  • @ Don I would agree with MA71LDA - a strong 8 in my opinion so far.

  • Level: 5
  • i think i prefer the default suit, i find myself going back to it anyway... the unlockable suits look nice and all, but the default suit is the only one that gets ripped and torn as you take damage, which i think is pretty awesome

  • Level: 6
  • With some positive comments in this thread I'm more tempted to buy it, but I'm going to try and keep strong and wait for it to drop in price lol.

  • Does anyone who is beyond the 500 comic pages keep noticing pages popping up in places you know for a fact you scouted with a fine tooth comb? I do....no wonder it took a while to find the first 500 if they then 'top up' on collectables once they show on the map!!!!

  • Level: 5
  • I have all the comics now, and I'm not sure, but i think you might be right, i got the feeling they were spawning randomly as i was collecting more, as they would appear in areas i was certain i had already searched, and some in really obvious places that i would have been stupid to of missed (but maybe i am D:) anyway, if that is the case, that and the yellow blips after 500 is an awesome way to do collectibles, especially when there is so many, it makes them so much easier to find, with 700 comics in the one city they would have started getting really hard to find.

Do the different suits give different abilities? It's weird they went with Kaine's Scarlet Spider outfit as an alternate because it is the same costume as the Big Time one.

    -

Az, how are you coping with the costumes in the game? I know you mentioned before that not having the "classic" look would greatly affect your enjoyment of the game

As I mentioned earlier on you are given the ability to change into Spider-Man's actual costume very early in the game.

You start the game with the "Default" and "Classic" suits in your wardrobe.

The "Default" is the movie suit.  "Classic" is the Comic Books suit.

With Spider Man's 50th anniversary they have coded the game to make more suits available as time goes by.

If you tamper with your dashboard settings and go to the right locations you can unlock some of the other suits.

Further suits may be available as DLC.

The closet certainly isn't full with the planned unlockeables.

I'd love to see the original Black Suit (from Amazing Spider-Man # 252) but so far you get Sam Raimi's comedy black suit from "Spider-Man 3".

If you complete the game and restart (say to do a harder difficulty) your suits will carry over in your closet but ALL your stats will reset.

    "Haymaker Achievement" isn't glitched.

It works when you upgrade to the "Web Rush Punch" ability and then actually use it against an enemy.

    Az

I find your lack of faith... disturbing.

  • Just got 700 myself and they were deffo spawning which means there were never 600 available from the off - disregard the 100 random floating comics - and that technically made the first 500 all the more difficult. Collected within 4 days too. Now to carry on with the game proper. :-)

  • Level: 5
  • Just finished the main game, I now have the majority of the collectibles too, only a few achievements to mop up now, then it's on to the Superhero difficulty, been a fantastic game though, definitely recommend it.

Also, i assume you have to restart in order to do the higher difficulty and can't just replay the chapters, so does anyone know of a way i can keep my save? I'd rather not loose my 90 odd percent completion for one achievement.

Cheers for the info Az, I must have missed that when you posted originally.

In regard to the Alien Costume, I did always find it kind of funny that because of the publishing schedule it appeared in Amazing Spider-Man before Peter acquired it in Secret Wars 8.

There is an Iphone version of this game which is published by Gameloft but I believe has been developed by Beenox as well.

The Alien Costume is available in this one so hopefully it shall be available as future DLC for the full console releases.

It unlocks when your have satisfied the preconditions.

Floppy has not done so and to make matters worse, he has tampered with his game.

Possibly it's bugged but I haven't really seen any evidence of this yet.

So far what I see is a game that was designed to be enjoyed over a longer period of time than a Love Film Rental.

    Az

Ok mate, I'll explain it once again for you cos you seem not to understand.

I completed all chapters, got 100% of all the collectibles, etc in them... did all the open world stuff and the "web Rush Punch" upgrade remained locked.... Everything else unlocked, the abilities before it and the abilities after it.

There was literally nothing left to do in the game.... the unlocking of the ability bugged out and therefore made it so I couldn't 100% complete it or get some of the achievements.

