  • For those of you who don't check the ME3 forum-

    http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/343/index/9992705

    ~~~
    Operation
    Goliath
    Citadel Allied Command is mounting a galaxy-wide
    operation to cripple the Reapers’ shock troops: the turian-krogan hybrids known
    as “brutes.” To flush out Reaper ground forces, N7 teams are deploying to engage
    the enemy in key theaters. Heavy reinforcements are expected anywhere fighting
    begins.
    .
    Community Goal: Inflict
    heavy casualties on Reaper “brutes” on March 16th, 17th, and 18th.
    .
    Community Unlock: If this goal is met, all N7
    squads will be awarded a Victory Pack that can be unlocked the following
    week.
    .
    Squad Goal: Successful
    extraction from a Reaper-held zone at a Silver threat level or
    higher.
    .
    Squad Unlock: Your squad
    will be granted a Commendation Pack.
    .
    Your allies are counting on you. Now
    is not the time to let them down.
    .
    .
    .
    Welcome to the first N7 Challenge
    weekend!
    .
    Join your friends on line between 5 PM PST Friday, March
    16 and 5 AM PST Monday, March 19, and take the fight to the Reapers like never
    before.
    .
    • Any player who is part of a squad that beats the Reaper
      faction on Silver difficulty or better will unlock one Commendation Pack.  This
      means that at least one member of the squad must be extracted at the end of the
      mission – this will earn all squad members the reward. Each player can earn a
      maximum of one pack, and each pack contains a random N7 Arsenal Weapon.
      Originally only available as single-player weapons via the N7 Collector’s
      Edition, these multiplayer variants will be exceptionally rare and are NOT
      obtainable through regular purchasable Reinforcement Packs.   The Commendation
      Packs will contain one of the following guns at random: N7 Crusader Shotgun, N7
      Eagle Pistol, N7 Hurricane SMG, and N7 Valiant Sniper Rifle.
    • Destroy as many brutes as possible – if the multiplayer
      community kills a combined 1 MILLION brutes within the hours of the challenge,
      ALL players will receive a Victory Pack as a reward.
      .
    PLEASE
    NOTE THAT REWARDS WILL UNLOCK ON TUESDAY, MARCH 20 @ 5 PM PST. YOU MUST REDEEM
    (OPEN) YOUR PACKS IN THE MULTIPLAYER STORE MENU WITHIN 7 DAYS, AT WHICH POINT
    THE PACKS WILL EXPIRE AND CANNOT BE RESTORED.
    .
    @MODS- I'm aware that this could be moved to the Mass Effect forum. Please don't do that though. The entire point of posting this here is so the general population knows about it, not everyone checks the game specific forums. This event needs the community to work together, it's very helpful if more people know about it. Thanks.
  • I want those N7 guns I have a few of them already but none of those on that list.
  • Level: 7
  • I already did it. Reapers are the most frustrating enemy in MP. Especially on silver or higher when they spam brutes and banshees at you. Definitely need a strong team if you are going to attempt it.
    Um, no. I'll be getting the commendation pack regardless if no brutes are killed because we extracted from reaper controlled territory on silver difficulty. Besides, even if there was no special challenge going on, I'm likely going to be killing brutes all weekend.
  • I posted in this thread, but it got deleted. I wonder if someone who works for Bioware is a Mod here?
    Anyway the whole thing is a ploy to distract people from the horrible ending that is the worst in video game history. because if everyone is suckered into trying to kill 1,000,000 brutes they won't be on the BSN forums posting another 30-40k posts about how Bioware falsely advertised the game and lied.
    The two goals are separate. Those who complete a Silver game with the Reapers will gain the Commendation pack, provided at least one player was extracted. Should the community reach 1-million kills then you'll also get the other pack on Tuesday.
    I don't think so. Just trying to get people on board with the MP so people will actually want to buy map packs in the future.
    Though the ending is awful. Like, incredibly bad. I haven't seen so many people equally hate something like this so much all at once. Yet Bioware will try and spin it in their favour one way or another.
    I have heard the ending is poor and I have heard what it is, but I sense there's a lot of misguided rage. I would like to know how the game goes EXACTLY (which I can only do by playing it).
    If I could have my wasted days back, would I use them to get back on track...?
    Keep searching... keep on searching.
    I can't say much without spoiling it. All I'll say is the game is great right up to the ending which drops everything that makes Mass Effect great and does exactly what Bioware said they would never do. It's bad on a whole new scale of bad.
    -
    At which point ruins the whole thing for me.
