  • Silver mode is the most annoying thing ever.

I thought Bronze was bad at times but Silver is a whole new level.

Was playing on "mission control place" (Firebase White I think) today and it was super frustrating.  Half the Geth army spawned right behind me because my team mates were all lone wolfing in different areas of the map whilst I was trying to hold on to the 'best' spot on the map (the area where you spawn that gives you overwatch on three routes).

We all died on Wave 4.

Then there was another game on BRONE where two guys were on the other side of the map...on Wave 11!  Guess what happens?  They get downed with 10 seconds on the clock and only two people get out.

  • Had a game yesterday, where one member (similar to the previous poster's name but with a J instead of VIII at the end) just stood there in a little alcove for the entire match.  As soon as we were back into lobby - 3 kicks immediately appeared in his box.

  • It's pretty bad if you're in a team that can't finish Bronze. One of the hugest issues in playing in random matchmade game is that your team is usually separated between those that aren't really good to begin with and those that care so much about score that they have really poor attitudes when some one "takes their kill." Not enough people that just want it to be successful. No joke, I had to plug in my mic and tell this one guy to stop *** because he was upset that people were killing his targets, calling them all shorts of names and screaming profane words at them.

    |

Even down to bronze, it's easy to upset them. For me, especially running around with a level 17 Asari Adept so I play very aggressively. Because of this, the guy with the sniper rifle and a second place score to mine up and quit. It's hard to tell them that the score is as pointless to the game as the current ending.

I ask myself the same thing when I'm on a team who fails Wave 10 on Bronze.

    "How did this happen?"

I mean, Bronze is a doddle.  Getting a few unlucky downs is acceptable, but how the hell do you fail the mission on the last big wave?  I just don't get it.  I'm no where near the top players on a mission, I'm usually 4th but I stick close to the group and do what needs doing.

To be honest, I think Bronze has too many try-hards.  Because the mode is easier than Silver/Gold people think they can do what they like.  Which to a degree they can.  But that shouldn't mean literally going off on your owne because you havve a maxed out Geth shotgun and think you're 1337 and don't need anyone else.

I don't mean to sound racist but that seems to be the way most Krogan play, from my experience.

It's all about the M-98 Widow!

But seriously, I've never seen a Black Widow in MP and I always check what weapons everyone is using.  You don't need more than one guy with a Widow for example.

  • Oh yeah, Widow, that's what I meant. Interesting note, I've yet to find a Widow, but I got a Black Window collecting dust from a spectre pact I got. Not really big on snipers ever since pistols and assault rifles got scopes. Plus the weight issue. I saw on guy running around with a Paladin which made me instant jealous.

I haven't had much luck with pistols in any pack.  I still only have a Predator III and a Phalanax II.  Or SMGs for that matter (Shuriken VII, Tempest I).

  • I don't have much luck with character cards either.  The only "full sets" I have are Salarian Engineer and Asari Vanguard and I don't play Vanguard.  I want a Quarian Inflitrator/Engineer set most of all but I still only have the default slots.

  • @PeteRock24:

While I'll agree that playing on silver & gold you need to communicate, 98-99% of the silver and bronze games I've played no one uses their mic. Plus, when you quickmatch, you're dealing with all sorts of different ppl and some don't play well with others. Another thing that I hate about the communication issue, some ppl that use their mics talk about things like,  "Hey guys, did you know Batman is real?" [Raise your voice an octave and add a lisp when you say the last part] LOL!

  • Level: 5
  • I'm guilty unless I'm playing with friends, I don't use a mic (with the exception of gold). Also, most of the time I find that those who do quckly need to be muted.

  • There was this one time, when i first set-up my Soldier class, where i failed wave 1 one bronze and everyone else was a goddamn Vanguard.

Now you know why i hate them mother fu**ers.

But since then, i've improved, and i can now do Silver 90.5% of the time.

  • Like I promised Arkham99, I'd post in this thread when I encountered some 'idiots'. Well... I ran into a whole HEAP of the idiots last night.

    .

First match, I was my 19 Engineer (With Avenger VI and Stability upgrade IV and Phalanx I with Scope V) and the second match I was in, was where the Idiots started to appear. A Krogan Soldier and two Human Vanguards. Need I say anything else? hmm.. ok, I will. The player who was the Krogan, kept shouting over the headset "I AM KROGAN!!" and was running meleeing everything around him. Yes, when he killed a Brute or Banshee he did Grunt's "Hah, hah, hah". The two Vanguards... Biotic Charge + Nova, repeat ad nauseum. I only stayed as I had managed to kill two Banshees and three Brutes (Spread over the match) and when I join a party, I stay with it until the mission ends, then maybe leave the lobby depending on how the mission went. Unfortunately we didn't get FULL Extraction... as the Krogan was meleeing a Brute and the two Vanguards were on the far side of the map. Suffice to say, I was miffed.

    .

I can fully understand why some people hate Vanguards... as another match I was in, in the lobby the setup sounding ok: 15 Asari Adept, 18 Quarian Infiltrator, 13 Human Soldier and my 19 Human Engineer. As I do before any match starts, I was looking over the weapon loadout for the other three, when they changed. I shrugged and just gave their new weapon loadouts a once over, then the match started. How I wish I had've checked their new classes... as when we appeared in Firebase Dagger, there was my 19 Engineer... with three Human Vanguards all under 10. Can you guess what their method of attack was? If you guessed Biotic Charge + Nova, have a cookie, cause you guessed correctly! We didn't even get past Wave 4 before mission failure came on the screen... and then, to hear the three of the twits abusing myself and saying it was because I was a 'noob and pathetic Engineer who can't so sh*t' that was why we failed.

