Severe Unsporting Conduct, Why should people pay to put up with this ?

    • Level   1

I'm pretty over this, as i'm sure most people are, especially those who actually pay for their internet and Xbox LIVE accounts out of their own money,

Spawn killing, it happens all the time, its a fact of life almost, but when a group of people get together just to do it, influencing the entire outcome of a game, it becomes a bit much, so rather than send abusive messages and get reported myself, im bringing it up here,

Playing a game of Grifball on Halo Reach today, i encountered a team of four players, in a party together, we started the game, in the first round i got an Overkill against the other team, FAIRLY, the other team all moved to our teams spawn, spread out, one team member to every spawn point, all my team members quit, not wanting to be a part of such a pointless and pathetic match, i personally chose to stay in the game for the completion bonus, the enemy team decided they would stay on what were then all my spawns, they didnt score to end the game quickly, spawn killing before i even had a chance to move.

These guys decided they would hold the ball to stop me from scoring, then spawn kill me 151 times over 13 minutes, obviously i could have quit the game, but why should i have to quit games to avoid pathetic behavior like this ? why do people get to so obviously undermine the idea of the game, and ruin the gaming experience for others, immature people take it too far, and then feel that they should report people who tell them what theyre doing is stupid and annoying, acting like this requires no skill, and does nothing but earn the people doing it credits, medals, commendations and experience for basically cheating.

I am pretty sure you cant name and shame on the forums. But spawn killing isnt illegal, it is a douch move but sometimes you just got to deal with it. Next time just leave, report and move on

If you didn't want to quit the game to get a bonus or whatever, why not just go do something else while the game completes. Go make yourself a nice cuppa tea and read a chapter of a book or something. You can file reports for unsporting conduct, but TBH in this case, I would say just set them as avoided players and try to avoid playing with them in future. If they get nobody to play against them, they may change the way they play... and certainly wont have a lot of fun playing by themselves.

You  should not name others on the forums, it is a breach of the rules here.

Halo Reach is about a 8.25 game but when Halo combat evolved comes back out im thinking a 9.25 to maybe a 10 if the new mp style move with reach mp combined in we will see

So spawn killing, this is an interesting topic. There is a) nothing against spawn killing, b) not a 'Douche' move as 24 hours so kindly put it, and c) if you are getting spawn killed if just means your team is terrible.

In order to spawn kill you have to a) have map control, b) have the team backed into a 'Corner', and c) have exceptional team work. Spawn killing is an art, it is not something that is easy in any way. If you are getting spawn killed, you a) need to get better, b) need better teammates, c) play a different game, or d) all of the above.

Think about it, are you EVER going to pass up a kill just because they 'JUST' spawned? Are you going to turn your back on that enemy just because he just re-spawned?

NO! You Kill him because that is the game. You kill him because he is alive and trying to kill you. You don't run away because he just spawned. You kill him and then wait there and kill him again. Stop all this non-sense and just play the game.

I choose to remain silver. Online multi-player doesn't interest me much, as I prefer deeper, one player experiences (not that there's many of those left anyway). The few times I have "upgraded" to gold... The amount of cheating, obnoxious children, idiot adults and general unsportsmanlike play completely ruined any chance I would ever continue to pay for Live on any type of ongoing basis. Besides, it's something nobody except 360 users pay for. What a rip.

Lots of players dislike spawn killing, although it maybe skillful to do so IYO, it is a cheap shot and is totally unfair to the person being spawned.

If you are in a very competetive game, and spawn killing is agreed by all players to be allowable, then fine.

But, if you are just playing with random players out for a good game, you should avoid using unfair tactics that would make people want to quit.

These are GAMES afterall, and the whole point of a GAME is to have FUN! :)

I dont think you should totally give up on MP games, the next time a game comes out that you might want to try online buy it on release, Its usually a few months before  the cheats/griffers/modders show up.

Well you stayed for the completion bonus. You could have left like the other teammates who knew what was coming and saved yourself a ton of grief. At any given time there are several thousand people playing Halo Reach so not sure what to say. You could find other players and form your own party to play gametypes where losing a player can make the game unplayable. Also if you were playing and the tables were turned would you not kill them and just let them win because they had the bad luck of having their teammates leave?

"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

Every time I get spawn trapped (not a lot because I play with friends) I just leave the game before I find myself raging. I suggest you make some Halo Reach friends who can handle themselves in the game and play with them.