    It's like finding a layer of dog crap at the bottom of a triple-layer chocolate cake. Sure, the cake was nice before you knew about that crap, but once you know, it ruins the whole thing.
    I played ME1 and 2 at least 3 times each. I have no interest in playing 3 again. It just left a pretty bad aftertaste.
    It probably got deleted because it's offtopic. It's also pure speculation. Go make your own topic if you wanna discuss conspiracy theories.
  • Question: Do the million brutes need to be killed on silver or higher difficulty? Or does bronze count towards the goal as well?
    Panic Ensues: Sword Style Returns
  • From what I read they can be killed on any difficulty. I've been burning bronze matches to help out, lots of fun. Silver and higher is not fun with Reapers. I suspect they made this Reaper specific because people were avoiding them the most, understandably.
    The Banshees in Silver or Gold are way overpowered. Wouldn't be a problem if they were balanced out.
  • Banshees on insane are way overpowered too. If they didn't have the instajib attack then they would be more balanced. And it's not like they just knock you down in the MP, they kill you outright. No other boss level creature in the MP does that.
  • What bothers me the most is the lag when they grab you. Unless it's supposed to pull you back a foot or two? I've been caught running away way too many times.
    .
    I played a game earlier with a dude who kept doing that rush move right at Banshees. Guess what? He died.
    Aye, I've been grabbed from a foot or two on the way past before. It could simply be a minor animation glitch where the grab animation is activated but doesn't take effect for a split second, resulting in your character continuing to move. Or, maybe the Banshee is doing some sort of Biotic grab :D
    -----------
    I assume you mean a Biotic Charge? Biotic Charging is a decent tactic to finish off a Banshee, but you've got to roll out backwards as soon as you impact to avoid the grab, or hit her when she's in the middle of a scream.  Again, death by Biotic Charge is a case of Vanguards not quite grasping how to correctly use the power.
  • The people I've encountered just run around using it over and over until they get knocked down in a bad spot, forcing other people to rescue them. The guy fighting the banshee wasn't waiting for any help, he just went after it like he was trying to make sure only he got points for killing it.
  • I think I've personally downed a hundred brutes for the community goal. That silver challenge was brutal though. I think they threw about a dozen Banshees at us. I wonder if the goal will actually be hit, with all the people who sit in Silver/Gold lobbies as Quarian Infiltrators only playing against the Geth.
    They are fine they way they are, it wouldn't be a challenge if they are nerfed or so called "balanced out".
    Once the barriers are striped, incinerate, warp+throw. any other combos that cause a  biotic destruction will make light work of armor.
    I guess this wasn't very clear. The purpose of this thread was to make the general community aware, not the just the die hard Mass Effect fans who check game specific forums. The mods here are a joke. This is what happens when you take someone with a low level of intelligence and give him what he believes is authority.
  • Well at least they left it up for a couple days. Oddly enough the first post got rated down at least twice once it got moved here. What an awesome community we got going here, all I did was post this in the general section to help out.
  • Don't judge the whole community by the one or two who rate your post down just because you beat them to the punch UnyoBro, it's just sour grapes from the many times that you've exposed them with their pants around their ankles and it's just another avenue for them to vent out their little pouting episode, take the one stars as a compliment, when YOU post, THEY read...:-)
    It's pretty self-explanatory. If someone reports a post to be moved to the respective forum or a moderator deems it necessary to move it, since after all this thread is about a Mass Effect 3 specific event and nothing else, then yes obviously that request will be fulfilled.
    I don't really see how lashing out, saying they're a joke just because they moved this thread to the forum that in all intents and purposes should be in regardless of the goal of exposure, solves anything.
    Just my .02, take it or leave it.
    If people were interested in this event then they're going to find information on it regardless of where it's at.
    Sure I think extra exposure that could be gained from the general discussion forum could've been nice, don't get me wrong I appreciate Unyo for doing so at first. But people already take the time to sign in and go to their respective forums anyways, so if they want to know all about Mass Effect 3 and in particular this event, then they can easily take the time to navigate to this forum if they wanted to as it's not as if this forum is hidden; it's public.
    Played a quick match on Bronze this morning. It's too easy now after all of the Silver matches.
  • The Bronze matches come in handy for a warm-up match to find your groove, also to try out a new character/weapon and should you be running low on supplies/credits it helps out to give yourself a little boost, but it's really not much of a challenge after playing Silver regularly...:-)
  • I hope we made it. I love how the multiplayer is, its great fun. Now in the Campaign I like it up towards the end, I havent finished my second playthrough yet. But so far I dont really like how it currently ends. I do love how they blended the two games (Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2) together and sprankled parts of the novels on top to make ME3. I love the game
