  • Not really, but for a long time Ive been thinking of the perfect Batman game specially after Arkham Asylum came out and I played it (I haven't played AC yet).

    • I wanna see a Batman game set in the whole open world of Gotham City, all the locations from the comics, Wayne Tower, the Narrows, Wayne Manor, Crime Alley, etc.
    • I wanna go there by gliding from rooftop to rooftop or just riding on the Batmobile while Im chased by Joker's goons on bikes.
    • I wanna fight the corrupt police force like in Batman Year One.
    • I wanna see how Batman's actions fuel the insane criminals in Gotham city and how it has an effect on the people.
    • I wanna go back to Wayne Manor to rest, upgrade weapons and gadgets, train Bruce and plan out my next missions.
    • I wanna be Gotham's Dark Knight.

Now its your turn, what do you think?

  • Sounds good to me. Arkham City was a city was a great game, and while many people were happy that it was a larger world than Arkham Asylum, it was actually pretty tiny compared to a game like Grand Theft Auto. A city that size and the addition of a drivable batmoble and batwing would be amazing.

  • Yep, the only thing I have trouble figuring out is, if its in an open world with night/day cycles, what would you do in the morning? I guess you could restrict players to stay in Wayne Manor during the day until night or something, because otherwise what would you do in daylight through the city?

  • Give the player the option to play as Bruce during the day, but if they decide not to, then they could automatically skip to night for some missions as Bats.

  • ^That works but again, what would you do on the day besides training and spending your time in Wayne manor?

They could do something like they did with Assassin's Creed, where you play as Desmond for just a bit on a fixed location, maybe that is a good solution.

  • While playing as Bruce they could put in a business lite sim in it. Putting out new products, taking over rival companies, just controlling the business would be cool. And through those contacts and new business acquired Batman can have access to new weapons and gadgets.

  • Sounds interesting. What I was wondering though is this. Are future batman or DC games in general going to be based off the new 52?

In Arkham Asylum (havent played City yet) bats talks to Oracle (Barbara Gordon) Well now in the relaunch She is still Batgirl because her spine injury wasnt permanent in this new reboot. I just wonder if they will start making games based on the new DC world.

  • Me. It be called Arkham knights. And you need to add JLA to the mix as well.

  • Law you know in real life. Get shot in the spaine is forever until they find a qay to repaier it.

  • Well my idea is set up in a Batman only timeline (no Robin, Oracle/Batgirl, Nightwing), kind of like Year One where hes just returned to Gotham after years of going around the world learning and accepting his mission. This is the perfect time because the police are corrupt and he not only has to fight them but also the criminals.

Also since this is a very young Batman, players would see the rise of the rogue's gallery and how Batman has had an effect on them.

Players would earn experience from doing missions and fighting enemies which would allow them to upgrade the Batmobile, gadgets and earn new combat moves.

  • First off, I hate you for making me think they announced a new Batman game :P Apart from that, it sounds good, although they may want to distance themselves from the Batman:Gotham Knight animated movie, that was horrible, unfortunately.

  • I feel like I just got Rick Rolled. A good idea though, and just because it's day time doesn't mean Bruce doesn't make appearances as Batman. Although someone once said that Batman is who he is and Bruce is just his disguise. But daytime could also lead to more stealth based missions such as Batman donning one of his dozens of disguises and sneaking into areas to investigate things before coming back as Batman and breaking heads.  There could also be coporate/social activities kind of like with Saints Row. Except less debaucherous.

  • Yea, the title is a bluff grrr...but there is no surprise if the next game is in Gotham City because that's really the next step to take or like Batman Beyond . If you play as Catwoman you can escape to Gotham city and the devs  already mentioned that are thinking about it.

May the games be with you!

  • I've been dooped by title.

    You best not assert disingenuously.

  • Level: 5
  • That sounds like a good idea.  I liked how Arkham City had a bigger area to play around in, but by the end of the game you see how small it really is when compared to the likes of GTA and other open world games.  Being able to actually drive the Batmobile and go into different areas would rule.

