status code 80070057

i keep trying to buy the one month free gold account but i keep getting an error message saying cant retrieve information from xbox live please try again later status code 80070057. i would love some advise on how to solve this problem thanks

I called in to support and after they put my credit information in and made sure my address was correct, it worked..

I got the same message, but after I entered my credit card information it worked. Although you're not paying anything it is still required. To enter credit card information do the following: 1. Hit the xbox button 2. got to settings and select "Account Management" 3. Under "Your Billing Option" select "Manage Payment Options" 4. enter Credit card info 5. Try getting the free xbox live again.

Any subscription you buy on the console will automatically turn on Auto Renew. In order for that to work, there must be a credit card on the account it can charge when the account auto renews.  Even though it is a free month, you must have a credit card on the account to start the subscription.

When that free one month is finished it will renew into a paid 1 month subscription and charge the payment method you added.

To stop auto renewal you can simply sign in online (on this website), select "My Account", and it will tell your current subscription to xbox live and give you the option to deactivate auto renewal.

I have never listed a credit card with xbox as I always buy the 12 month gold membership elsewhere as its cheaper! Now I have this error code when I try to redeem my subscription which I purchased cheaper from a Jungle region retailer!! Cant see why you should add card details at all???????

Had the same issue, signed into my account on the computer and redeemed the code there. Worked just fine for me.

Had same issues as well on console, trying to activate new 12 month card and getting status code 80070057.  Went on xbox live account on computer, entered code and worked like a charm.

I tried to purchase MW2 using a credit card and that error kept coming up but this morning i got an email saying i did buy it but the game is nowhere to be found on my hard drive i even checked download history and it says i never bought it EVEN when the email says i did RESPOND FAST IM PISSED!

Hi Bliitz, unfortunately there is no way to get a free month trial membership without putting on a debit or credit card, or paypal account. There is however, a two day free trial membership that I don't think requires one.

The only two day trials that I know of come inside of some games that are purchased new, otherwise I don't know. Sorry!

Hello again BliiTz, your question has already been answered in this thread. You cannot get a free month of gold on your Xbox without having a debit card, credit card or paypal account on file. Feel free to make a new thread as this question has already been answered.
