Skyrim getting boring?

  • I don't know if it's just me but for some reason I am now bored of this game. Everything is just so simple now. My weapons can kill enemies in about one hit (I can kill a dragon in about 8 hits). I am at the point where I am begging to meet an Ancient Dragon for crying out loud. My armor gives me over 200 points of protection so I never worry about dying. And I am just so rich, that I am just buying everything I want. And if I buy something super expensive, I always find some crazy loot and sell that and I am rich again. When I first started the game I ran all around the map discovering locations. Then after I explored enough of the holds, I did some side quest. And after I completed a majority of the side quest I went to the Main questline and stopped at about the mid-point of it. So I am back to side quest and most of them are just helping Daedric Princes bother people. Not to mention that a quarter of the side quest I have activated are bugged and I cannot complete. I have plenty of Misc. Objectives, but most of them are just simple things like find a book for this guy, or beat up this one jerk. I am only a level 36 to and I am already feeling like an almighty god like in Fallout 3. I have been playing this game for a long while now. I think I may have drained myself out on this game. What exactly should I do to keep me occupied and have some fun?

  • maybe play a diff. game for a bit, up the difficulty(unless your at the highest setting), other than that im pretty novice in the game so far so i have polenty to do... heck maybe start a new character.

    authority and I aren't that closely acquainted anyway.....guys like you typically don't like guys like me.            {II PARALLAX II}

  • Yeah I will probably raise the difficulty. I have kept it on Adept just to keep a nice normal average tone in the game. But I guess Gods like me need a challenge.

    You best not assert disingenuously.

  • with heavy armour my lvl 36 warrior has like 400+ defense, had to up the difficulty as well, although thats the nature of the warrior class, try a mage out, robes have 0 protection, there are spells/perks like mage armour that helps but will never match armour, i don't think, especially not upgraded with 100 smithing. playing a mage/thief is a different game. try to play a thief and sneak around everywhere and try to beat dungeons without being detected, using bow/daggers. warriors will always get boring when you just run in and destroy everything.

  • Very odd that your armor is only over 200 yet you don't seem to be endangered by anything... It took me getting it up to around 400+ to finally be able to say almost nothing in the game hurts me. (Besides those damn Ancient Dragons and a few other enemies... How it doesn't almost wipe out all of your health is beyond me with a single blast of its shout, especially with that low of an armor rating)

    -

It's quite obvious what perks/skills are insanely overpowered when used together so. Don't use those. And that includes Conjuration (Not Necromancy though, just the Conjured Elementals/Dremora Lord), Smithing, Enchanting for starters.

    -

What I plan on doing to increase the difficulty myself for my next playthrough is to NEVER have a follower besides quest related ones, no looting enemies (Just chests), to avoid Smithing I'll never make anything and only purchase items, no potions EVER, only eat food to replenish stuff, etc. I'll keep it relatively simple so I don't forget them, but  it shouldn't be that hard. I also may only use items I get from enemies (Like use use, not just pick up to sell) and from other loot so I'm not able to get a god-tier weapon from a shop.

    -

Basically with games like this you have to rely on mods (for the PC, we don't get those) or implementing your own rules. It's how I had to play Fallout 3/New Vegas so.

    -

I'd say bump up the difficulty as it makes the enemies damage output much higher (I'm very skeptical about only 200 armor and nothing hurting you) and implementing your own specific rule set.

    -

It sucks, but games these days are just all catered towards the casual player with no challenge for anyone who's even halfway decent at a videogame. I'm going to finish out my current character with the main quest and get all of those insanely overpowered items and mess around with that save, but my next one will be MUCH more difficult.

    -

Or I may just repurchase the game for PC after some decent mods come out... They really can make the game 10 times better for the more "hardcore" type of players and make the game run much better as well.

    -

It all depends on if I decide to pick up a new PC when I get my Income Taxes!

Class 3, Bioshock: Infinite.  Best games I've seen in a long time.

  • I found myself in the creepy forest near Solitude, alone in the dark and it was raining to boot. The entire atmosphere had me smiling from ear to ear at how well done it all was but it was also scary as I couldn't see 10ft in front of me.

    -

I made my way up toward the near mountain plain and spotted a Dragon sitting on a bridge surrounded by fog. As a I moved closer, I realized that it was actually a statue on top of the bridge and I had just discovered the small town of Dragonbridge.

