  • Heres the link to Magic the Gathering: Duals 2012. If you watch the vid you get to check out Archnemesis mode which looks pretty cool and challenging! This game is slated for next month!

  • I went to Wizard's main page its up on their home. It says June 15 for Steam release, XBL and PSN soon after. But I suspect releases in June. Check it out!

  • So they promise us that we'll see the cards from the 2012 core set in this game. That's 249 cards to work with. Oh wait, they didn't say all the cards from the core set are included. I didn't hear anything about deck building either.

You gotta come with something more exciting than a new game mode which will bore me way too quicky if we have to play it over and over again with the same preconstructed decks.

  • Cool first deck revealed. We will probably be stuck with premade decks with little customization.

    EDIT: Holy, an Eldrazi.

  •  Meh. It's hard to say for sure, without looking at the rest of the deck lists.  But this deck doesn't look very good.  It's just a ton of ramp with the hopes of living long enough to get to a bomb.  The biggest thing with these types of decks is that it doesn't have very many ways to deal with anything.

polymorph is terrible here.  "Polymorph my Giant Octopus into a Kraken Hatchling - uck ***$#k!"

How many times are you going be forced to polymorph one of their creatures because you can't deal with it.  I'm assuming there will be creatures that you just MUST deal with in other decks.  (cards like:  Royal Assassin, Platinum Angel, Vampire Nocturnus etc.)

I guess you could bounce with aether mutation and do a lot of chump blocking,  But all in all, this probably wont be a "go to" deck.  I will be curious to see the unlockables though and how that works.

If there are a few Mystic Snakes in the unlockables,  Well then my opinion of this deck will drastically go up instantly :)

  • Look they will never implement full deck customizing or else they would lose everyone from MTGO. However I would like for them to put in an option to edit the premade decks (be able to take out original cards)

  • agreed.

But even that would surprise me.  The reasoning that has been stated by both Stainless and WotC is to keep the game balanced for "New" players whom are just learning the game.   I agree with them in this regard.  As much as I would like to have even a little bit of customization,  I know that it would give someone like myself a gigantic advantage over most players.  So I'm fine with the way things are.

  • Even if they don't add deck customization I'm pretty certain this game will at least be as successful as Planeswalkers

  • I don't really see what they're updating here, apart from adding new cards.

What's gonna happen to all my existing stuff?

Will it build on what was already released like "Pinball FX"?

    Now that would be awesome.

I find your lack of faith... disturbing.

  • The statement released by Wizards at PAX was that they wanted a game to reward players for their hardwork from the first game, so I do think we will be able to import all our decks. All MTG is is a card game, so what more could you ask for? 9 new decks to unlock (excluding DLC), new game modes and online co-op! Day 1 buy for me!

  • I doubt they are going to let us import our existing decks.  If you look at the screenshots, there appears to be a completely different elf deck called "Guardians of the Wood".  It runs Elvish Prominade, Heedless One, and Norwood Ranger.  It wouldn't really make sense to have 2 of the same decks.

    I'm just speculating.

I think this deck is looking good. Your underestimating the power of Polymorph. Ive place 1-3rd at FNM my fair share of times early in this block with Quest For Ula's Temple/Polymorph decks. Your probably wanting to want to use your Elvish Piper to draw out your opponents removal. Cast Treasure hunt, drop another small dude, cast Polymorph. This deck looks like its going to be mean with some of the unlockables. If there are going to be Planeswalker cards then we could be looking at a Jace unlockable.

Ramp Polymorph decks rely on alot of creatures for blocking, but they do carry Jace so you know when to play that Poly. They need a playset at least for this deck to be worth something though.

  • Polymorph is better with cards like Khalani Gardens, Wind Zendikon, Garruk, etc.

The way this deck is set up, Polymorph is going to be hit or miss.  Sometimes you'll hit a T3-T4 bomb and You'll have a total blowout providing it sticks (hard to say with cards like Go for the Throat  confirmed). Other times your just going to hit something stupid and waste a card.

I'm not saying polymorph is a bad card by any means.  It doesn't surprise me that you would have good finishes with that card.

All I'm saying is that this in particular build is going to be very inconsistent in regards to Polymorph (too many little creatures to hit + extreme lack of removal).  But the truth is that we won't know until we see all the other decklists and the unlockables.

I could be totally wrong, but we'll learn more as the rest is revealed.  As for Planeswalkers,  I would love it if they were added but somehow I doubt that will be the case as the theme of the game is that the player is considered to be the planeswalker (hense the title: Duals of the Planeswalkers)

  • Treasure Hunt and Polymorph have no synergy at all. And I don't see them adding Planewalker cards either, especially not the Mind Sculptor.. Polymorph is a bad card, period.

  • Polymorph is a bad card? Treasure hunt is in there as a backup if your Poly doesnt work the way it should OR to grab a Poly. The white elephant in the room is Elvish Piper. For this deck to work; put in 4x Quest for Ula's Temple, 4x Polymorph, 2x Treasure Hunt.

  • Polymorph is a fine card. It just sux in a deck with small creatures rather than other permanents that put small creatures in play (ie. Khalani Gardens, etc)

    Quest would be fine here.

Elvish Piper I'm torn on.  By itself, It's never really been that great.  It sux in the current game because you rarely have any worthwhile creatures.   I suppose this deck is much better than the current format, being that you have 6 decent targets, which statistically you should see one by Turn 5,  but still.   I'm sceptical.

  • Level: 2
  • Exactly. The problem with these decks, at least for my case, is that they are too slow. Im pretty heavy into tournaments (standard) and these decks just dont give me justice. I need a quick deck that provides huge amounts of synergy. Im running a mean white aggro this week, im excited to see how it does.

  • Well I missed the first game. Im new to MtG I did collect them when I was a kid but when you're a kid you just look at the pictures not even understanding it was a game. So with that i'm defiantly going to purchase this one just decideing if I want it on xbox or steam. Probably xbox.

  • No deck constructions? I'll pass. The existing title has a sufficient number of premade decks for me. Bring me an MTGO xbox title, please.

  • doubt they will ever make mtgo for the console just play that on the pc when in the mood for custom decks and play this and the previous mtg xbox game when in the mood to just have a basic and fun online experence. if this game was just new decks and graphics i prolly wouldnt spent 10 bucks on it but considering its going to finally have online co-op (hopefully this also means that 2 headed giant and 2 v 2 will be online compatible without having to play on the same console because thats what was missing for me in the 1st arcade title)
