GamerDads 2.0 (aka Gamerparents 2.0)

We've moved because of the size of the old thread.  For the regulars, and for new members (welcome all parents who are buying 360's for Halo and the upcoming holiday season) here is what we are about:

Gaming and parenting.

That's it.

No flaming.

No hate.

Just games and parenting.

We game together as much as possible, and also discuss games, tips, etc.  We've also discussed everything from how to handle a rebelious teen, to what boundaries should be set for kids and games, to "I can't play game x anymore, because my kids are killing me at it!"

Again, welcome to you all, and I look forward to gaming with you soon.

Morning Parents...ethan, Blu... I can understand for the most part and is nice to know it was due to size not content.

Was I one of the only ones not going to be getting H3 when it comes out?  Or is there possibly others amungst us..?!?!?!!?

So 3 pretty much 4 weeks into school and my son is doing awesome.  He's been on point and having him on his meds right now seems to have really made a diff. I hate to say that but it is true. Hopefully though w/ work we can move away from that but in due time to tell.

How's Everyone elses little ones/not so little ones doing this yr so far???

Also for those playing Viva Pinata is there any tips you might be able to throw my way....Big Smile [:D] I'm not doing to bad so far but every little bit helps...thanks

Speaking of the Icon, MO you still limited to 2 Beer [B] Beer [B] ?!?!?!?

Maybe we can. I mean our thread got the attention on the mods. So maybe we can get one. I started another one but there are more responses on this one so we'll stick with this thread. There you go Ethan stealing all the glory lol j/k.

Also congrats to TW1N MOONS on the upcoming baby. His wife is supposed to deliver next wed. No halo 3 for you buddy. Don't try to name your kid cortana if its a girl like this guy on the Halo 3 forums was going to do until he got some sense talked into him lol. Also if you get madden you have to get ncaa 08 brings more depth to the game if you import the college players. I'm a football fanatic as I have Madden, NCAA, and APF2k8

Also I will probably be the first gamer parent to finish the Halo 3 campaign. Myself and 3 other friends are going to begin playing at 12:45 and play until we beat it. Monsters and red bull will be massively consumed Big Smile [:D]

Got my case of monster last night (29.88 plus tax @ Sam's) and I picked up one of those Halo 3 edition controllers. Did anyone else pick one up? Is it me or does the thumbsticks seem to move a lot smoother than the original controllers?

Big Smile [:D]I did something crazy last night. My wife and I were watching tv laying on the bed and I got this idea to see how strong my son's kicks were. So I got a potato chip and placed it on her belly. After 3 minutes there was a monstrous kick which made the chip fly off the belly. I was like WOW he is strong and my wife then said ummm chip and attacked the chip lol.Big Smile [:D]

I'm glad to see we are able to re-establish ourselves with a new thread.  Here's to 200 more pages!

With my kids being so close in age (11 months apart), my daughter seems to be learning so much from her older brother.  She's been in Preschool for 3-4 weeks and the teacher has already told us that were it not for the valuable social skills she will learn my daughter should be in Pre-K with my son.  Which means we must be doing something right!

What did kiki mean be saving the thread before she moves it?  Won't it still show up under 'my forums', just as a locked thread?  Or is it disappearing altogether?  I'm not sure how to save it.

Hey all!  I've been reading the past topics and wanted to jump in here too.

I've the father of a 14 month old boy, and a gamer.  Everything from NES to PC, but I just got a 360 last weekend.  I don't know why I've waited so long (other than having a 14 month old).

I just wanted to pop in and say Hey!

I used to lurk around Gamerdads thread for a while and just now stumbled on you folks.  I have 4 kids (3 stepchildren) ages 22, 20, 14, 5.  Only the 14 and 5 year old are at home with us now.  The other two are off on their own (whew!).  My 5 year old is addicted to Viva Pinata and is quite good at it!  I'm considering giving her online access so we can trade pinatas.  Has anyone here done this yet for their kids?  If so, is it worth it...how good are the parental controls?  Thanks!  I'll keep lurking!!

I have a full Silver account for my 9 yo son.  He has a strictly controlled friends list and does video chats with friends from school.  The parental controls can be set really tight if you let them.  Example, one of my friends was trying to send him a Pinata.  It would not let him receive it until I added my friend to his list and went in to settings to allow him to receive items from friends.

This is a good time to do it.  When I started poking around in the original thread it was around page 70.  It was a little intimidating trying to join in a conversation when there's a lot of people who already know each other.  Page 1 is a fresh start for all of us.

Welcome, me hardy!

Glad to have you guys in here.  Make sure to quote the above Halo3 registration list if you want to play every so often with us.  Davc4 is pouting right now, but when he gets back on, we have a dedicated Gamerparents site where we schedule game nights.

I agree.  But from reading the past posts it seems like there is a good group of people posting in this thread.  Now, if only I can get the wife to understand that she needs to play Viva Pinata on her own profile instead of my offline profile I'll be great!

Didn't say there was...But if she wants to gain some points she needs to use her profile.  I'm hung up on Airborn right now, but may give Viva a shot this weekend.  I have to cram gaming time between sleeping wife/child and sleep.  If I had any type of ambition outside work I'd wake up early in the AM to play.  But waking up the house wouldn't be too smart of a plan on my part.  Not to mention that the TV/360 is in the bedroom with us and our Son as we're currently living with friends.  I hate being in transition until a move.

I know how you feel I have about 15 to 20 family members coming down in Late Dec-early Jan for the birth of my 1st (A boy). So hopefully they leave me alone so I can play when they are all over my son. I just hope they aren't trying to hog my son so much that I can't even spend time with him. If that happens I am going to have to kick some people out lol. For the record I only invited 4 family members on both sides combined my wife invited the others she is too nice.
