For the record I am only talking about RTCW Tides of War for the xbox, and this has NOTHING to do with the PC version.
I own the PC, PS2 and xbox versions of RTCW, and I can state for a fact that all 3 versions are different.
PS2 version has no multiplayer and some single player maps are split into 2 parts, so this port doesn't concern me.
The PC version has weapons sounds for some weapons different from the Xbox and PS2 version.
The xbox version has the shotgun and some exclusive items and enemies like the occult priest, x-shepard, while the other versions don't.
The PC version now has 15 multiplayer maps. The xbox version has 16, because Depot for PC was split into Depot and Trainyard for xbox. Depot on PC had both sides as attackers, while on the xbox, the 2 maps made it so that only one side attacked.
There are 7 maps that stayed the same between PC and xbox ports.
Sub (Das Boot)
There are 2 maps that are the same, but the PC version has an area that has low traffic so that there is no point in adding that piece of the map in the xbox version.
Destruction, when you spawn and you turn around, on the PC you see a broken building, while on the xbox, you just see a wall.
Chateau, a DLC map on the xbox, but also a map on PC. The PC has an alternate route to the chateau entrance. The xbox version doesn't have that flanking route. Also a door present in the PC version, that you can open and go through, is not present in the xbox version. The windows in the western part of the chateau are boarded up in the xbox version, not so in the PC version.
There are 3 maps that are "half" a map for the xbox version in comparison to the PC version
Village, I don't know how to explain it, but the area where the forward spawn, and the "restaurant" are, and the cellar, is missing in the xbox version.
Ice, the forward spawn and the tunnel system, and the whole Axis spawn area is cut out in the xbox version. The Axis now spawn in the Allied spawn in the hut near the tunnel, while the Allies spawn near the fortress. The fortress wall is already destroyed in the xbox version, and the radio transmitter is not attached to the Allied spawn, now Axis spawn near the tunnel.
I already explained how Depot got translated from the PC to the xbox.
Now here is the MOST IMPORTANT PART. There are 3 maps that one version has, but the other doesn't have.
On the PC version, they are, Tram Siege (Tram), The Damned (Dam), and Rocket. All 3 maps are too huge for the xbox to handle, so they got some different maps.
The xbox has:
Norway, a map where you start out at the docks in a frozen village, and you are supposed to steal some documents and return them to the spawn, and this map isn't DLC, as it came with the game in the disc;
SAFE, a map in a ruined building where you are supposed to destroy the tesla generator generating electricity blocking access to a safe, destroy the safe to get the documents and escape with it in an awaiting truck, THIS MAP IS DLC;
BARN, a map set in a barn where the objective is to destroy an ammo cache, and THIS MAP IS DLC.
As you can see, 2 of the maps not available in the PC version are original xbox DLC. I also said I own both versions, but even subtle differences makes me treat both versions as separate games, and as such, a response as "go play the PC version", is probably not what I want to hear. Even if there are no people playing this game anymore, I still go in and start up a system link server alone, and just walk around and shoot at walls, on BOTH the PC and xbox versions, as the gun sounds are different, and the feel is different.
When DLC is downloaded, downloading takes time. Not for RTCW tides of war. Back then, when I "downloaded" these things, all it took was less than a second and it was "downloaded". There was no "Downloading" bar, or anything. This leads me to think that these 3 DLC maps are already on the disc, and by going to the Downloads menu, I am simply merely unlocking them, but then again, when I downloaded them, they created new files on my xbox, to suggest they are downloads, so I don't know.
