Well I think we can all agree here, that the roll-out and failure has been a big disappointment, however speaking from both a full TV sky subscriber and someone who has got sky player working on the xbox, and a gaming website owner to, I can say its flawless in its delivery and choice, and just runs superbly, something I may add I thought initially they couldn't pull off, but they have proved me wrong.
However, and its a big however, the pricing system is completely not right, and will be the sole reason its doomed to failure, but I actually think there is absolutely nothing they can do about it at either, and the reason why that is, because they simply can not offer a cheaper price plan than its current TV subscribers.
So really my final conclusion in this experiment is one of slight disappointment, not in how its being delivered far from it, is just that I actually think the whole experience is just not a viable one for a console, irrespective of what format its on, simple terms, someone who is already paying around £30 a year for gold, and then expect to pay close to £50 per month, is either very well off, or has money to burn.
I also think at these prices, it surely is a lot simpler to now get sky TV the proper way, especially now as sky are promoting a free HD box now.
Shame could have worked great, but sky by its own definition of being expensive, is just to mush out of reach for...gamers.
There is actually quite a large marketshare of people who can't get sky for various reasons (people who live in flats, rented accomodation, halls etc) and catching those could be quite lucrative for Sky.
There is also a market for potential sky customers who are unsure about signing up for 12 months; the chance to test for a month or two via the xbox without the need to enter a contract, or have an engineer out.
Thirdly, there is a market of people who want sky, but still don't like the idea of an ugly dish on the side of their house.
So in all respects, and with the chance to push video on demand, there is actually a large hole in the market for Sky to fill.
As for cost - there is no logical reason why Sky Sports 1,2,3 should be cheaper just because it's delivered through your xbox.
Granted, the entertainment selection is poor; but new channels will be added.
