I've been trying to complete the encyclopedia, it's where you have to observe your fellow homesteaders bug I can't seem to find out what I have to do. I am almost finished with the homestead missions so I hope That doesn't mess up my chances to get that achievement.

Got to catch them while not in active homestead missions, as they go about their tasks. It's tricky, cause you need three seperate examples of each, while they work.

I've gotten all the farmer and innkeeper ones done.

Does anyone know if the subjects are in predetermined spots or are just randomly dispersed around the homestead?

You need to catch them performing tasks that are to do with their profession. So for example you want to catch a Woodworker while he's making something

Same here. Completed all the constraints, no achievement! Just ANOTHER glitch in this game!!!!

When I do the woodworker, I scan him twice and it says that he is comete. Must be another glitch on that.

Yeah, my woodworker is glitched. I only scanned 2 and it gives me complete.

And my lumberers are done but it doesn't give me the completed note in the logs.

I also need one more for tailor.

When are they going to fix this? lol

Where are the logs? I can't seem to find it anywhere

Pull up your map, push down once on the left stick for the logs.

Patch coming Thanksgiving to fix issue:

"Side-quest "ENCYCLOPEDIA OF THE COMMON MAN", fixed a bug where the quest could sometimes not be completed"

i got framers, it says 3/3 i keep scanning the framers  doing something  every time it new but it wont log it in the books

No worries patch #2 will come

A lot of people stuck on Woodwokers 2/3 but it reads in the log as woodworker complete, check your number for Lumberers as well (Catherine, Godfrey etc).

If Lumberers reads 3/3 but doesn't say completed then you have a small glitch and can complete Woodworker by scanning a Lumberer (either Catherine churnning butter or something).

This has worked for a couple of my mates but not for me as I had already completed Lumberers. Hope it helps.

The patch promises to fix this issue, so I've put AC3 on hold till it's out. Supposed to be this week sometime I think, info says around thanksgiving, but I'm Canadian and we had thanksgiving a month ago, so I'm not sure when exactly that is.

Yeah this was pretty annoying. I only had the lumbers left at the end, but all they did was to smoke and fish. Eventually though they started doing something else. They only do stuff on the day, so don't waste your time by trying to do it at night.

With the patch I was able to get the achievment

Well the patch didn't resolve my issue. I still don't have the achievement although I've completed all the requirements. Mine however isn't a woodworker/lumberer issue, it's with the farmers. I have them listed as 3/3, but there is no log entry for them. Does anyone have any information about an alternate group I could scan (such as the instance with the woodworker and lumberers) that may fix this? I'm going to be posting this at Ubi as well, but if there are any suggestions here, I'd appreciate them.

I don't know if it's the same problem, but I had the doctor listed as 3/3 and thought I had done everything with him. But then I "accidentally" scanned him again and I got the log entry thing. Try scanning them again and see if it pops up.

You need to scan another thing the farmers do that you have not already. I had the same issue with the farmers, and I just scanned another thing I had not already and it gave me the 3/3 again, this time with the log. I believe there are 5 scannable things with the farmers. Of which I can remember are: Prudence milking, feeding chickens and Wallace plowing and scaring away rabbits off the fields, and something to do with a small building. Oh and he will sometimes be at the windmill with Lance the wood worker, spinning it manually. I'll double check and get back to you to confirm these activities.

I have the same problem as GolfPro72. It really sucks cause that's one of the 3 achievements I need.

Whatcha Jameser - Following them round is a bad thing, I found the more I hung around the less they wanted to work. Same for the farmers, the doctor etc. The best way I found was run around the Homestead getting as many you can, leave and do some hunting or a mission until at least a day has passed in game and then return and scan them again. Doing it this way seemed far quicker than watching him fix that stupid wheel or fish all the time.

Also as a side note any of the workers can be scanned playing bowls next to the Inn, this was how I finished Doctors and Lumberers. I haven't tried this post update however.

I just need 1 more from the lumberers.

I've tried following them, and I've gone and done missions, checking back in between each mission that lets me, and nothing.

I completed this yesterday, needed the final Lumberer one as well

Two of them are the lumberers themselves, one is for one of their wives....so scan them as well, thats how it popped for me

Wives doing what? I've tried them cleaning windows and churning butter, but neither work.

just keep scanning them, washing windows, going for a walk, I just scanned one for the sake of it and it popped as she was walking to the house