I did not "tamper" with my game and frankly it's insulting of you to say that.

After I'd realised I wouldn't be able to unlock the punch upgrade/cheevs I did the console clock trick to get the costumes.... Unlocking the costumes had absolutely nothing to do with the upgrade bugging out.

When I load that save I'm stuck on 96% completion and have the "upgrade available" notification constantly at the top left of the screen, but there's no upgrades to buy, just a box where "web rush punch" should be with a padlock on it.

I'm not the only person this has happened to, a quick google will show this.

Anyway, I'm not explaining it again....

I started a new game on the hard setting, so fingers crossed it doesn't bug out again.

  • I managed to get 500 comics this morning, so now it's just a matter of looking on the map for them! Overall though the search for them hasn't been bad at all, good fun and nowhere near the nightmare trying to find the orbs on Crackdown ;)

  • I did try and explain to him, but i gave up D:

anyway, question for anyone who uses cloud, if i copied my save to the cloud (can you even do that), and then started a new game, would it just delete the save on my hard drive? allowing me to delete my superhero save once i've finished it, and then move my current save back, and enjoy 100% completion?

  • I would say if your a fan (and you appear to be) buy it, i literally just finished 100%ing it, unlocking the 'New Black Suit' which looks badass, neither of the 'Black Suits' are the original symbiote suit from the comics though, like the one in your sig, just so you know. But the one you get for 100% completion does look rather awesome. Anyway, the game doesn't last forever, i got it on release and got my 100% today, but I'm sure theres more in the way of DLC to come, costumes at least, I feel it was worth my purchase anyway.

Biggest downside for me is the saving system, you can only have one save and it works on auto save, meaning if your save gets glitched, you're starting again, and i recommend playing on Super-hero, especially if you want to 100% the game, as I'm now going to have to delete my 100% save just to play on a harder difficulty which is really annoying. Unless i can find a way around it and move my save somewhere, either to the cloud or an external drive.

  • For you folks that have managed to get all 700 comics.

I have 699 lol but cannot find the last one, I'm pretty sure I have searched all of the map, of course I could have missed something ;) but before my search continues, the last one doesn't appear after a certain time, or you have to do a certain mission etc?

    Many thanks!

  • Nah mate, it'll be there, but some of the comics you have to be at the right height to have them show on the mini-map.

Try going to the top of the huge Oscorp tower, there's a flying one that's waaay up above it.

There's also a sneaky one out at sea.

Other than that, swing at varying heights.

    Very much appreciated fella!

I was starting to think it only appeared after a certain time/mission, my search shall continue tonight :)

    Thanks again.

  • Just finished my Super Hero run, and now have the full 1000/1000, if anyone is thinking of doing a double run through type thing, you CAN keep you original save, if like me you had 100% It's also possible to keep both saves, just copy your original save over to either the cloud or a USB stick, then hit new game on the save on your HDD, once your done with your second run, you can then move your original save back to the HDD (deleting your second save) if you would like to keep both saves you could either leave your original on the Cloud and just load that one up when you want it, or if you'd rather it was on the HDD as i did, use both the cloud and a USB stick in order to move both saves around getting your original back on the HDD and second run on the cloud without deleting either one.

If you mean the comic pages out in the city, then after you've found the first 500 on your own the rest appear on your mini-map as you move around.

No other collectibles appear on the map.

Collectibles in the various levels don't appear on the map either.... they're not hard to find though as they either glow gold or bluey-silver.

Certain collectibles are found within missions, if you miss any you can replay any mission at any time but just visiting your apartment.

When your swinging about the city ( free roaming ) there are 700 comics to find, to be honest they are not too hard to spot, even if you don't actually see one on screen your character might spot one and you get a warning on screen to that one is nearby.

Also when you have collected 500 comics the rest show up as yellow dots on the mini map when you are near them, like I said though they are not too hard to find.

I didn't pay anything for it mate, borrowed my sons copy lol.