    .

Lastly... about 2 hours after the above incident, I was in my last match of the night as my level 10 Soldier (I had the same weapon loadout as my Engineer... guess I've gotten comfortable with the Avenger and Phalanx), and things went ok... until the Salarian Engineer kept jumping in my line of fire and the Asari Adept kept trying to melee/shoot me (when she was idle between waves, she was constantly firing her Shuriken at anything around her). The Turian Soldier and myself stuck together and managed to take down quite a few enemies, despite the other two being complete idiots.

    .

I have a feeling that by the time this Operation Beach Head ends, I'll inevitably encounter far more idiots... which makes me cringe and my stomach churn.

  • I hear ya Deaths Head, I just had a real big idiot in my game. This guy joined with a pretty high level soldier and had an N7 ranking higher then any I had seen (650+). First, the guy wouldn't ready up so we could start, so we started the kick vote. Before he got the 3rd vote he hit ready, so I quickly retracted mine so he didn't get kicked. Big.. mistake.

When the game started, the guy just stood there at the spawn point. Not for one round, but for the entire match. He didn't move a muscle, just stood there while the other 3 of us took on 10 waves of Reapers and extracted. Once done, he got 1/4 of our XP and Credits from doing absolutely nothing. As soon as the game went back to the lobby, he redied up right away for another wave of free XP and Credits. Needless to say, I wasn't doing that again.. what a douce clown.

On another note Deaths Head, one of these days we can hopefully get in the same game. I joined that one with you today but the lag was un-friggin-real. I was just lag jumping all over the screen, then I was dead. I'll keep an eye out when I see you online and see if I can join one of your games. Everytime I invite you to a game it fills up before you can join. lol

  • Some people in this game are brain dead.

I was playing Firebase Ghost (da ghetto place bruh) on Silver with the Geth.  We got to Wave 10 and the objective was to hack the terminal.  Problem was that 2 Geth Hunters and a Pyro had spawned in the building with the terminal.  I got downed by the Pyro because I was a Turian Sentinel and couldn't roll out the way.

Two other team mates got downed and the last one seemed to be busy trying to melee the Geth from cover.  He was a Quarian Engineer/Inflitrator and seemed to forget that he had a sentry turrent wheich he could deploy or he could have Sabotaged one of the Geth in the room to give him some breathing space whilst he finished the hack.

He got toasted by a Pyro and we failed.

In fact, I've played a handful if SIlver games today and I've only been successful twice because of similar failings on Wave 10.  Ironically, one game was also on Ghost against the Geth and there were three Krogans on the team and my Quarian Engineer.

I've noticed this pattern as well, It seems Krogan and vanguard players have come to realise they are not welcome in games. I will enter a lobby and It will be a nice mix of soldiers, Infiltrators and engineers, I will ready up, There will be a short delay before the others ready up but they will change their character at the last second to Krogan or Vanguard. I have managed to bail a couple of times before the match started. But there have a been a couple of times I have ended up being in a  room with a couple of vanguards who were not in the lobby when I joined, Once they start the annoying superman Dance, I just find a nice spot and kill anything that comes near me and look after the objectives, I don't waste medigel or rockets on anything. I have only seen one team of 3 vanguards make it to extraction every other team dies between 7 and 9.

  • I haven't ever been kicked for being too high a level (450 and counting), nor for scoring the highest.  As for resetting, that all depends on the difficulty.

If we are in Gold and you reset a 20 to a 1 and try to play, you best bet I will press that kick button.

  • Level: 5
  • I can understand being wary of Vanguard players since the class is designed to be the opposite of team work, for the most part. Bailing because someone is a Krogan is just silly. I've played with lots of great Krogan players. Sure you'll encounter some who run out trying to melee but from my experience it's not anywhere near vanguard players.

Take a deep breath. Hold it. Let it out.

  • Level: 5
  • I don't mind playing with Vanguards or Krogans at any level as long as they help out with the objectives, and I don't have to spend half the match reviving them.

This works out about 50% of the time. That percentage should be higher. Then again, I've seen knuckleheads in other classes as well, but not as frequent.

  • Level: 4
  • On the contrary, the few times I've used Vanguards, only enough to level them up to 20 twice, I've found biotic charge is a very useful team tool.  Charge, destroy, revive.

Wow.. I can't believe I didn't even think of that. Don't I feel like an idiot now?  lol

On topic though.. after this discussion I tried to give Vanguards a chance, and I found ONE out of about 100 that wasn't a total drain on the rest of the party. I also found they are the players most likely to quit mid match if things aren't going their way.

As for Krogans, I have a totally different view on them.. I enjoy playing with Krogans. Most of them run forward too, but they are actually equipped to handle it. I have been in many games where the Krogan will keep everyone busy while the rest of us pick off the distracted enemies. Most of them I have played with stay in view of the party at least, so you can work with them. Yes, occasionally you get a bad one, but it's like that with every class.

I just wish people would stop quitting in the middle of a game. It is possible however, that they're just being disconnected from the EA server.

  • Level: 1
  • this is kind of off topic but there was another thread somewhere someone created looking for "mature" players and i couldn't find it so I thought I'd ask here. I'm tired of playing with random people online who don't know what they're doing, rage quitting when they get downed by running head first into a group of pyros, get downed, and get angry because they don't get revived in time. anyway, i'm looking for other people to play co op with. this isn't my regular gamer tag so send a private message if interested and I'll send it.

I can usually work with lower level people though. Like level 10ish. You just need to keep people alive so the fight can continue for everyone. If you encourage good teamwork and getting people up then others will follow suit. Its easy to win if everyone backs each other up.
