Minecraft Texture Packs

    • Level   2

Is there anyway we would be able to import texture packs onto are xbox?

    • Level   5

Using third party programs, heavy modding, and rewriting code for porting, it is possible.  All of these are against the ToU you agreed to, and you will have action taken against you should you attempt them.

Oh so you wont be able to import but in time would they release packs ?

    • Level   7

basically you cant mix anything but MS issued content to the game or you risk being banned for life bro.

They will be releasing texture packs and all that eventually, anyways. I think the first big update is sometime in June.

July, actually, is what they're hoping for. It's not even a guaranteed month, just what they're trying to aim for or thinking it might be around then.

It's not enough for people to just live. They have to live for something.

not really a long wait at all imo.

Microsoft are quite clear that loading third party content is against Term Of Use and may result in a profile ban, that said downloading texture packs from places like Planet Minecraft will not work, as they are designed for the Java version of MC(PC) and the 360 version was rewritten using XNA game studio, also there is no option to select a texture pack on the menu screen, so you would have to access the source code of MC360 and add the option yourself, which is also a huge NO! NO! in MS's policy's.

to be a little more precise, you'd need the XNA kit (free), the MC360 code (is that even published?) and the XNA dev license to transfer it to your console ($100).  Plus, you;'d have to figure out how to modify the MC360 code to let you import the content, since there's no interface for it, and the MC360 code is possibly radically different.

There's nothing illegal or against ToU in that scenario because that is what the XNA license is for.  It's not likely the OP is able to do so, as one who is versant in the technology would have already known all this, and wouldn't need to ask on a forum.

Even more improbable is actually hacking the X-box and modding the binaries for MC360.  That is what violates ToU, and is orders of magnitude harder than the first scenario.

The ToU states: "You must not attempt to disassemble, decompile, create derivative works of, reverse engineer, modify, further sublicense, distribute, or use for other purposes the Service, any game, application, or other content available or accessible through the Service, or any hardware associated with the Service or with an Authorized Device."

Modifying the game or your account in any way is still a modification. Especially if it's just to put a texture pack within the game. Altering the game or files for the game is still modifying it and is against the ToU unless you are the developer or the tools have been given to you in that game to change the look of it in that manner from what they have offered. It's still frowned upon.

Plus if you have a dev kit and the ability to do all that I would have to assume you already work for a developer or are just completely nuts about video game programming, haha.

    • Level   1

in the next up-date i think you will be able to download texture packs

    maybe
