Hulu Plus is now available on Xbox LIVE in the US. If you haven't tried Hulu Plus yet, it's an awesome way to watch TV and movies on your own schedule, and to catch up on series you've missed. It offers unlimited instant streaming access to current episodes of many popular TV shows from ABC, Comedy Central, Fox, MTV, NBC, and more. You can catch the latest episodes of hits like Modern Family, Family Guy, Glee, The Daily Show, and even Jersey Shore, as well as dozens of other popular TV shows. You can also stream some of cinema's most acclaimed films from the Criterion Collection. In addition to catching up on 30 Rock episodes that I missed, I've been using Hulu Plus to watch the classic Kurosawa films that I hadn't seen so far. (If you haven't seen them yet, Kurosawa's excellent films were a major inspiration for George Lucas when he created the original Star Wars.)

You'll need a standard Hulu Plus membership to use the service, which costs $7.99/month and includes limited advertising. The Hulu Plus membership also lets you watch watch shows any supported Internet-connected device, so you can start watching a show on your Xbox 360 and wrap it up later on your laptop or mobile phone.

  • I was excited reading this until I realised the dark fact it is US only. . .

I don't see why Australia and other countries do not get these sort of options?

More money would be made and more customers satisfied, including me :(

  • @Leadership  This post: www.hulu.com/.../171122 explains why its U.S. only for the time being.

  • Im with Leadership. Microsoft need to stop thinking of just their US members, and start thinking as a global product.

Stop wasting time adding localised services like this, which only benefit a part of the community (and infuriate a much larger part of the community), and start focusing on services that are available globally, and will benefit the entire xbox community.

  • that also dissapoints me that US members get alot more out of xbox live than what we do :(

  • It's not the fault of microsoft that things like this are not available globally, it has to do with laws that prevent companies like netflix and hulu from streaming outside the US

  • Hulu Plus is great im glad it came to Xbox. If you love old movies I found these great shows and movies on there you should watch (www.hulu.com/.../american-pop-classics).

  • I tried the hulu plus 1 week trial but found it too annoying with all the ads. Not going to pay for this if they are going to continue with the ads. I now get e-mails from hulu about every 3 days saying how they miss me (after I cancelled the free trial) and that I still have it for a month on LIVE. Seriously....not worth it with all the ads........if I want ads I'll watch TV.

  • Yes! That's great. Now I can watch TV shows on my Xbox. Sounds great.

  • I agree. I tried the 1 week trial. Turned on a episode of Aeon Flux. Watched a commercial, then hulu loaded the opening of the show (1-3 minutes) then another commercial. I turned off my console at that point. I'm not here to watch adds of things I have ZERO interest in.

Agree with you. Microsoft is too U.S. focussed, that is why the price of the console is much cheaper there than most of the rest of the world. It also explains why most countries outside of the U.S. still don't have Kinect voice control. If they wanted to upset Kinect owners with that they have suceeded. They are too focussed on adding U.S. only applications rather than looking objectively at what the rest of the world wants.

Another thing, if any PS3 users are looking at the Xbox side for a possible switchover during the PSN outage they will see no reason to change over. Apart from third party games, there is virtually nothing going on in the first half of this year for our console. There are virtually no exclusives Kinect or non-Kinect exclusives at all. Microsoft sell most consoles in the last quarter of the year and are now starting to ignore most of the rest of the year. Leaving almost all of the 'big' announcements for the E3 game show in June is just bad strategy and is leaving a big void which Sony is happy to fill with their trumpeting of '20 exclusives for 2011'. I really don't see a logical strategy at all for the Xbox brand. I think the Xbox 360 is a great console with untapped potential but I am concerned about the strategy going forward.

  • yeah this sucks its only fer the US

  • No need to feel left out of Hulu Plus if you aren't 'Merkin... a great deal of the content is "Web Only" and is unavailable to stream through your 360. This is doubly annoying in that Hulu has blamed this fact on their "content providers", saying that those limits are out of their control.

Funny thing that Hulu IS the content provider in many of these cases. I believe "Community" is on NBC. NBC owns a piece of Hulu.

This "Web Only" crud has Comcraps's name all over it. Not worth the fee until they allow full streaming access to all of their content.

  • wow unfortunately not in germany :)

  • Not available in my country :(

  • nothing can be done about availiablility of hulu or netflix

hulu is us only  by choice (no other country can get hulu) or last fm

netflix is limited by distibution laws  therefore whatever countries has netflix or sky players thats what they are limited to

netflix is not just limited to us it has canada and a few other countries However to get into canada netflix had to adapt to the local laws (the 30% canadian content rule)

providing content is not easy as oh this country can have our service

they have to talk to the licensees in this case MPAA and the local governments
