  • Will suck as all you are going to here is

    BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!!

And in return all the "epic" tank battles will be... well... not there.

All the skill based tanking is already dead as shells don't even arc anymore. This is pathetic. Lets not forget about auto-repairing vehicles too though.

  • I must admit, the more time goes on the more I find I'm gravitating towards small-to-mid-sized maps that allow one to be successful either on foot or in a vehicle. Too many maps, especially on Conquest, make vehicles an absolute requirement for success--and sometimes, I'd rather work towards my weapon's dogtag or next service star rather than having to hop into a tank in order to have a fighting chance. On the other hand, I find I don't enjoy maps where vehicles are completely absent. They change things up and add an element of strategy. Operation Firestorm actually works surprisingly well either on foot or in vehicles; given its size and the number of tanks and jets and helicopters, one would think that infantry on that map will only get points if they are on anti-vehicle duty. Caspian Border, on the other hand, is a little too big and open for infantry to do much more than capping flags and shooting rockets at vehicles.

Personally, I don't find myself excited by either announcement. What would really get me back into this game is if they announced a fix for all the hoops you need to jump through just to play on the same team as your friends. A competent matchmaking system that is party-friendly or lobby-friendly is what this game really needs, and it shouldn't be too hard seeing as how it's been perfected since Halo 2!

    Proudly mediocre.

  • Tank sniping in Heavy Metal was fun. Once that expansion pack rolls around, I'm going to be rocking that smoke perk for tanks.

  • this sucks, that sucks, i dont even know about this cuz details havent been announce and its going to suck so hard. am i part of the club now? give it a chance imo.

  • Alright. These map packs and expansions are completely optional. You do not have to buy them if you think they will suck. So instead of constantly bashing everything DICE announces, how about you just not buy it? They're not forcing you. If everything sucks so horrifically about the game and the new maps, don't play it or them. Simple.

  • I agree with the OP, however, I'll still play all the maps. As you can see by my recent games, I enjoy all the BFs I can play. Playing BF3 is much different than playing the others, though. But either way, I'll load out my class for the job at hand, and grit my teeth and try to enjoy it.

Armored Kill should be fun. But if you have issues about the Close Quarters one, just equip C4 and wait for people to blinding run around. I know you had to of picked up that skill from Rainbow Six at some point.

  • I am looking forward to armored kill, all I am trying to point out is all the gadgets are going to take away from the experience. Remember Heavy Metal and how fun that map was, minus the helicopter base ***? I would be glad with that but BF3 has guided shells which will ultimately reduce the effect of skill based tank sniping. Hopefully smoke is given a boost to prevent guided shell spam.

What exactly is your idea of fun?

  • Everything working and me getting what I was promised will lead to fun like I had experienced for the past 6 years.

Releasing a game with broken features being lied to about what should be expected is not fun.

I loved Bf2MC (2006-2008) [bought it twice Ps2 then Xbox 360 thats how much fun it was]

    I loved BC1 (2008-2010)

I loved the 1943 trial (didn't want to buy it with all the fun I was still having on Bc1)

    I loved Bc2  (2010-2011)

    Not a fan of BF3

    .

I expected BF to stay BF but it isn't anymore. It's Cod. If I wanted to play Cod I would play Cod not BF.

When advertising, company PR will use loose terminology and generalizations.  They aren't lying, but they aren't being accurate about things that some people may define differently.  They've given themselves "wiggling room", like any smart PR would.

Alright time to counter this thread,

    A. Programming is a pain and can be very unstable even with a small mistake and DICE does not have a good track record with patching things up or coding things right the first time but as long as it still gets fixed we are fine.

    B. Battlefield 3 stuck more to its original roots with the PC version instead of the Console titles. BF2 was awesome and seeing your list you weren't there in the days of it. So its understandable why you do not like BF3.

    C. Battlefield 3 is not becoming Call of Duty, its still sticking to its own gameplay style granted maybe modified and changed but its still the mostly the same.

I really don't care if "it stuck to it's PC roots". This caused the game to not be good on consoles. I know a good game when I play one; I don't judge a game by how much it is like it's previous installment, I judge a game by how good it is. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was a fun shooter where you had to move and think with your squad. Battlefield 3 is a shooter where you can run around by yourself and be fine. It's to generic, and therefore I have no drive to play it.

Yes it could be very difficult but it is their job and their self proclaimed Frostbite 2 engine.  They also get paid to do it and have been doing it for years. Honestly what fixes? We were promised the "game-saving" FEBRUARY patch but it is mid-March and no sign of a patch. Most think it may come in June. February patch in June makes a whole lot of sense eh? I think it will come late April but that is still 2 months after what was promised. No we are not fine until they actually try to fix it. Also they can't even fix the games biggest problem which is a direct result of using client side hit detection.

