My XBOX Live Vision camera works during games like UNO with no problems but when I host a Video Chat my camera always shuts down and says that my network connection is too slow to run video chat.

 

I've narrowed this down to being a wireless problem.  I've tried two different routers: 1) Microsoft MN-700 (fully supported by XBOX) and 2) US Robotics 5461 (not supported but MAXg with much stronger range).

 

Neither router helps this issue. Both are set to Wireless G networks.  If I plug the xbox directly into the Router I have no issues.  So I've basically determined this is not a Router issue.

 

My internet connection is the fastest comcast offers: 8000 kb/sec download and 700k upload. MORE than enough speed for a web cam.

 

I think the problem is my wireless adapter.  I'm using the original XBOX 1 wireless adapter.  Does anyone else use this adapter with XBOX Live Vision and have the same issue?  For the $100 I paid back in the day for this adapter you would think this is a quality fast adapter... but somehow I think that it's not.

 

I also experience some undo lag in games using this wireless adapter.  I'm going to try a different solution and I'll post with my findings..however I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem.

I also have the same problem and also have comcast w/4mb download 400kb upload I am hardwired in I tried everything I have a netgear modem gateway after a few min. on video chat it tells me my connection is to slow and I know otherwise also have no clue not happy If anyone can help i would appreciate ,ThankYou

well make sure your xbl ports are opened...do this test. 

 

Have someone invite you without your camera in.   See if it still boots you.  If it does it's your "down" that is doing it, if it only does it while you have your camera on...it's your "up"

Yea, I've got the upgraded speed - 8Mb Down, 728k up.

I actually hard wired my xbox to my router and I did NOT lose the video conference so I'm positive it's not a port issue.

The problem is that the wireless must be too slow.  This is either my hardware or Microsofts coding of how they do packet transfer (too much?).  Either way I'm trying to figure out a way to have wireless AND solve this issue at the same time.

My current thought is to ditch my old xbox 1 wireless adapter and get a BRIDGE for my network that uses MaxG compression (US Robotics) and then plug my 360 directly into the bridge... If I do this, I'll let you guys know the results.

So far the only thing that resolves this is hard-wiring my network connection.  I've opened up ports, blah blah.  The wireless just isn't cutting it.

First off, this is not the fastest internet connection Comcast offers! That being said, your connection is plenty fast to be able to host games, and especially hold video chats. Your problem does lie with the wireless connection. I did use the adapter you have for about a week "back in the day", and it was awful for my application. Wired proved to be MUCH faster, and more reliable. If it is possible, stick with a wired connection, both for you and for all of us that may play with you online.

    im getting this error message too. the only thing is that sometimes it works and most times it doesnt. it always works when i play spades, not a problem. the thing is when i try to private video chat i will get this too slow message. 9 times out of 10 it'll happen and when it does work it'll work for a minute then i'll get booted. I am all wireless with a lyksys wirless g speedbooster router. i have comcast broadband as well.  Now heres the catch....my buddy is setup exactly like me, same router same connection but his works perfectly! what the deal here? i called xbox support today and they couldnt give me a straight answer, she told me to return it. 

Yeah I have the same problem.  I have a linksys router and an original xbox adaptor.  The adaptor is wireless and I can not video chat because when I go into it I move really slow on everyone elses screen and after a few minutes it says network connection is too slow.  My brother has the exact same setup and it works for him.  Does anyone know what is going on.

I'm hard-wired with the router and still get this issue.  Video-chat worked for a while and I started getting the "Too Slow Error" message.  I can personal chat (voice) with no video OR video chat without voice from my side (I can hear and see them; they can only see me - no voice).  I went through the trouble-shooting with Microsoft and they had no answers (we did discover and replace my original router for a "Xbox compatible" router but that made no difference).  I just got off the phone with Verizon (I have DSL) and my bandwidth is good.  At a loss.... searching for an answer.

i just saw these posts and realised that i wasnt the only person whos got this really annoying problem,. This thing is really p*issing me off because i can play games online and like others have sed i can play things like uno and stuff. someone outthere MUST know the answer because this thing is really annoying, ive got bt broadband 8mb and at the moment in my area it doed 4.6mb a sec which is still fast enough because the guy i video chat with when i found out , he had 1mb and his worked fine. ITS REALLY ANNOYING!!! ive rang up bt and ive rang up xbox, xbox just told me that other people also had this problem. I think my self it has something to do with xbox live and there might be an error with the vision cam data transfer etc. My connection is connected directly through ethernet so it cant be that. #SOMEBODY FIX IT!!!! lol

I have the same problem. I think a patch is what it needs.

Btw, I switched routers... I now use a USR5461...same thing as my MICROSOFT one...

I have this problem now, I called my ISP everything is fine. It started happening about a week ago and has not been resolved. Really REALLY not happy about this as i use it to speak to my family abroad. Is there any answer?????

Wow, I'm glad that I'm not the only one with this problem.  I wish they would support this accessory a little bit more.  I don't see why everything has to come out in large updates.  I know there are some small updates released, but this is not what I'm paying for.  I guess the sales on the vision camera were not good enough to warrant support.

Mine started doing this a couple of weeks ago.  Why aren't any of the tech's answering these posts?  Do we have to call Micro$oft for every little thing that goes on with the xbox?  What are these forums for.  Don't they moderate these?    HELP!!!! 

Try port fowarding your xbox ip on your router. It worked for me. Have no problems anymore.

How do you port forward on your router?
