Gears of war 3, Lost almost all progress

I have lost almost all of my progress in gears of war 3 including

  • how far I was on Insane mode in campaign (it still says I beat it on hardcore)
  • my level, I was level 34, now I'm level 4
  • all of my verses stats (kill, deaths, wins, losses)
  • most of my character skins and weapons
  • most of my ribbons
  • all of my medal except for beta tester

I still have my achievements, and the progress towards the achievements I have yet to unlock.

also last night I beat beast mode on insane without losing and from it I unlocked the onyx medal and a character for verses, the weird thing is that the medal still shows up

next to my name, and I still have the character selected. Even though it says I don't have the medal and I don't have the character.

I have cleared my hard drive cache and recovered my gamer tag, neither of these things worked.

help would be greatly appreciated.

  • I found out hours ago i was demoted from a legit level 100 to a level 1..  this is bs.  i WILL get to the bottom of this.  Can i have my 100 wasted hours of my life back?  Or they should at least give the people that got demoted a special skin haha.  But any ways, or ummm.. just give me my rank back??? wth

  • This is garbage any top selling video game should NOT be having petty problems like this.. shame on epic.  i still have my onyx medal, unfortunately i was using big rig, but i have hunter elite :) still.  but uhh 52 kills away from gnasher master?? thats pretty dumb now.  i have been a fan since gears 1, i mastered all 3 games legitly, but im going to sell this peice of crap if they dont fix it now..  This is former leuitenant Flash stroud, signing off, permanently, no longer a gears fan.  R.I.P. my heart.

  • Not sure about GoW 3 but GoW 2 had a similar problem due to the player data being saved to the server, just make sure your games not saving profile data when you turn off your xbox. As it normally does this when you go back to the menu

    Also one of my friends has unlocked the liquid green skin and commando dom skin randomly, so i think GoW 3 also has the data saved on the server

  • Hmm weird... This information should be stored on the server... especially the multiplayer data. I would highly suggert using the Cloud Games which allows you to save your games over the internat so whenever this happens, you can load the data from the Cloud Games.

  • This is really bad, and it has not been fixed. This week somehow I lost everything on Gears 2 and 3!!!! Back to level 1, no medals, no progress. Lost achievements, progress to achievements, my 20K kills, everything. On both!!!!

    On Gears 3 my progress was not a big deal, but on 2, it was a lot. Did anybody have any success fixing this? I even lost Dizzy, my favorite character and cant get him back.

    Is anybody on Epic even looking into this mess?

  • Lol had the same problem, after i left a game, cause we had to go dinner, i left the game and shut it off, and after ive eaten, next thing you know, im back to LVL 1 and lost all the medals,( i arrived yesterday at the 2000th kill of the gnasher -.- ( gold medal ) and i was LvL 83.

  • has nothing to do with shutting during game instead of in the main menu, done that loads of time and its just now that its poof Gone,   Aint gonna waste any more hours trying to get back to lvl 83, their are other games than only gears of war :p Hope this gets fixed and they retrieve our content again, cauz this aint funny at all!!!!    i even had they lucky moment of having a headshot en 2nd kill with the BOW, after trying and trying. aint changing my golden medal in my name during game otherwise cant show i aint a nooby lvl 1

  • I completed the whole game on Insane difficulty only to find out at the end that Act 3 ( chapters 2 - on) and Act 4 (Chapter 1) only show as completed on Normal. Also acquired all collectibles but most did not save. These are awful bugs for such a big game title. Seems I'm not the only one experiencing issues.

  • the same hapened to me i was already 80 after the first re-up i was palying for fun but also the ribbons and the medals are part of it as well so i really felt angry but also most disapointed of epic games as flash said i have been playing gears since it came out i also mastered all the three games legally supporting them at all moments and then this i lost everything its not big deal but for my was pretty important, men if i dont get a back up that´d mean i wasted countless hours of my life for nothing so as flash said if i dont get my information back ill be out and another lost customer and fan of the saga. also i´ve been twetting the guys of gow3 at their oficial twitter acount and they havent even answer to al least ask forgivenees so they are not as cool as i thought they were. what a shame.
