An update to Xbox.com is in the works to add a number of new features for finding friends to play with online, including an early chance to use the new Beacons feature coming in the next Xbox 360 dashboard update!

Freaking amazing. I love how Microsoft is taking the bull by the horns and eliminating the need for third party gaming sites. I look forward to this, very much!

Only thing that would place the cherry at the top of the proverbial yumcake would be to orchestrate a new gamercard page so i can share that card on this forum and others instead of having to go through third parties. :)

Text formatting is still broken and page loading times are still as bad as they were in the beta, which was six months ago.

These are nice features, especially the tighter integration with Windows Phone. :)

One thing that needs fixing is the Message system. Say you message someone, you begin to play a game and forgot your conversation. (it only shows what they said) So now you got to piece together a puzzle you don't have all the pieces. This has been a great concern to me since I've been a member. Who also has struggled with this??? and am I alone on this ?

so wait, since I can now look to see who is online from the “Social” section, then will I never need to use the "Friends" section? because if I don't ever use the "Friends" section, then I am going to feel pretty ripped off because of the money I used to buy premium themes now will just get me a background. I mean the only reason I bought the Fallout 3 theme I have now was to see my friends avatar's hanging out in the DC Wasteland. Is this going to be a problem or am I overreacting?  

I read somewhere that the xbox 360 update is released on the 25 of November, is this true?

the last part. every major update affects themes differently, its just something yer gonna have to get used to. i have themes that looked great on the blades that were useless when NXE launched and [suddenly] look good under metro. its a hit or miss thing, prolly not gonna change long term

im actually thrilled they deleted the friend backgrounds cause it makes all themes functional again, those default backgrounds looked terrible and not every premium theme replaced them. a lot of free themes actually look pretty good now that friend backgrounds are disabled, i think i was a good move

love the beacons, cant wait to see more ppl w/ them. beacons could use an option to set times without using comments. it works now but itd be better if scheduling beacons were integrated into the system. also, because theres no integrated time feature theres no way to get a reminder to check/update/delete a beacon

Very cool. I'm still waiting for a forums page that shows all of your forum posts without having to favorite each thread. I just miss the old "my forums" page. :(

I noticed that some of my achievement unlocked dates on my Xbox.com profile are incorrect since the update yesterday.  The console dates have remained the same and correct.  The Xbox.com dates got messed up when they did the last update some months ago but seemed to correct itself.  Anyone else noticing incorrect achievement earned dates on their online profile since they updated?

The page is just too cluttered. They've tried to push too many things onto the one page and as a result not enough of anything is available.

Works fairly well except for sending a message to friends through xbox.com.  Why is this so slow?

You type in a sentence and then wait ten seconds for it to appear.

This looks very cool! The beacon idea is great, though I still wish they had made fixing forum issues a higher priority.

i would like the option to list all friends that have played a specific game.  so I can find someone to play with faster. not just recent activity

in the compare games it does not show all achievements so it is not realy right.  this is on mw3 so it is not like it did not transfer it just did not register!

Gotta say, dropped the ball again microsoft.  Why do you keep changing things that do not need to be changed and not fixing things that desperately need to be fixed?  How many gamers will have to permanently switch to the PS3 before you realize that you are focusing on the wrong things?  BRING BACK THE BLADES AS THEY WERE WHEN THE 360 LAUNCHED!!!!!  That was the only dashboard worth having!

The new dashboard coming today is essentially the same system as the blades, it's just advertisements have been expanded in order to grab the focus of the eye.

Got the new dashboard and cant even stand looking at the dashboard anymore. Changed the Start-up to disc and turned autoplay on to minimise the amount of time the dashboard will show for. They took their smartphone interface thats been around for ages and been used on several different different devices (mobiles, tablets, PCs [Windows 8 developers preview], the xbox.com website, possibly more) and applied it to the xbox360 calling it "new" and "fresh" more like "cluttered" "old" "overused" and "uninspired". Someone, please, FIRE THE DESIGN TEAM.
