Corrupted Profile!

  • Level   1

I got on the 360 today to play some SCV and logged into my profile and joined a friends party. However when I started up the game it logged me off of LIVE as if there was an update, but there wasn't.I tried again, but this time I couldn't access my friends list and it said I had 0 Gamerscore. I tried clearing my system cache, but that didn't work. I then tried to recover my profile only to find that it wouldn't download it. I went to memory and found my profile is corrupted. I heard that deleting the profile and then recovering it again would fix it but I want a solid answer before I try that. Will I lose my save game data and achievements because I heard that others have been trying this to solve the exact same problem that I have but they've been losing there save game data?If I will, is there anyway I can prevent this? But ultimately how can I fix my corrupted profile?Any help soon would be greatly appreciated.

  • There's unfortunately no way to fix the damaged corrupted profile but you can simply delete it and re-download it. Please follow the instructions below to safely delete the profile and then download it again.

    Delete Profile Safely:

    1. Go to Settings, and then select System.
    2. Select Storage.
    3. Select All Devices.
    4. Select Gamer Profiles.
    5. Select the gamertag that you want to delete.
    6. Select Delete.
    7. Select one of the following:
    • Select Delete Profile Only. This deletes the profile but leaves saved games and achievements. > This is what you'd want to pick.
    • Select Delete Profile and Items to delete the profile and the associated saved games and achievements.

     Download Profile Again:

    1. Press the Xbox Guide button on your controller (large X button in the center of your controller).
    2. Select Download Profile.
    3. Enter the Windows Live ID associated with your Xbox LIVE gamertag.
    4. Now, enter your Windows Live ID password.
    5. Select the storage device for your profile (for example, Hard Drive).

Your profile should begin downloading now.

If you delete your profile, you will not lose any of your game saves or achievements. Make sure when you delete you select "profile only". Then redownload your profile. As long as you don't delete your entire hard drive, you should be fine.

Actually, nevermind.I went to delete my profile from my HD but it wasn't there. Was it because I had tried to recover it before I had deleted it?How could that be because it was there saying "Corrupted Profile" yesterday?I'm really starting to hate Microsoft. Is there anyway to fix this problem?

If you try to recover your profile and then stop, it becomes corrupt. You have to delete it with the steps Hassassinade mentioned above. Since it's not there, you have to re-download it.

    Hey everybody,

I would actually recommend that you try a different storage device long before considering to delete your profile. If for whatever reason you're unable to download your profile at all, deleting it first would prevent any hope for future play altogether.