    B. Battlefield 3 stuck more to its original roots with the PC version instead of the Console titles. BF2 was awesome and seeing your list you weren't there in the days of it. So its understandable why you do not like BF3. lol. That is why people mock DICE for saying "a true sequel to BF2"? Here I'll through in a link and go on that site and tell everyone how BF3 is a true sequel to BF2. Just because I only have played on consoles does not mean I can't notice a shift in gameplay.

*BTW: BF3 is most liked by people whose first BF3 game is BF3 or was Bc2. It is hated by a significant portion of the PC gaming community.

    C. Battlefield 3 is not becoming Call of Duty, its still sticking to its own gameplay style granted maybe modified and changed but its still the mostly the same.

Close Quarters? 16 players on maps designed for the slow paced Rainbow Six games = Clusterfuck.

The thing is BF is "evolving", as DICE puts, into a Cod hybrid in-order to attract the "target audience".

At least you can still go on Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and find a full room of people that play the game. It might be slower paced than this game or COD, that's because they actually represented the weight of equipment/body armor you carry somewhat realisticly. Also, Ubisoft got the balance right between all the weapons even with sight attachments. Maybe DICE devs should ask them how they did that. Since one poster around here(not you) is always complaining about the "bling" on the weapons.

    A. If you ever played BF2 you know why DICE has always had issues with making a good stable patch. Things can go array and programming is not friends to change. Change something in one area, potentially make bad things happen in another.

    B. Alot of BF fans enjoy the sequel alot. Back to Karkand DLC made us relieve moments back in the BF2 days course with destruction included. And your saying of gameplay notice, you only saw videos but never played the game. Watching something being played vs actually playing it is different enough.

    C. Close Quarters is DLC, if this happened in the Core ttiel then yeh we be having issues but its DLC and optional to play. Alot of Former and still CoD players play BF3, DICE wants to please everyone. The Armored DLC pack will appeal more towards BF fans.

SO maybe they should learn how to do that before they start pumping out DLC. You know fix the game before trying to milk it to death. Build a solid base before trying to add more levels on it. etc.

I love the B2K maps, I wonder why? Ohh right there was no way they could possibly *** them up because they are great maps compared to some that came with BF3. I am saying the gameplay changed on consoles too. The teamplay/tactical side of the BF franchise is nowhere to be seen in BF3. It's a water-downed game to attract Cod kids.

Basically the BF players will go a whole year without getting any DLC. We only have 9 good maps at the moment and 4 of them are from previous BF games. Bazzar, Tehran, Metro, and Damavand are terrible maps. So some people only really have 5 new maps to play on.

BTW: If Cod players want to have a Cod experience maybe they should play Cod. Why is DICE bending over for them and not trying to please their own loyal customers?

That would be the one. I loved on Vegas 1 on the map Casino, you could place it in one spot upstairs. It was by the hall of new slot machine and there was a large doorway to that room. I would place them on the ceiling and take cover behind the slot machine. I recall so many clan matches almost stopping after a dozen or so kills in that hallway. Always good times with C4.

Armored Kill will come in between SaturdaySeptember 22, 2012, and ThursdayDecember 20, 2012. The game came out in late October. I assume that Armored Kill will release in Oct/Nov. That is a whole year. I don't include B2K as DLC as it was already finished by the time the game went gold. DICE/EA were greedy and didn't put it on the disk in order to force those who didn't have the limited edition to buy it.

You do not know DICE's history with patches and stuff so I am going to leave it at that. As long as it comes, we are happy. The B2K DLC wasn't finished by the time the game went gold, they were still play testing the maps for bugs and issues, thats why it got released in Dec and not earlier. Pre-Ordering the game to get Limited Edition copy was a great way to get the B2K for free, if you didn't pre-order it or manage to get a LE copy after its your fault and not theirs, they were giving everyone a chance.

I pre-ordered and got the LE just pointing out a way they are milking the franchise. It was essentially finished as you admit. They marketed B2K as DLC that is why it came out as DLC and not with the disc. It wasn't really DLC as it was already finished. And I do know DICE's history with patches. Its back and forth. They nerf it then make it oo bad then the buff it and make the gun too strong - rinse repeat. The fact of the matter is DICE failed with patches and haas failed with the "February" Patch.

Stop talking out of your @@@ as you don't even know my history.