    -

The music changed and suddenly, all the feeling of dread I had only moments before while creeping through the forest in the rain had completely disappeared and was replaced by a feeling of safety and comfort so I made my way to the local pub to meet the locals.

    -

No, I'm not bored with Skyrim yet... not bored at all.

  • I honestly don't know why I am not taking any damage at all. I actually could be taking a lot of damage but I always have a healing spell in my left hand and a sword in my right hand. I heal a lot. Maybe I am not finding enough harder enemies.

I am an Level 36 Imperial. I am highly skilled in one handed and I use destruction (and restoration when I am in the heat of battle). One of my main skills is sneak. I haven't been so stealthy lately because I am just so thirsty for a huge fight. Ever since I started using smithing skill all of my weapons have turned super powerful. I still don't understand why I am not taking much damage. I am kind of a restoration freak if you wanna call it that.

I bumped up the difficulty to expert. Wolves can actually fight back now without be pimp slapping them off a cliff. But they're still weak. Either way, I am just working on smaller quest until I complete a majority of them and head back to the main questline.

To classify my character? I don't really know. I use all 3 types of classes (mage, warrior, sneak). I am mostly towards sneak though.

    You best not assert disingenuously.

  • To me, the actual Gameplay is secondary. The reason I love these games is because I can really craft a character. Have you made a role for your character? If not, I would suggest a second character with a role. They are really easy to make. You only need a few things.

    1. Backstory- Basically where they are from, and why they crossed the boarder. This can be really broad or very specific.

    2. Motive - Give your character a motive. Having a motive can help you in deciding what to do or not to do. If you complete your motive, think of another motive that fits with your character arc.

    3. Morality- Give you character a moral compass. They can be evil, good, neutral, or it might depend on the situation.

    .

If you make a role, the game seems fresh every time. And it makes multiple playthroughs more fun. I am the same level as you, and I still am having a ton of fun. I also have a second character going that is stealthy and 'darker' than my main character. I feel that I have made a sizable dent in this game, but am nowhere near finished.

  • I got tired of it aswell for a couple days. Started mining to upgrade my smithing, then seemed to get back on track.

So making guns illegal will take them off the street?

We should make meth and pot illegal too!

  • @Legion- Good :) My friends think I am weird for doing it, but you know what, it's a singe player game. If I want to say that my Wood Elf's village was killed by a Dragon while the Legion did nothing about it, and that the Wood Elf now wants to destroy the Empire, it's my right.

  • I've found myself bored at times.  Not because everything's so easy, etc, like you're saying, but just because the quests and stuff have seemed monotonous. (It really is the same thing over and over). That's when I back off a bit from the game. It really does help to put your imagination into it, too, instead of just playing a game. I try to do this as much as I can and it's made a huge difference.

  • OP , Thats happens when you buy a game that you are not really interested based on community hype or true  RPGs like Skyrim  are not for you. The game have a lot of thing to offer that i don't get how you can get bored.

May the games be with you!

  • I don't know what you're talking about, but RPGs are my favorite genre of games. I played the crap out of Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Fallout New Vegas, and Demon Souls. I also plan on buying Mass Effect 3 and and Dark Souls as well as any other Fallout game. Thats what happens when you make false accusations on others, motherlova.

then why dont you put her in charge?

  • With Sneak and Archery, nothing can stop me.  Most enemies go down in one hit.  Then when any survivors  run up to look for me, I hit them again.  Three times the damage off a Glass Bow and almost any arrow, they go down quick.  I am levle 40 doing the Thieves guild and and almost bored enough to start a new character without Alchemy and Sneak.

  • Level: 4
  • I am far from being bored with Skyrim. My Legion character is pimped out in Dwarven armor and I am slowly leveling up the heavy armor skill. I have 60 hours combined into two characters and after being away for three days for Thanksgiving, I'm ready to dive back in this game.

  • Level: 2
  • On my second toon I havent really used any perks, I think I am up to 9 total used and im almost level 45. Another thing is I have not yet even bothered to craft any gear or enchant any of it either. Once I find an armor type I allow myself to craft it, so right now I only go as high as Ebony.

Another thing I have been doing is going through each encounter differently, I am now a thf but I started off as a 2handed War, a few days ago I was a weak mage getting owned.

