  • I found some checkered duck tape laying around my house and decided to get a little creative with it. I covered my xbox controller with it( not all of it, just in certain spots to make it look awesome) and discovered something. I put so duck tape on the triggers and it stopped it from going in( DUH!). But that gave me an idea. I put just enough type ti make the triggers stop going in just as a bullet was fired on mw3. This allows me to fire semi auto weapons at a rate faster then most rapid fire modders. Is this considered cheating?

  • You modified, albeit in a Stone Age technology kind of way, your standard issue equipment.  SOunds like cheating to me.  Also sounds like you had waay to much time on your hands lol.

No time for that.  There are still guns out there that dont perform exactly like every other guns.  We cant be bothered with such moot details as long as the game is still  plagued with diversity. --- Tired old Guy.

  • You should feel like a cheater. Now go to the corner and duct tape yourself there.

He just told on himself. Ban?

  • I haven't killed anyone with it. I posted a video of me shooting the wall and a picture of a controller with duct tape on it, what did I do wrong? Obviously am unsure as to weather this is cheating or not, so before I use it I am getting an answer.

  • I've actually wondered about this myself; I've seen controllers you can buy that have physical trigger stops, much like what the OP is talking about & I've always wondered if that could get you banned.

When the enforcement team checks to see if a player was using a modded controller, can they only "detect" a modded controller through it's virtual design aspects (programmable rapid fire, for example) rather than purely physical ones (like the OP's duct-tape example)? Or can they ban players based on gameplay elements like the above clip shows? Or perhaps a combination of all of the above?

I'd never do it personally, because I'm a big proponent of playing fair, but I'd still like to know...

You just modified your control. Thats cheating lol

  • It's like knowing the sear reset on any semi auto firearm. Once it fires, you don't have to release the trigger all the way, just until it clicks/resets, then you can fire again.  Using tape to accomplish what a little training and practice can accomplish... not cheating, maybe lazy?

No idea, but I'm not either.

    .

And it sounds like what Darcmyk said to me... it's not reeeaaally cheating, but it is a little dubious and perfectly possible to achieve otherwise.

  • @Fourth: I gotta admit, .50 Barrett full auto is pretty cool to watch.  I noticed you got the kick controlled by firing short bursts.  If you used it on me in a game, I couldn't complain, because I'm an "all's fair in love and war" kinda guy.  But I don't make the rules, and some people would hate you with a passion so great... (shudder).

  • According to @candyslexia  It is technically a mod. I preferred using ak47 and fad anyways. Also, I really need to proof read more often. That first post has all types of grammar errors.

  • Ehh. This is iffy. It's not something that you'd get banned for (at least not from Modern Warfare 3), but I would advise against using it.

Which button serves as the triggers on the drum kit?

  • That video is sort of sad ... i can shoot faster than that without any modification at all.

    .

I actually had a clan message me that they were reporting me because I was a hacker. Lol.

I get people who do that all the time, but because of my 1000 Headshot title. I did, however, amazing though it may be, have some moron tell me I hacked my 20th Prestige :P

  •   I get accused of using a modded controller quite frequently, and thats intersting actually, because even though the picture I have above is meant as a joke, its not really all that funny since all the thought into it was due to actual need. My fingers dont work well anymore. I cant grip anything small ( good thing I'm married ), my fingers usually wont bend all the way, and when they do, some of them get stuck there and wont straighten.

Not long ago I was fishing and the first cast I threw my pole in the water .......... first time ever in 47 years, I frequently have cups and such just fall out of my hands. When I'm driving I have to switch hands every couple minutes because of cramping, and the backspace button is the most used button on my keyboard since I cant seem to hit one key at a time.

Now I'm not saying all that to complain, but I want to make a point about something. I attribute my ability to fire fast to my hands not working well. I seriously think most people's problems trying to fire quickly is because they fire too fast. If you fire too fast you hit the rate cap on most weapons and throw the whole timing off. I very seldom can hit the rate cap but my quickest feathering of the trigger seems to hit just under it.

Soooo ........ I guess my suggestion for anyone who wants to rapid fire like the best of them ....... start carrying things with your fingers hooked that are too heavy to really carry at all, smash your hands with a hammer a few times ........ maybe even punch a few walls or something, and maybe 15 years or so down the road you can  imitate a modded controller like me.

  • The bass pedal is the trigger button, I believe.  But you can change the controller layout to actually play with it. It's pretty interesting.

  • So I've seen some guy putting a circle of duct tape on their tv screen to use as a site. Though I don't see your el-cheapo controller mod as cheating
