  • So I was debating on whether or not to get Elite for Blops 2. For those of you who have Elite, was paying the extra $50 worth it to you?

She named a stuffed animal after a scientist. Yeah, she's a keeper.

  • If and only if you think that you will buy all the DLC is it a good deal.  Getting to play the maps early is only slightly cool since I'm one of my only friends that had it so I couldn't play those gametypes much.  Everything else about Elite isn't really worth the investment.  All that being said I will be getting Elite for Blops 2.  Hopefully in the Hardened Edition like with MW3.

  • I will be getting it for Blops 2 if they do it like they did for MW3 with the hardened like Beast said. I find elite to be at least worth the $50 for me. If I played MW3 more then I could say it was more than worth it but I do not play it enough.

  • Level: 7
  • Ill get the Hardened because of the early and all DLC, especially for zombies.

  • Yeah the only real advantage with Elite is a small saving if you plan on buying all DLC. I suppose getting to play the maps early is a nice bonus too, but tbh I only have a gander due to the low number of people in the Elite playlist. It makes connection worse than normal as the few people playing are spread worldwide, so I wait until they're released to the whole community.

  • I bet after the broken promises and out right decpetion ELITE 2.0 will see at least a 25% drop in subs this yr. they really screwed alot of people this time around and dont seem to give a sh** about it.

  • I didn't buy Elite for MW3 because I don't trust IW ( with good reason ) + other than CoD4 I don't rate their games.I will however buy Elite for BLOP2 once I have tried the MP for a week or 2,just to make sure 3arch don't .... it up like IW.IMO 3arch give good value for money with their dlc and put the effort into after sales.

  • Based on just on the DLC  from MW3 (and the payed BO DLC), I'd say no. But if you want to do Clan Ops and everything else, it might be worth it.

  • I enjoy CoDE; it gives me even more reason to play the CoD series. I've always bought map-packs, so this was a steal for me. You get all the maps, you get them earlier, you save $5 in the process, you can create clan a that levels & gives it's members multiple opportunities to gain double XP & become unique with Elite clan tag & titles, win actual prizes by enlisting in operations of all kinds, have 24 slots in your vault rather than 6 to save some awesome/funny film clips & screenshots, & more!

    -----

That being said, not all the features promised were given right off the bat. Even now, CoDE is still making strides to improve itself & this is evident with CoDE ver. 2.0 that will be releasing with CoD:BO2. My question is what will CoDE ver. 2.0 offer to make it better?

  • Level: 4
  • 100% not getting ELITE for bops2, when we get the maps early we are limited to what modes we can play them in so if its a mode you don't like your forced to play it.

They should double up the play lists an just add an option regular maps or DLC content an last one ELITE.

Waste of money even thou i got it very cheap.

But now i've just read "Come get some" comment i may buy ELITE lol :P

  • I'll get it with BLOPS 2. It haves some nice perks, besides getting DLC early. Also, I hope they bring back XboxAhoy to do weapon guides for the game.

Explain to me how saving money on the DLC is a scam.  If you don't get Elite and still buy all the DLC you are ripping yourself off.  I think you guys expected way too much from this service.

  • Elite itself (the app) is stupid and pretty pointless, imo. It's ONLY worth buying if you plan on buying all the DLC because you'll get it first and for less.

This one has forgotten if its heatsink is over capacity. It wonders if the criminal scum considers itself fortunate.

    Two ways to answer this:

A: If Elite didn't exist at all, people would still obsess over their K/D and play everything like it was TDM because their Youtube channel is the be all & end all of their empty lives.

B: If Beachhead didn't start Elite, another company would've because it's Activisions offspring.

I like being able to see my total kills beyond 2, 500, Kills/Headshot ratio and other people's stats and classes in detail. It might not be as amazing as they made it out to be but it isn't a travesty or anything.

Ah.. Well, I'm of the ilk that stats should be tapered back, not expanded upon, so you can see why I'd find Elite pretty pointless.

  • The interface that the original black ops was far superior to elite. As a "winter" player primarily I have almost no use for the content drops sent out after the golf season and frankly it seems as I never get the opportunity to play the first drop. Dome - hardhat - dome - hardhat  seems hoe it ends up. I much preferred the random vote on Blops that would at least get you some map variation. I'm on the fence, but leaning against the purchase.