  • I think that is naturally the path this series is on. First was a small island then there was a city section. Next has to be the entire Gotham City. I hope they don't sacrifice anything for it though. I love the way these past Batman games have looked and played and it would be a shame to degrade them for a bigger area. Maybe a multi-disc type deal to keep the game as good looking as the first two?

  • ^While I loved AA, I personally didn't like the look of Batman or his enemies, they all look like plasticine models and giant musclemen right out of Gears of War. Gordon specially looked like a 60 year old body builder.

  • I like the idea from Nameloi.

I've played Arkham Asylum and I really liked that game. IMO it has one of the best stories in the Xbox360 game-history.

With your ideas this will be probally the best Batman, and based on a comic, game ever.

  • I think a drivable Batmobile is a must, as the only vehicle in AC was a cameo by the Batwing.  It would be cool to see this universe's versions of the lesser villains, such as Ventriloquist, Killer Moth, Firefly, Catman.  And, imagine a boss fight against Man-Bat, in the style of the end sequence of "On Leather Wings."

Meanwhile - Nameloi, I agree to a large extent to your comments.  I don't like it when Batman looks too techy.  The more he does (The Dark Knight is especially guilty of this) the more obvious he's just a bloke in a suit.  The more simple the costume, the more extraordinary his exploits appear to his enemies.  By having material COVERING the armour, they'll be more amazed when he shrugs off bullets.  Also (like the comics), the Powers That Be need to decide if his suit is black or dark blue.

  • FYI the new 52 has not debunked her as Oracle...Just before Flashpoint there was a story in Bird of Prey that was the Death of Oracle...Babs basically sidelined herself and gave the job of Oracle to Wendy Mertz (aka Firewall).

  • Superman! Initially you start off with all of his super powers. Superman is then tricked into going in a location loaded with kryptonite. Lex Luthur surgically insert a device inside Superman that controls a dosage of kryptonite inside his body remotely that keeps many of his powers at bay. Through the course of the game, it wears off more and more, bringing his powers back.

  • How would you do it then?

  • Well if we are going the proposed Supes route...Supes main weaknesses are Krytonite and Magic...Lex is a very played out villian (IMO) and not too fun in a game setting unless he had a Hugo Stragne type role but even then it wouldnt seem like a challenge...Id say bring in Mr. Myxlpleck...Have Supes bounce into Bizzarro World or hell even Apocolips...Supes is a very hard egg to crack because of his powers...the progression system worked with Batman because you upgraded his tech. with someone like supes you want to burn a hole through the wall and fly through it but there will be limits and i think thats where we loose with a supes game becasue when you are zip lining with batman and hit a building Batman is gonna bounce off but if you are supersonic with Supes and hit a building the building is gonna go and in a video game they aretn going to let that happen

  • Superman would be very hard to pull off, as I had said in another forum, he's such an infallible individual- but I think RockSteady could do it. Both Keystone and Metropolis are mentioned in the game; I am just really curious as to whether or not they might go along with a different hero after this most recent game.

Sorry about your head... I was aiming for Tanley.

  • I think i have said this somewhere as well...If they went to Star City with Green Arrow they can do most of the same progression as they did with Bats...Ollies weapons can be upgraded the same way, he is a brawler, there are many similarites but also TONS of differances.  Keystone will be hard as well because Flash just runs...he has no other weapons or gadgets plus there would be no rooftop needs

  • Now something else to think about is Nightwing...Have Nightwing go to Bludhaven and go toe to toe with Blockbuster. *** has his fair share of rogues to go through as well

  • Those are some good ideas Nameloi. I have a feeling the next game will be 2 disc long.

    Chivalry is not dead.

  • what i would like in the sequel would be online co-op. one player is bats with the other nightwing or catwoman. they made it work in crackdown so why not a superhero game. a marvel team up with spidey and daredevil would be my dream game.

the batmoblie should definetly make an appearence in the next game. id choose the one from the first batman with Keaton, so when i get out i could hit a button and it would armour up.  after the last two batman games and the wolverine game, its time somebody made a good spider-man game. free-roam nyc with the web swinging controls from spider-man 2. the last two spider-man games were awful

    i like 2 kill