  • I finally got my "assassin" / thief build up to 100 in both Sneak and Pickpocket.  I play the same way I would a Splinter Cell game, and I have to say, dispatching a full dungeon of enemies without being seen, stripping them of weapons and armor BEFORE I slit their throat, just never gets old.  Each one is a different puzzle to be solved.  No boredom for me.

Once more unto the breach, dear friends. -Henry V

  • id love to get pickpocket to 100, heard someone saying they take of npcs clothes before robbing them...lmao

  • My 1st character was a strait up 2 hd warrior, 20 hours in (without reading into any guides) I had 100 smithing and enchanting, and the best armor and weapons in game (Deadric). All that and I didn't even do my 1st dragon quest in Whiterun. I put it on hard and the only time I got killed was when I didn't see em coming or fell off a cliff.  There are a few weapons and armor in the game that are "different" but not necessarily "better" because they have enchantments you can't learn.  I felt that every quest was a grind with no reward because I had all the money, weapons, and armor I needed. And lets face it, the character models and voice overs really are not the best, I give Bioware kudos for making npc interaction more fun than Bethesda does. After about 40hrs I restarted and made a mage, it has been a much more rewarding experience and I'm enjoying the game more.  However, because of glitches, I have stopped playing until the next patch comes out. Btw I but over 100 hrs into my mage.

  • If you are getting bored because you cant get hurt much then raise the difficulty, use weaker weapons, or use weaker armor.  The game gives you a ton of options to make it as easy or as hard as you want.

  • For  me my characters' back story is very important. I have a warrior Orc Named Metslain. Metslain will never admit it but he is in love with Lydia. Sometimes he will stand back and watch her tear through enemies just so he can look on her with admiration. Metslain strives to be accepted in the world of men and will never back down from a challenge. He is in a constant state of moral dilemma. He has committed heinous acts of aggression towards the races he so desperately wants to be respected by. There are times when he might do whatever it takes to do the right thing and other times he is so filled with rage that he is blinded to the atrocities his actions have created. He may kill in the name of numerous gods because they so challenge him to do so and other times he may defy the gods simply to show them he will not be ruled by man, beast or  god. He cares nothing for the world of magic and will charge haphazardly  through the manifestations of  sorcery  being hurled at him just to prove to himself how truly weak those who rely on cheap conjured magical powers, truly are. He lives and will die by his sword and weather the world around him considers him good or evil they will respect the warrior spirit that is Metslain and all the power, anguish, and resolve that emanates from with in him.

  • For me...now at level 46, I'm starting to feel less enthused about playing it.  Maybe I just need a few days away from it.  Like for some reason I'm not that excited about alchemy anymore.  Enchanting has become tedious and boring and even exploring today seemed dull. :(  Maybe I've played too many Elder Scroll games and other RPGs and my brain is telling me ENOUGH!!!!

  • I'm nearly 90 hours into the game and I have yet to feel that it's getting boring. There is so much more I can do in it that it's become overwhelming. I barely started the Thieves Guild quest line and haven't even touched the main quest after I paid my first visit with the grey beards at the beginning. I think the fact that I'm a collector of treasure is a big part of why I'm not so bored with this game. The thought of items that are rare or hard to come by is what keeps me going.

  • Skyrim cannot possibly ever get boring, just play it less offen so you maintain that enthusiasm or better still take a deep breath and start following another path ny leveling up something else like melee or archery instead of magic.

There is always something round the corner in Skyrim

  • Level: 5
  • Try doing like me, start a character on something other than easy difficulty, play the game traditionaly, do not use items that make your armor 200 plus.  I use what I find.  My arch mage robes are probably the best thing that I wear.  I do agree that the side quests get a bit repedative, but I know that dlc is comming, so I have switched to playing other games for now, and putting skyrim in occasionally.

Call of duty and The Elder Scrolls, everything else is second best.

  • Level: 5
  • With any character I make I make sure they have a huge weakness. My Sneaks cannot take down much unless they stay hidden. Mages need to keep enemies at a distance and can't get hit often. Warriors do not level smithing. Makes the game more fun for me. But I will be playing Mass Effect for the foreseeable future,

  • Level: 2
  • I'm getting a bit bored too. I'm waiting for DLC.
