i think they wouldn't want to lower the price for two of most successful games in india
meh!
After the December Calendar blowing up, this is just yet another thread...
AquarianIceman wrote:. For the platinum pricing...import duties are not refundable by the Gov't of India, so the price will drop only when new qty's come in after existing qty's are sold thru.
I am sorry, if i caused some disrespect but my point was not about the prices. I have compared the prices with other countries and i found that games are cheaper in India. Price's of games going down is really good as it will help boost the sales.
My point was that the games mentioned in the above list , not many of them are available everywhere. They just reach the metro's but what about other cities? From the December Calendar, only NFS: Carbon was spotted by me, infact the chief distributor (of the city) who is responsible for the xbox360 games even said that COD3 is not available in the entire state.
Maybe you guys should follow up and see that games reach each and every state and atleast make their way through major cities in that state. Infact selling through ebay is a good option too but the eshop is not quite updated well. The last game that i bought was Gears of War which was in Mid November, since then i am still waiting for new games to come...
That was my whole point

Multiple things to answer:
1. COD 3 is a 3PP title and distributed in India by WWCDROM a Mumbai based importer of game content. We have been working very closely with that company to expand its reach and distribution, but a company which was a single city operation cannot scale to a national level distributor in a short time. Pls understand that gaing s/w was being brought in generally by these small niche segment players up until the Xbox 360 launch and post that only are oganised and large scale distributors now looking at this very seriously. Redington is a case in point who we appointed as our India distributor and we continue to reccomend them to other 3PP publishers. Though both organizations need to go thru contractual negotiations which take time and that is reality. As a consequence these smaller companies do not have ideal reach but nonetheless are stepping stones to getting the eco-system right slowly but surely. Hope that clarifies the sitution and you did not cause any dis-respect, pls keep the feedback coming as I always say. Its all good. The list that I have put out is available readly and if u want any of those titles PM me your coordinates and will get a retailer near your location to connect with you and get you the content you are looking for
I was wondering that games mentioned above, will Redington be distributing them or it also includes titles from WWC ?
Also wat about accessories ? Introducing some popular face plates would be nice. Any chances if HD-DVD addon will be hitting India in 2007 ? or no chances at all :/
Another thing that i would like to suggest Microsoft India is to sell some kind of extra warranty for the 360, that way atleast all of us have complete peace of mind.
Please update the online store on E-bay with the new titles. I would like to order COD3.
Also please try and make collector's editions available here.
Microsoft India's marketing needs to come out with some good ideas. They need to be creative, also game advertisements should be shown like GoW's ad was awesome in my opinion. The first advertisement was totally off-track and i think was just done for fun and didnt aim at anything. People need to be explained about the concept of consoles and how its better than a PC. The games should be advertised. One place where Microsoft has an advantage over th ePS2 is the advertisement segment because Sony doesnt advertise PS2.
I am sure stuff can improve a whole lot better when Xbox Live launches over here and someday Microsoft India can tie with several bollywood distributors and with other channels to sell Tv Episodes on Xbox Live. I think there is a great market but it needs to be exploited and this can only begin when the prices of the console goes down.
If you have noticed, microsoft have announced xbox360 as a IPTV box at CES. They provided a list of companies that expressed intrest in it. And one of the companies that was listed is Reliance infocomm. You can bet that once they launch IPTV here they will take care of advertising and stuff. Anyway i don't think Mr. Mohit was expecting that Xbox 360 will be a smash hit and everyone will own one. It is the precussor to something big like the original Xbox to the Xbox360. . Anyway we shouldn't be too worried about getting stranded, microsoft will always ship their games here and frankly the next few games i am looking forward to are from MGS (Halo 3, Mass Effect, Forza 2, Too Human, Fable 2)
BTW Mr.Mohit , can't we have old games like Halo2 , Jade empire, Ninja gaiden, etc here in India, it will seriously help end the game drought in the short run
That screenshot where Reliance Infocomm banner was shown in the Keynote of Bill Gates at CES was provided by me ;) just so you know, its a different story that i had posted it in the other forums. Besides i dont see IPTV entering India anythime before 2H of 2008 because IPTV itself will be coming around the holiday time of 2007. Before we even enter IPTV there is a long way for us to go. IPTV will only work on Fiber Optics, so its just better to forget about IPTV as of now.
