    Hello

Your DNS server can't resolve Xbox LIVE server names

Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and then select System Settings.

    Select Network Settings.

Select Wired Network if you are prompted to do so.

    Select Configure Network.

On the Basic Settings tab, select IP Settings.

Select Manual, and then select IP Address.

Enter 192.168.0.2, and then select Done.

Select Subnet Mask, enter 255.255.255.0, and then select Done.

Select Gateway, enter 192.168.0.1, and then select Done.

On the Basic Settings tab, select DNS Settings.

    Select Manual.

    Select Primary DNS Server.

Enter 192.168.0.1, and then select Done.

    Select Done again.

Press B on your controller, and then select Test Xbox LIVE Connection.

    Hey there Major,

Okay, I've been doing some digging. It looks like that particular modem is limited by firmware installed by GVT.

I was not able to find many workable solutions but here are a few things you can try and see how they go for you:

    Port Forwarding

    1. Open a web browser.
    2. Enter http://192.168.2.1 into the address bar. (Or click the link) When prompted enter admin for the user name and admin for the password.
    3. From the menu on the left, select Network under the section titled Settings.
    4. Select Port-Forwarding from the menu on the top.
    5. On the first line, select "Create a New Rule" in the Rule Name dropdown and enter Xbox in the blank box.
    6. Select "Both" for the Protocol.
    7. Enter 3074 for both the Source Ports and Destination Ports.
    8. Enter the IP Address of the Xbox in Destination IP or Hostname.
    9. Select Save.

    Restore Factory Defaults

    Through firmware

    1. Plug the computer into a LAN port via an ethernet cable.
    2. Open a web browser.
    3. Enter http://192.168.2.1 into the address bar. (Or click the link) When prompted enter admin for the user name and admin for the password.
    4. From the menu on the left, select Resets under the section titled Home.
    5. Select the red button that says Reset.

    Through Hardware

    1. Locate the reset button on the back of the device.
    2. Using a toothpick or ballpoint pen press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds.
    3. Wait for the device to restart.

Let us know how that goes.

If you are able to connect to your router then login to your router and find the setting that allows you to place static IP addresses.  I am going to guess that your network is in the 192.168.0.0 network so make it like 192.168.1.12. (If your IP scheme is 192.168.2.0 then enter in 192.168.2.12, etc.)  You may or may not have to name it - if you do just call it xbox.  If it gives you a checkbox for UPnP make sure to check it.

On the homepage of your router make sure to write down your router's IP address (gateway) and the primary and secondary DNS servers.

Once you have done this save the changes and reboot your router.

Go into the Xbox Network settings and click on your connection and you need to enter the following in Manually:

IP address: Whatever static IP address you put into your router and called it Xbox.

    Netmask: 255.255.0.0

Gateway: Whatever IP address your router is

Primary DNS: The primary DNS server you wrote down from your router

Secondary DNS: The secondary DNS server you wrote down from your router.

I hope this works for you.

Edit to the above.  For Subnetmask it'd a Class C so you would enter 255.255.255.0

Can you connect to the internet via PC?

If so open the command prompt and type ipconfig /all

The router ip will be there and you will be able to check the login that way

The dns servers I use are Open DNS

    Primary 208.67.222.222

    Secondary 208.67.220.220

    Hey there Major!

Can you tell us what exactly didn't work? What did you try? What were the results when you tried?

Mister Fizzle, cyberwild360, and CR1MSON PHOENIX posted several solutions. Can you walk us through each solution and what happened as you tried each one?

Let us know and we'll be happy to work with you from there. We just need to know what's happening as you try each of these solutions.

I tried everything you have talked to me then and continues to do with this error

'' The dns server can not identify the names of the Xbox Live servers''

You said earlier "http://192.168.2.1 Not work" did this mean that you were unable to reach that website?  Or were you able to follow the steps but they didn't help?

We may need some help from your ISP on this.  Are you having issues connecting with any other devices on your network?

    • Level   2

192.168.2.1 did not work, however I used 192.168.25.1 and follow the steps and opened the doors of my modem but nothing worked and I had already seen such a tutorial to make these things did everything right and did not work :/

Would if I post the screenshot page of my modem would not be easier?
