i play these kinds of games i still find them very entertaining.

 

As for the people who say that we play these games to get the gamerscore boost .. is a bunch of sillyness .. the achievements system is a way to make people want to keep playing a game that they would normally stop playing after beating it since most achievements require alot of replaying .. I personally like the lil pictures that are unlocked more then the gamerscore .. Strictly opinion , Not fact.

Before today I would've agreed with you. But in playing to get the 100,000 and stage 7 achievements I've really warmed up to New Rally-X. I think it's actually kind of fun now... It's not something I'll play every day, but I can see playing a quick game here and there.

I agree. As soon as I saw this game was available, I had to get it. I had played the original Rally-X a lot when I was younger. I only played New Rally-X a couple times back then.

It's a fun game. Simple, but it's nice because the flag positions keep changing.

I'm 37, and I remember this game in the arcade, but it was never a big hit as far as I can remember.  Galaga, Pac Man, Asteroids, Centipede, Defender, Space Invaders, Joust, Robotron, Missile Command, Pole Position, Tempest, Battlezone, Frogger, Dig Dug, Donkey Kong, Sinistar, etc. were all big hits in the early 80's.  This game was not.  I'm sure it has a few fans, but I'm honestly bewildered why they would bring this back as opposed to one of the other very popular games in the list I mentioned. A game like this should have 2 modes like Geometry Wars (which isn't even an old game): the classic old-school version and a version with updated graphics at least.  The other thing it is missing that takes away from the original experience is that the controller used to be a big free-spinning steering wheel if I remember correctly.

    Just to say I'm 18 ok yes I was hot headed that day and it was a bad day to begin with so yes I shouldn't have said stupid, but I do know that there are some people that are out there that only buy games to get the points and you know to me if they want to waist there money on that then ok go ahead. I love old classic games yes I was only born into the Nintendo era with Super Mario Bros. being the first game I've played, but that still is old enough some people today don't have any idea what an original Nintendo is or how game were not all about graphics, but gameplay back in the day. I just see it as if your going to bring a classic game back spice it up a bit we've played the same game over and over again. I for one want something new in my games. For one I'm never buying a single Fighting game ever again because they still haven't really changed much in those games, but then again you could say that with about every kind of game though in those types of games then others it just feels like the same thing again and again. For at least is other genre's they have variety yeah your doing the samething, but there is something different about it that makes you want to continue to play it and play it again and again.
    I mainly say why pay money for a game that is just like it was 20 years ago. If you buy this game then go ahead, but I don't think people should buy it for if we keep on showing MS that we don't mind then they will keep doing this to us reviving old classics with nothing new, but a few updated graphics, maybe tweaked around with the soundtrack, and gave it achievements. I also will say I do respect games like these, but like I said if your paying $5 for a game that is just like the original then why waist the money for the new game and just play the original for free somewhere else.

    Since I'm 18 and I just got a job recently plus that fact that I my parents don't believe in allowences. I don't have money to get everything I would like or could have. So I always try to find ways around stuff to still get the same experiance and this is one. You are paying money maybe it might not be nothing to you, but to kids like me who don't have money to blow and want to play this game. I'm saying why waist money paying for something that has nothing new if you want to play this game then go to the original link I posted and play it there. It's the samething. I do have a Premium 360 and yes your right I don't buy Collector's Edition of games since I don't care for the videos and items that you get with the game if I want a game that's all what I care for the game. I don't need all this extra stuff to keep me happy just the game. You know some people like that stuff you know ok whatever you get what you want, but for me well I just don't plain care and anyway more than likely after about a month all the videos on the game discs will be all over Youtube and other sites like that so to me there is no point to paying for it now. Ohh and yes if you must ask I do buy used games only. Samething in my eyes whether you just got it from EB Games right out of the box, or waited a month or 2 two and bought it on Ebay for $20-$30 cheaper. Oh and I do hopefully one day be able to buy my own Nintendo Wii as well, but just like that I'm not going to pay money on there Virtual Arcade thing for games like the old Donkey Kong.

Namco seems to have a real soft spot for Rally-X/New Rally-X... It was re-released in the arcade along with Dig Dug and Pac-Man in the Namco Classics Collection Volume 2 cabinet. (As well as in many of the of the console/portable collection titles.) I'm sure we'll see all of Namco's old games hit XBLA - it probably just happened that this one was done certification this week or something.

So what?  So they released a not so well known classic arcade game.  If you don't like it, don't buy it!  Maybe Microsoft wanted to see what would happen if they put a game like this out there.  I think its great that they push the envelope so to speak.

At least you can get 200 achievement points for it?  Unlike another game that I know of where you spend $50 and can't get all the achievements because of bugs/glitches in the game LOL.

New rally-X is not the end of the world. :P

Sure,it's not a well known classic,but Namco seem to have a soft spot for the game and I'm all for it if they end up giving us Tekken 6,Ace combat 6. ;)   (perfect match after giving us ridge racer 6)

Anyway,if you hate the game,you will soon forget it since we will see the release of numerous quality arcade game this year.

Personally, I think Namco is just pumping out the crud now.

We have Pac-Man, now we have Ms. Pac-Man? It's fundimentally the same game. Except for two WHOLE new features. You can warp to the other side of the room, and fruit that MOVES. Wow, I am impressed.

And just look at New Rally-X's XBL Arcade page. The developers couldn't think of what to say about the game because it's so dysmal. This game was never a "classic", in fact it sucked. This game has no personality :(

i am 100% sure that theyre just releasing games for money. a lot of people only buy these old games for the achievements
