hear hear,
I've already made several attempts at contacting the xbox support people and posting on Forums.
I'm from Belgium. The reason I find this so frustrating is that, as stated in all of the above, gamers usually speak English like a second motherlanguage.
I've been programming in English from the first letter of code I wrote, my OS is always set to English, my Xbox is set to English, my Phone is set to English ... Everything I CAN put in English WILL be set to English (even changed my car's onboard system).
This just to make it clear that I master the language enough to be able to talk to the system, as I've tested while being offline.
Is it really that big of an effort to use the boolean that gets set by the On/Off Option in the System Settings instead of looking at the profile's language and crossreferencing that to a list of allowed languages? (I'm not telling devs how to do their jobs here, I know it CAN be much more complicated)
I love the Xbox, it's just these annoying things that make it frustrating ...
In addition, will this limitation also occur when playing for example ME3 next year, as it's supposed to have speech recognition too?