Apart from some annoying bugs/glitches ( Only have to do a quick Google search and there's enough people reporting them ) where sometimes the only way I could continue was to exit to dashboard and load up again, it was a really good game! Not the best game I've played this year but worth a rent at the very least or if it came down in price then I wouldn't hesitate in recommending a purchase.

    Very true.

I'd say to anyone now to rent Spiderman as soon as they could because it is alot of fun! Couldn't recommend anyone to pay around the £40 mark though, if it came down in price to around £20 then I'd say go for it.

I am watching and awaiting the price of this game in the shops and online to come down............I payed full price for Spiderman 1 & 2 and never did fully play them.

  • I disagree with anyone knocking the price of "The Amazing Spider-Man".

    It's definately worth full price.

    It's fun to play.

It looks great, has a good story, great controls but on top of all of that it's really fun to play.

There are no bugs with this game though a handful of people have managed to experience some bugs, just like any other game.

If you google bugs in "The Amazing Spider-Man" all you'll find is links to reviews and write ups and a single Youtube video where they managed to catch Spiderman in a glitch that made him run in place when he should have been web swinging.

So if you only play games for the achievements (and there's nothing wrong with people who do) you should get this.  Poison Rogue has shown that a full 1K is within your grasp.

But if you like to be entertained by your games then you have even more reason to pick this up.

I've just finished the story today but I still have collectables and challenges to complete.

Once I've done that I'll play through again on "Super Hero" difficulty.

Great game that's definately worth the full asking price though if you look around you may even find it slightly cheaper.

I'm not sure because I've never played "Spider-Man: Web Of Shadows".

It is the best "Openworld City" game I've played to date when compared to the likes of "Incredible Hulk" and "Prototype".

The web swinging is really well done and the "Web Rush" feature really augments an already solid experience.

You should see if you can track down a copy.

Looks a little ropey by today's standards and the camera will on occasion give the worst possible angle, but it is great fun to play. Web-swinging is reasonably 'realistic' as you can't just swing where there is nothing to fasten your web to.

There are lots of collectibles to pick up (if that's your thing), plenty of random crimes to stop, a great mix of heroes and villains (who you can get to fight alongside you).

Also there is an alignment system system which changes not only whether you can call on heroes or villains to aid you in a fight but will change the ending.

You get to change between the 'classic' suit and the alien costume at will, with each having its own move set. Generally though classic favours quick hit and run attacks with the alien costume doing more damage straight on.

The game will also warn you when you are about to advance the main story, so you get a choice as to carry straight on or mop up the side-missions/challenges for more XP.

Some great voice talent in the game as well.

Really worth checking out in my opinion.

I've not played the incredible Hulk and to be honest Prototype 1 and 2 never struck a cord with me. I am a big Spidey fan though, so I can see where my birthday money is going to be spent.

  • I think the game only warrants a rental, unless you could buy it cheap. Maybe a Marvel nut or a comic book/superhero fan would see things differently.

    ---

My only grievance(s) with the game is the is the irregular unresponsiveness of the swinging - sometimes no matter how many times RT is pressed, nothing happens. The combat isn't the greatest either.

    ---

Still relatively minor and takes nothing away from the experience. Not as technically brilliant as Batman, but IMO, its a lot more fun! 8/10

I've not played Web of Shadows myself, a friend of mine that has said The Amazing Spider Man is alot better.

Like others have said and I agree, this game is fun, in a way it was a nice suprise, didn't know alot about this game before release so have been pleasantly suprised to how fun it was.

I still stick to what I said before, having borrowed my sons copy I didn't pay a penny for this game, having finished the main story and the majority of the side quests this would have been a great rental, if I had bought the game I wouldn't have felt I'd got my money's worth if I had paid more than £20, so for me, rent away, if your going to buy, wait for the price to drop.

I know some haven't encountered many glitches/bugs but there is enough people out there that have, myself had a few times where I got stuck on the side of a building, landed on top of a car and again got stuck.Towards the end of the main story I twice had to go back to dashboard and re-load the game before I could continue, know of one other friend who also had same problem.

I wouldn't give it an overall score, just to say I had fun with this game despite the bugs/glitches.