Although the ability to vote for maps has been a wonderful feature in a lot of games (Halo, Call of Duty, Gears of War are all great examples) that give the players the choice of which maps to choose, I kind of wonder if it actually limits variety & becomes a big "f* you!" to the game developers. Sure, you have choice in which maps to choose, but only if you have the majority of the vote to go with it - this means the whole thing boils down to a popularity vote or whichever maps are easiest to play on or take advantage of... While the rest of the game's maps are left on the side of the curb. Sure the choice lets developers know which maps are preferred by the community (& could even influence future map design), but those same developers put a lot of hard work into ALL of the maps, not just a few. Personally, I kind of like the idea of removing the ability to vote. It forces players to appreciate all the maps & become even more skilled than they otherwise would be in a variety of different environments & situations rather than just 1 or 2... At the very least, there should be an optional playlist that included everything (6v6 random maps & gametypes) where voting is not allowed. I'd play that playlist just for the sake of variety. Sure you may not always get what you want, but that's what helps people grow stronger, wiser, & adapt. So go ahead, take a slice out of life - it might taste great or terrible, but at least you'll have the experience!

I agree that being able to vote for a map is bad. I don't mind voting to skip once and being stuck with the next one, but you'd need a strong incentive to stop people backing out to find another lobby.

  • Several games, Halo among them, have these system that penalizes ragequitters. On CoD, they could substract a substantial amount of XP or ban then from online play for 10 minutes.

I know Uncharted did this and it really worked.

It wouldn't be rage quitting though, people would simply back out of the lobby as soon as a map they didn't want was locked in.

This is an atrocious idea and would NEVER work for a couple of reasons.

1: Activision wont allow it. Activision couldn't care less about the integrity of the game or competitive balance. They only care about the bottom line, which is why cod is made solely for casual gamers now and this would turn them off and cost Activision millions.

    2. Cod is too big for this type of thing to work. People leave games for a number of reasons and there's no way to dictect which reason they left. I've "rage quit" because of crappy random teammates because they wouldn't play the objective; I've rage quit because I didn't feel like dealing w/ boosters; I've rage quit because too many people were camping (sorry, when there's 5 mins left in Killcon and neither team has 25 pts, I'm going to get bored and leave); I've rage quit because I lagged too much. I've also "rage quit" because real life beckoned (something a lot of cod players are hilariously unfamiliar with). So I should be punished because Cod refuses to implement some sort of skill-based matchmaking or give us dedis? I'm sorry, but *** that!

That was my thought when I got it. Then I found out that  none of my friends got it and don't even want the collections. Personally even if I do get BLKOPS2, I will certainly not get ELITE. I see it as just another way that Activision is milking this cash cow for every bit on $ that they can before the whole franchise goes down the crapper. If players feel they got a good deal for thier money, great. Me, I think its a rip off and I wont be making that mistake again. Well thats what I get for buying stuff sight unseen.

Stupidest thing I ever heard. Really I back out of games when I am put in a map I dont want to play. Bad enough I have to take a loss for it, now I should also be further penalized? On second thought I hope they do this. It would make the decsion to buy another COD game easy, I wont. And personaly I couldnt give a llama's nipple about what they do on HALO. Hate the sci-fi games.

  • Halo punishes players who leave because once they leave, nobody comes in to take their spot. In CoD however, people get dropped into games that are already in progress provided there's room for them, so leaving the game isn't so severe in that case.

I fail to see how this would affect Activision's bottom line. Care to elaborate more on that subject?

Why would casual gamers (who only play a couple hours a week tops) pay $60 for the game and possibly another $50 for Elite if they run the risk of getting 10 minute bans for rage quitting? If people only have a limited amount of time to play, they're not going to want to spend it being banned.

I'm sure this is where you'll tell me that the ban will make them not want to rage quit, but I'd counter that by saying they're not going to stop raging, they're going to stop buying the game...

Except that there's nothing quite like CoD on the market. What other game offers arcade-style gameplay? Sales will still come in - with or without temp online bans.
